P.S. - Try playing the tutorial three or four times. It should help you acclimate to the camera's controls
Your army fights evil armies up and down terrain.360 pan of the action allow many angles. The controlls are simple 2 button to rotate view and mouse to select troops. Some throw bombs some shoot arrow some chop with sword. This game is one of finesse, since you troops move at different rates and can be separated[bad for slow moving troops] Enemies are numerous and results of chopping and gerandes is bloody. learn what a yrkridia and a trow are :)
In the solo levels you battle the forces of evil in an epic campaign. The different missions occur in a variety of settings each with it's own goal. You get to control human soldiers and archers, berzerkers (think braveheart), dwarfs (who throw explosives), and warlocks.Your enemies include zombies, spear throwing flying souless, exploding pus corpses, tough pig beasts, giants, ghols (kind of a cross between monkeys and dogs), and other creatures. What makes Myth so fun? Maybe the answer to that is to identify how Myth is different from the other combat & strategy games. Firstly Myth is a "Real-Time" strategy game. There are no turns where one player makes a turn then the next player responds, everything happens in real-time - simultaneously. The battles are what Dungeons and Dragons battles would be like if you didn't have to keep rolling the dice, consulting charts and calculating numbers. Unlike first person shooter games like Quake or Unreal, Myth puts you in charge of several units/troops at a time. You can give your troops orders independantly or have them work together, but you have to think about more than just one character, as you can have dozens of troops under your command at any one time. Unlike combination resource building/strategy games that emphasize long-term planning and in which a single decision made early on can have disastrous consequences much later on - so that battles are more the result of how many and what types of weapons you have accumulated rather than on how good a commander you are, in Myth, the focus is on a player's strategy _in battle_ and immediately before battle. When playing competitively against other players each player has (generally) the same mix and numbers of troops so that winning a game is not determined by who has accumulated the most toys, winning depends on using various types of units effectively, using terrain to your advantage, knowing when to fight and when to retreat, how to use troop formations, set traps, etc. Although Bungie no longer provides the free bungie.net game server for Myth players to play with/against each other, you can still play Myth on a local network, directly with another player over the internet, or through use of one of the newer free Myth Game Servers (mariusnet.com or www.playmyth.net). Myth 2 is very addictive fun.Myth is an old game at this point, but I would still recommend it. Die-hard fans still play the game regularly online and fans still create new competitive maps and solo missions which keep the game fresh. If you do get this game and want to play it online, you will need to download the latest update to the game which is available for free at www.versiontracker.com. [You still need to BUY the game, the free update only updates the game, it does not work on it's own]You can also find lots of Myth related info and strategy guides at the Myth Graveyard - mythgraveyard.mything.org ... Beware that the AI will most assuredly cheat and totally tick you off. I've never seen an AI cheat so blatantly as it does in this game. I've played this game for about 5 hours everyday, for about six months and still haven't had enough. I highly recommend it!
I think it's a huge step up from Civ II, but there are still huge flaws. The game is made for limitless possibilities, yet the designers obviously didn't try any of them. I had once conquered a huge map before, and had to shut down the computer because the game insisted on popping up the exact same text message for all of my cities (literally hundreds of them - around 300) for about 3 seconds each. 300x3/60 = 15 minutes. - If anyone is curious, it was the message stating "we love the king day" had been cancled, due to my excessive warring in Democracy. Another FATAL flaw is the combat system. It will literally have you ripping out your hair, or throwing your monitor across the room. The AI cheats badly. In the long game I had played, only on the second difficulty, I lost hundreds of "Modern Armor" tanks attacking primitive units such as pikemen. And I loved it when the little cave-man row-boat destroyed my battleship. Yet the AI could smash my Mech-Infintry (Best Defensive unit) with pathetic units such as Knights and other sword-based fighters. These things don't happen in the real word. One tank could probably take out thousands of little guys with sticks. And no matter how many times you shoot the tank with arrows, it's just not going to damage it. If it only happened once in a while, fine. But trust me, you will need extreme self control to keep your cool after spending so much time researching techs and building up this deadly beautiful army of tanks, only to have it completely worthless in the end. So it's either play the game on the easiest setting (the AI is basically retarded here, and the game very boring), or stress out. I'll stop complaining now. And I'll add the fact that I wouldn't be so touchy about it if I hated it. It really is a fun game, especially for strategy fans. Just don't take the end results as serious as I did! ... Warbirds 3D Average Customer Review: CD-ROM list price: $39.99 US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Reviews (4)
Also, there is only cockpit view, which is realistic. But Fighter Ace at least give you the options of flying in Arcade mode just to have fun or realistic mode to emulate real life. Being a Fighter Ace user wanting to check the other game out, I am disappointed and don't understand what the concept is.It is too bad since they seem to have put a lot of effort in the game and in marketing.
