5-0 out of 5 stars BEST GAME EVER!!!!!
tony hawk proskater 4 is definetly a good use of your money. it would take a very very very experienced gamer a couple of hours to beat at the least. it is also easy to learn the tricks on. i have opened up three levels already and i am a pretty bad video gamer. her is a list of it's pros and cons, enjoy.

Pros

oCreate a skater; you can create your own skater. You can edit scale, torso, head, legs, boards, gender and much more
oCreate a park; you can create your own park with stuff to do spins, flip tricks, and grinds off.
oTwo player mode; you can play two player if you have two controllers. In two player mode, you can compete in things like trick attack, king of the hill, slap, combo mambo, or just plain free skate
oOptions; you can edit the songs that play, what order they play in, and the music and sound volume levels
oCareer mode; career mode offers hours of fun while you complete tasks to open new levels. You can pass the controller around at a party and have everyone complete one task or you could complete them all by yourself. You can create as many careers as you want
oYou can also do one player free skate and trick attack.
oLevels; the levels are challenging yet fun in their own ways. Some have lots of ramps to jump off of, while others have a lot of grind objects.

Cons

oYou can turn the blood off for a less-violent game, but if you still have the sound on, you can hear the person screaming when they fall badly
oElisa Steamer; once I was playing with one of my friends and she had Elisa Steamer. Every time she falls down, she screams a very murderous scream that is not the nicest thing you have ever heard. Also, my friend was trying to do a trick with Elisa Steamer, and she felon her head and split in half (Elisa Steamer split in half, not my friend).
oFrustration; if you are playing career mode, you may get a little frustrated by some of the challenging tasks. You may also keep trying to complete a task without success, which will result in you being glued to the TV screen (or gcn monitor) and the only thing anyone will get out of you is a grunt.

overall, tony hawk pro skater 4 is a very good use of your money and it also helps to pass time quickly, like i needed to today. i hope that you decide to get it because it is a very fun game.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Game that wraps up why Tony Hawk is the Best Skater!
This game has a intresting touch to it. I want to meet Tony Hawk though... Anyway the game has 9 levels. 3 levels are competitions. They are Rio, Skater Island and Tokyo. If you win a gold medal on all of them, you'll get a video on your character. The other levels are the Foundry, Canada, Suburbia, the Airport, Los Angles and the Cruise Ship. There are 9 goals on each levels in which you have to complete to complete the game. You'll also get seceret characters and options that will break the laws of physics of the Earth.

4-0 out of 5 stars SO SO
THIS GAME IS HARD to control ( the characters ) and the music stinks and its a little boring but its cool because you can play as over 100 skaters including wolverine, Darth Maul, Kelly Slater, and a lot more!

4-0 out of 5 stars What a waste!
Today I just rented Matt Hoffman Pro BMX2, and boy was I stupid. That game stunck with a capital S! I mean you most Activision games like Street Hoops or Spider Man the Movie are great, but this one is a disgrace. You'd also think, that if the first is great, thta the second would be a(n) bigger improvement- Not all the time. It's so hard that I can't even pass the first level. I fall all the time, and my person is just as bloody as can be. If there are some cheat codes or something, maybe it might be a lot better, but... I HATE IT!!! And "HATE", is a strong word. If I were you, I'd remove this game from your X-Mas list. Get Tony Hawk Underground. I heard it rules all! Toodaloo!

2-0 out of 5 stars The Worst Game Ever!
This is the worst game ever. Most of the "extra surfers" are ones that I have never heard of. Some of the challenges are stupid, like jump over a pier. I would only reccommend it for people who are bored enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy This Game
I can't believe no one has reviewed this game... if you like surfing and are familiar with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, you will love this game... the controls are much the same but obviously it is surfing instead of skateboarding... at the same time there is a lot about this game that makes it unique and basically just awesome it is well worth the money, especially at this price

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun even for non-surfers!
This is a very good game, even for people like me who have never surfed in the lives. I just bought it and tried some of the "missions," and I find that the game is fun, that the surfers are easy to control, and since every wave is different you never know what to expect. Plus, I found it dirt cheap. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Customization is key in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2. In this release, players can create their own riders (or ride as BMX champ Dave Mirra, Ryan Nyquist, and others in an impressive posse of BMX pros), choose their own sponsors, and even design their own parks in which to complete a variety of challenges. As players progress through the game, they'll earn the respect of fellow riders. The ultimate, however, is to unseat Mirra himself as king of the BMX hill.

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 also supports up to 12 players and features 10 multiplayer games, including an extreme bikathalon competition. Also, the release includes eight additional game levels, and they're four times beefier than before. Tear and trick through a total of 11 levels with this edition. The game is completed by integrated traffic, including moving cars, trains, trucks, and even other riders and pedestrians.

The open trick system in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 holds more than 1,500 tricks and signature moves--many of them motion captured off Mirra himself. And a fitting soundtrack accompanies the game, featuring cuts from Ozzy Osbourne, Methods of Mayhem, the Cult, Godsmack, and others.

4-0 out of 5 stars Triple "X" Marks The Spot
Definitely for adults, this game is really fun and amusing. Lots of tricks and missions to finish, but there are loads of laughs as the player rides around different environments.

Create your own player takes on a risque approach as the gamer can have female bikers go topless (complete with breast size adjustment) with all sorts of crazy accessories (astronaut boots, anyone?).

The soundtrack is outstanding with artists such as Saliva, and Green Day rocking out as you pass out from taking a fifty digger off of warehouse roof while trying to complete a mission. At a cool price, this game won't dissapoint.

4-0 out of 5 stars Goes beyond your average M RATED game.
I'm going to be straight up. I was attracted to this game by it's adult content (at first). Besides your average M RATED game which contains violence and gore ect., BMX XXX gets it's M RATING from strong dialogue, frontal nudity and sexual situations. I always rate a game by how long I play it. My friends and I have put hours into this game just for the gameplay alone. However, it always has another goody up it's sleeve. Alright, the BMXer's have taken over the city. Of course they have. How else would you explain all the bike ramps? You can spend hours just doing tricks. If you wanna do something else you can help out hookers, their pimp, a homeless crackhead, a fireman that just can't get his hose up, plus other low lifes in need. One of the coolest things about this game is the "RIDER EDITOR" which allows you to custom built your own rider. Some people might say that {Acclaim} made this game just to $cash$ in on profit. Well, I think they put alot of work into it. So I hope they do. Everyone knows that SEX sales. (BUT) Does it sale in the gaming industry?? Hey, I bought it.

4-0 out of 5 stars An average BMX game covered in adult content.
This is an otherwise okay BMX game hidden in layers of nudity, cursing, and other mature content. In terms of actual controls, Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 plays better. But, this game is way cool. Graphics are good and the soundtrack is very rememberable. Goals are fun and exciting, and the best on the market. It plays like Dave Mirra 2, which is why the game is still worth buying. Behind the adult content, the trick modifier system and big air stand out. It is only for adult audiences, and is difficult at times, but is a worthwhile purchase. ... Read more

Jeremy McGrath Supercross World
Average Customer Review: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Video Game (01 March, 2002)
list price: $49.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Jeremy McGrath Supercross World features 10-time supercross champion Jeremy McGrath and his heir apparent, Travis Pastrana, as well as eight other top supercross pros, including Sebastian Tortelli, Ezra Lusk, Tim Ferry, Grant Langston, Mike Brown, Ernesto Fonseca, Nathan Ramsey, and James Stewart. The game's 25 supersized tracks encompass indoor supercross, outdoor motocross, freestyle, and, for the first time in a supercross game, Baja mode.

The game is designed for anyone to pick up and play, but it also offers depth of gameplay. You can ride as any of the pros for a quick freestyle tournament with your friends, or battle your way through the championship mode for a longer gaming experience. The game features an innovative stunt advantage system: when players perform a stunt and land it correctly, they'll receive a brief speed boost or other skill advantage. It pays to be on point with your aerial skills. Each track has various minichallenges. Every time a player completes a challenge for a track, he or she will earn a trophy. The game's freestyle mode packs two-dozen tricks, including nac-nacs, supermans, fender grabs, 360s, and barrel rolls. The freestyle arenas are wide-open outdoor and indoor areas where you'll have plenty of room to perform mind-bending tricks by yourself or head-to-head with a friend.

The attribute system is broken down into eight attributes (four rider and four bike). Rider attributes (stability, slide, preload, and charisma) can be upgraded as a reward for doing well in career mode. Bike attributes (power band, top speed, cornering, and suspension) are preconfigured for each bike. The gamer will have to determine the best way to allocate earned attribute points on top of his or her bike attributes. Gamers who optimize rider and bike attributes will have the best chance of winning it all. In addition, the game offers head-to-head split-screen gameplay. Race your friends in any of our four split-screen modes: Baja, freestyle, indoor supercross, or outdoor motocross. ... Read more

ATV: Quad Power Racing 2
Average Customer Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Video Game

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

The arcade-style ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is as much about big air and reckless hotdogging as it is about crossing the finish line. To make any progress in this game, you must not only win races, but master increasingly complicated tricks and combos. Taking the time to master tricks pays off in the end--there are no shortage of locked features that open up with each advance in skill.

The game incorporates a wide array of well-rendered racers, vehicles, and locations. The various racing courses are elaborate and nicely detailed. You can knock competitors out of your way by administering a solid kick while passing--not exactly sportsmanlike behavior, but gratifyingly reminiscent of the classic Road Rash. For tricksters and stunt-riders, the freestyle arenas offer a candy store of possibilities. But the standout feature is the physics model behind the game. The overall handling and responsiveness of the vehicles is surprisingly realistic--even the controller vibration is more convincingly incorporated than in other racing games. Some finesse is required to pull off even the simpler tricks, and as with the real thing, it's easy to lose control of these powerful machines.--Maile Bohlmann

Pros:

  • Great graphics
  • Realistic physics and handling
  • Fun multiplayer and freestyle modes
  • Lots of unlockable bonuses
Cons:
  • Music is grating, annoying
  • Offensive moves (i.e. kicking) are underdeveloped
  • Training/practice modes are oversimplified

4-0 out of 5 stars This is the best game in the world.
Dictated:

This is a very good game and I would recommend to buy it.It can be challenging when you race on it, but it is easy to use kick. You can do lots of fun tricks.

My brother doesn't like it when you are doing multiplayer. If you are doing multi-player, you only have 20 seconds to get to the finish line once the first person has crossed the finish line.If you don't finish, the game just ends on you.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid and fun game....and a bit addicting:)
I really enjoy this game....It is simple to learn how to play, challenging to finish, and loads of fun in between. Kids from 5 to 75 can have fun with this. I bought this as a racing game, not as a stunt game. The option to knock other riders off can be handy at times, but not absolutely neccessary. Being able to ride wheelies and getting it up on 2 wheels is neat though. The graphics are really nice with some shortcuts on the tracks (if you can find them:)If you like any type of dirt and woods racing, try this out!

3-0 out of 5 stars The best ATV game available (but still mediocre)
Let me start with the good things about this game. It is relatively fast paced, the graphics are pretty good, the physics engine is nice, and the controls are, for the most part, intuitive.

Now the bad. This game is supposed to be about tricks and the ability to kick your opponents off their ATV, but the tricks are nothing special, and the kick option is very limited. You hit the B button (which means you have to take a finger off the throttle), and the game decides which direction to kick. If there is an ATV on each side, it's a coin flip who gets kicked. And the supposed variety in tracks and riders is just a lot of the same-old same-old. (Who cares how many amateur or professional riders there are to choose from. Can YOU name a pro ATV rider?) Oh, and the music is insipid.

But, if this is your thing, you might find it enjoyable. The game isn't BAD, it's just not that GOOD. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars OH YEAH!
OK, before you hear my review, I have to tell you why I bought the game. My dad (who happens to be a motorcycle rider and got 3rd place in his class and got a high point once) is totally opposed to every game console other than the gameboys and the computer. Well, on the computer he is totally hooked on Motocross Madness. So, my grama and I got together, and she secretly bought me a gamecube. (I paid 75%, she took care of the 25% and bought it). Then I bought this game. You see, I wanted to ease my dad up to gamecube. IT WORKED! He loves it now, and doesn't mind it so much. He plays the game before every race, and he always does well. It really pumps him up. I'm not a motocycle rider, but I must say, this game is awesome! Thanks grama!

Everyone on here is putting this game down, im into this kind of game and EVERYTHIGN on this game is perfect..

Why would you want a game with easy controls...????People complainin about tha tricks being hard, BLah @ you all...you should be ashamed of yourself..Motocross is the TIGHEST sport, and you want easy controls? A is go, B is Brake, L is clutch...R is spring jump...How hard is that????

Tricks are just as easy, Hold R while in the air and Press a combonation of buttons...

How can you say thats hard? When you say thats hard, maybe you should realize that your to young to play the game..Games are made to be challenging, If you dont like a challenge, go buy Mario....

5-0 out of 5 stars MX SUPERFLY
I've had this game for a long time, and it's one of my favorite games. You get to play as one of the pros, or create your own. Better yet, you can also be a girl biker, and that's awesome! You can race your friends, start a game,or play mini-games like HORSE, and stuff. It's really good. And You Can Compete in season races. The music is good, as well as the graphics, and you can do many tricks, as well as put the pros to the test. If your considering buying this game for yourself, or as a gift, you might as well get it. It's an awesome game! ... Read more

This game was only good for about a month then it turned sucky.
BUY IT IF YOU WAN'T TO WASTE YOUR MONEY.

4-0 out of 5 stars its fun but after you beat you might not want it anymore.
just like i said when you buy this game youll have so much fun with it. but after a month or two itll get extremely boring it has a very low value to it.But it is cheap so you could just buy it for a month or two then sell again. thats what i did.Youll have a good old time with this game for only a bit though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hip Hop, Fun, & Tricky Good
This is the best snowboarding game I ever played. It has hip hop and other classics stunts. This game is even better than any Tony Hawks game. It's fun and intellagent. If u have a child or if u are a child, check this out. No snowboarding game or skateboarding game can beat this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Underrated! This game will test the best of the best!
Here's the deal, many of the reviewers say this is like playing SSX tricky on wheels! Well, with all due respect, its not! Freelstyle is far more challenging that SSX tricky as far as races go and believe me, I love SSX tricky! Plus, unlocking new tracks, bikes and riders will really test your skills. As far as the tracks themselves go, the earlier ones are short, but very tough and when u fall off your bike, there is none of that SSX tricky re-start method; here, you have to go back a few feet!! So, for the 20 dollars you will pay for this game, you will feel that you added a great new game to your collection that will challenge the most experienced gamer and greatly improve the mediocre among you! Go get it, its worth every dollar (not more than 20 though!! lol!)

5-0 out of 5 stars A new twist on FMX
I agree, in part, with someone else that wrote a review for this, saying that it was exactly like SSX Tricky. I agree that it is similar to Tricky, which is also, by the way, a really great game, but its not exactly the same. And i dont just mean the fact that it's FMX rather than snowboarding. For one, i think that its much more difficult. For another, while all the characters in Tricky are 1. all fictional, and 2. all already unlokced, you have to unlock 4 of the 8 characters in Freekstyle, and they're all real people. Their catch phrases aren't as great as say Simon's from Tricky, but that doesnt matter too much. And stats aren't increased by levels, you have to earn them by winning races. Overall, it's a really good, really fun game. If you liked tricky, and you like FMX, get this.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Kick-ur-@$$ Game
This game was ok but it hade a couple draw backs. For one the graphics can get muddy at times. herres my rating.

Graphics 4 outta 5 (For certain reasons otherwise they are great)
Music4 outta 5 (its ok but can get annoying)
Replay 5 outta 5 (play it over and over and over and over and over for all I care)

Total: 8.9 outta 10 or 4.4 outta 5 ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Surfing rocks, this game blows toads
Surfing in this game is fun and quasi-realistic...except for having to rescue dolphins, scare birds, and fight off sharks every five minutes.Which all surfers do on a regular basis, right? This game blows toads.Imagine a football game where in addition to actually playing the game, you had to micromanage the popcorn sales so you could afford new helmets.
Also, there's only one beach! At least until you score enough dolphin saves, bird scares, shark beatings in the career mode.JUST LET ME SURF FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!Did these guys even PLAY this monstrosity before putting it on the shelves???If they're not all on welfare after putting this out (they should be), I hope they do a new version where YOU ONLY HAVE TO SURF!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sickest version yet!
GC is the perfect platform for this title....I have been patiently waiting for TWS to respond to KSPS since being released, and I am not disappointed. The graphics are the best yet...even over the XBOX, and the game play is solid.Honestly I play the career mode, just to unlock levels, and the 13 hidden surfers so that I can free surf. This game has the best-simulated surfing feel and it has a ton of over the top tricks to go along with it.The problem I had with KSPS was the sliding feel, and lack of connection to the wave, which is perfectly executed in TWS Next Wave (Kind of a dumb title).
If you are a surfer then you will love this game.....if your not, I really don't care about you anyway! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Evolution Skateboarding has features that are brand-new in the extreme sports game genre. Players skate across eight sprawling fantasy levels that are 200 percent larger than the levels seen in Konami’s previous skateboarding titles, and gameplay is enriched by intense boss battles that must be completed to progress through the game. Players will come face-to-face with a giant spider and a runaway truck as they grind their way to the next level. Topping off the game’s rich feature set are in-game tools that allow players to design their own stunts and skaters. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A bunch of great ideas executed poorly.
This game is packed with innovative ideas, but none of them are executed well. Metal Gear Solid fans will be happy to know that Solid Snake is a playable character from the start, and the Tony Hawk-based control scheme is easy to learn. From there, everything else is hell. Boss battles are stupid and repetitve, and control of your skater is bad. Objectives are nothing new, along with many of the park designs. Creating a trick sounds good, but what fun is it if you can never pull off the trick? It is not completely bad, as tricks are fun, especially because you can catch some big air. But when games like TONY HAWK 4 are on the market, why should you bother with this? ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars As with the PS2 version, this is not a good game.
Well, this port is slightly cleaned up. Graphics are sharper and control is mildly better. Otherwise, this is the same [stupid] game as before. Trick system is Tony Hawk based, but pulling off tricks is terrible. The focus is on combat, which is lame and useless. The mission objectives that have to be completed in the levels are some of the worst yet. They are very frustrating. Racing is not very good, thanks to a computer AI that always catches up to you. Pulling tricks is somewhat entertaining, but the fun goes away shortly. SSX and SSX TRICKY are much better games. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a good game
I like the game Beach Bandits.I like to do the cheats, and I play against my friends. It is a fun game. There's different kinds of challenges, and sometimes there's even hidden things to climb up.It's kind of hard to get past the third level.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nickelodeons best game ever!
When i saw this game in the shop i thought it wasn't gonna be a stunner, but i bought it, took it home and put it in the console......a few moments after that i WAS IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME, i got hooked from the beginning. Most other games made by nickelodeon are a bit too boring and ..well rubbish but this one is totaly the opposite! Robot smashing was not what i expected but i got it! The best part of the game is breaking into the robot bases and infiltrating the secret rooms, from being hypnotised with twister to the final showdown at the end(i wont tell you what happens as it will ruin the game) this game is sure to satisfy, buy it now this game is one of those unique games that is excellent from start to fininsh.

5-0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best game on the planet!
Personally, I like The Legend of Zelda:The Wind Waker best, but this game was awesome!
It is like a Tony Hawk but more fun! It has a plot and even after the game is over you get to play different sections of the game!
There is no blood, which I felt better beacuse. (No violence!)
That's why I rated this game 5 stars!***** ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for younger kids!
My 6 y/o has played Tony Hawk with his older cousins and I never really liked the "grung" characters and the subliminal (in my opinion)music. Then we rented this Disney game and were thrilled with a great alternative for younger kids! They can do all the tricks, wrack up lots of points, and unlock the higher levels.Lots of fun settings and characters! He really liked creating his own characters that look like real kids! Good clean fun for the younger kids who don't need to be exposed to Tony Hawk yet!If younger kids can quickly beat this game, then perhaps they are spending too much time in front of the screen!Great for the younger kids! Thanks, Disney!

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than you'd think.
This game isn't bad, despite people thinking anything Disney is horrible. It has very similar mechanics as the Tony Hawk series, but it falls short in the game variet of the THPS series. That doesn't mean it isn't fun, however. The game will be more fun than THPS4 in your first time through, but it won't keep you playing forever. All in all, it's a good rental/buy if you're a Disney fan... if not, just get Tony Hawk.

4-0 out of 5 stars Go Goofy Go!!!!
My 6 year old pick this game out himself and has been playing everyday before he goes to school and the the last activity he does at night. He just loves the action of this game and to be truthful we love playing it with him.I recommend this game to the young at heart. ... Read more