The offline mode (where the planes come back after you shoot them down) is purely to trainyour skills - skills you will need to survive online against real humanbeings. The graphics obviously can't be as fancy as, lets say Falcon4.0, since the game supports up to 400 players online and has to be abalance between "effective" and "eye candy" to minimiselag. Warbirds has a good Flightmodel, a huge variety of planes, a bigonline comminity and interesting events (Battle of Britain, the Bomber warover Europe etc). The only downside is it's rather expensive online fee. ... Read more Asin: B00003IEFM |

Total Annihilation Gold Average Customer Review: CD-ROM US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review Ever since Total Annihilation hit the PC world back in '97, gushing gamers have fallen all over themselves to heap praise on this amazing real-time strategy game. In classic understatement, PC Games called TA "the Greatest Game of All Time." Without a doubt, this title is an RTS standard, even years after its release. So that's why we Mac folk can still count our blessings with the late '99 release of Total Annihilation Gold, a pack that includes the basic game, plus the Battle Tactics suite of missions (a sort of strategy-clinic/quick-play add-on) and the TA: Core Contingency (a set of 75 new units and 25 new missions). While Total Annihilation may not have the back-story and sophisticated solo campaign play of its competitors, the game blows them away in nearly every other category. Combat is kick-ass and lightning quick, even on a good 604e, thanks to TA's 3-D engine, which uses polygons in favor of bitmaps to allow tons of players and units to mix it up without the usual slowdowns--you don't even need to invest in 3-D hardware to get this boost. The game just gets better when you add on stupendous graphics, an astounding number of units between the Arm and the Core (over 250 in the base game), a thoughtfully designed resource-management system that rewards aggressive play and allows for amazing comebacks (way better than the "oh, you lost that mine, you lost the game" fate of Warcraft and its ilk), and even an award-winning score performed by a chorus and a 75-piece orchestra. TA Gold gives you a rocking good start with the base game, Battle Tactics, and the Core Contingency, and is a well-equipped introduction to this RTS classic for the Mac crowd. About the only strike against this otherwise exceptional port is that Mac and PC players still can't duke it out in multiplayer, but that's just an unfortunate quibble with a title this solid. --Paul Hughes Pros:

The Sims (Mac) Average Customer Review: CD-ROM (25 July, 2000) list price: $39.99 -- our price: $39.99 (price subject to change: see help) US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France Editorial Review The idea behind The Sims is this: the ultimate goal of life is to achieve happiness, and the way to achieve happiness is to satisfy your Sims' needs. That's right, The Sims allows you to create, direct, and manage the lives of SimCity's residents. Each need (Hunger, Comfort, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social, and Room) can be met by interaction with other Sims or objects: throw a party with the help of a rockin' stereo system, and watch your Sims' Social and Fun ratings improve. Have one of your Sims whip up some food from the refrigerator, and you'll satisfy the Hunger needs of your guests. Or have your Sim engage another Sim in a game of chess: not only will their Fun and Social moods improve, both Sims will gain some points in their Logic skill rating--which might help on the job. Mismanage your new, simulated family, and you'll be faced with the worst of MTV's The Real World--with a touch of teenage angst drama thrown in for good measure: jealousies will ignite, fights will break out, jobs will be lost, and the house will fall apart. Bringing about such a calamity is almost as much fun as guiding these Sims to material paradise, and takes considerably less time. A good general rule is that the more expensive the object, the better its ability to satisfy Sim needs. One gameplay goal is to improve your Sim so he or she can climb the career ladder, which nets him or her more money, which allows the purchase of higher quality stuff, which lets you improve your Sim even more. Eventually, your Sim will have a mate, kids, and a mansion with an indoor pool. Before you decide how to fix your Sims' health and happiness, you need to craft each of your simulated people: pick a name and a gender, decide on personality/astrological sign, and then choose a look from a variety of heads, bodies, and skin tones. After the creation, the next step is to find a place to live. Again, the player can choose from among the empty houses in the neighborhood or decide to buy some land and design a dream house. Building houses is a blast, and the easy-to-use house design interface could almost be its own game: players design the floor plan, put up walls, pick carpet, wallpaper, and siding, and fill the house with furniture, decorations, fixtures, and appliances. You're limited only by your imagination--and your Sims' pocketbook. But the choices you make in designing and decorating your Sims' house are vital. Triumph or tragedy, each significant event in a Sim's life is captured in a snapshot and saved in a photo album for later viewing. Players can also take photos any time they wish. The photo album feature is cool by itself, but the best part is that you can upload the album to www.thesims.com and share your Sims' sagas with the world. Entire families can also be uploaded and downloaded, as can houses. Want to re-create and manage your own version of Friends? Download the free face and body editor and make Sim clones of Ross, Rachel, and the rest. Want to go really crazy and perfectly re-create the set? Snag the free wall and floor texture editor. With The Sims, you can create whatever--and whomever--you desire. Toying with the lives, successes, and emotional states of dozens of little Sims is undeniably fun. In the same way that SimCity players develop a condescending attitude toward real-world city planners, The Sims players will begin to see life as a series of needs-satisfying challenges; the game gets in your head. But that's OK: limitless gameplay, endless variety, cool Internet features, and the ability to play matchmaker/landlord/counselor/God makes The Sims a great way to increase your own Fun score. --Mike Fehlauer Pros:
