    Editorial Review

Comic book artist Jhonen Vasquez's outré sci-fi spoof, which ran on Nicktoons at Night from March 2001 to December 2002, remains the object of a vociferous cult following. Pressure from the fans compelled Nickelodeon to resume production of Invader Zim twice before the show was cancelled permanently. The title character is a zealous, none-too-bright agent from the Irken Empire posing a human boy. Zim imagines he's gathering vital information for the imminent conquest of Earth; the Irken leaders actually sent him here to get rid of him. With the rather spotty assistance of Gir, his robot sidekick disguised as a dog, Zim alternately sneers at humanity and gets himself into trouble. The only person who recognizes Zim as an alien is his UFO-obsessed classmate, Dib.

The two-disc set is loaded with extras that will delight fans of the show, including commentaries by Vasquez and several of the story and voice artists, a second "commentary" of pigs grunting, subtitles in Irken, and the original pilot for the series. The uninitiated may find Invader Zim suggests a cross between Dexter's Laboratory and Jimmy Neutron re-imagined by Tim Burton. The bizarre designs, over-the-top vocal performances, and bodily function jokes are not for the faint-hearted, but they're not supposed to be. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Cartoon
Invader Zim was one of the best cartoon's on Nick. With a alien named Invader and a little robert named Grr. This is one of my fav shows ever, even though it wasnt on for long I still love it. Just watching Invader and his ideas. If you like aliens or purple and green you will love it. Or if some kid in your school named Dik, or someother kid is obessed with aliens and things your one get this movie for ideas I dont know what that was about so I will shut up..

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For Us On Earth And Irk
Invader Zim is THE best show ever. It gives me everything I need for a good laugh. It's random, different, interesting and funny at the same time. To anyone who likes shows like Ed, Edd n Eddy or Spongebob: This is a great addition.

Zim is the little ailen sent on a "secret mission" to Earth. But he was really sent there so he will be as far from the Almighty Tallest as possible. While Zim thinks he's trying to destroy Earth, he uses a pathetic disguise as a human kid and only Dib can see through it.

Dib is the paranormal one who knows (and is the only one who does) that Zim is an ailen trying to "take over Earth". Everyone in Skool thinks he's crazy. He has no friends either.

Gaz is downright exactly like me when I'm mad. She looks like me, acts like me, same eating habits as me, but this is not about me. Gaz is kinda gothic looking. Loooooves Game Slave (2), pizza and junk food.

Gir is exactly like me when I'm happy. Gir is the funny one, the happy one, a robot and we both LOVE PIGGYS AND MOOSES!!!! He was built by the Almighty Tallest with an old Sir and trash in his head.

Professor Membrane is Dib and Gaz's dad. He is constantly busy and the inventor of Super Toast! He's a scientist who is never really in the show often. He's much to busy. But he's more funny than smart.

Almighty Tallest sends worthy ailens to destroy a planet. For Zim, they just wanted him as far from them as possible. They pretended he was on a secret mission and Zim fell for it.

Pack in screaming, laughing, interest, all the characters and you have the best show in the universe -- Invader Zim. This DVD is worth every penny.

5-0 out of 5 stars This DVD is great!

Another cracked animated series from the Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" programming block, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Volume One's blend of superhero action and skewed humor should provide plenty of nourishment to fans of offbeat animation. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force are a squabbling trio of fast-food items (milkshake, fries, and a ball of hamburger meat) that have joined together to fight a host of monsters, aliens, and mad scientists in their native New Jersey.Fans of traditional cartoons may find the surreal plotlines and low-fi animation unmanageable, but viewers who enjoy other Adult Swim programming like Space Ghost Coast to Coast (series creators Chris Willis and Matt Maiellaro are veterans from that show) will find the Force's adventures side-splitting. The two-disc set, which features 16 episodes from the series' first two seasons, is supplemented by commentary by Willis and Maiellaro on three episodes, including an early version of "Rabbot." Disc 2 has a pair of Easter eggs that feature deleted scenes. --Paul Gaita ... Read more

ATHF is great. I have nothing to add to the other positive reviews, except maybe hats off to Sean Hannity for a masterful performance as Shake. We're talking Oscar!

5-0 out of 5 stars Adult Swim Classic
The show is the story of the Aqua Teens:Frylock,Shake,& Meatwad.Frylock is what holds everyone together while Shake and Meatwad get into trouble. When the do get in trouble it usually irritates Carl, there next door neighbor, who gets things done to him that is unimaginable.Meatwad is my favorite,he has the innocence of a child and the language of an adult. He has some great one liners.Shake is the one trying to do things against what Frylock says or trying to get Meatwad in trouble. Also, look out for the Mooninites who pop in every once in a while and in my opinion make the best episodes. This set has a few extras and it is reasonably priced. You can breeze through this set on a rainy day and I fully reccomend it.

    Editorial Review

To the ranks of shows too brilliant and outrageous for prime time (The Ben Stiller Show, Andy Richter Controls the Universe), add Seth McFarland's Family Guy. This animated series, which debuted after the 1999 Super Bowl, simply sparked too much controversy and offended too many sensibilities to survive (Entertainment Weekly dubbed it "the Awful Show They Just Keep Putting on the Air"). That the Fox network also played hackysack with its schedule, ensuring viewers would not be able to find it, sealed its fate (it was cancelled in 2002). This boxed set containing all 28 episodes from the first two seasons is payback for the show's devoted cult following, who may be moved to echo the words of infant Stewie Griffin, the megalomaniacal 1-year-old bent on matricide and world domination: "Victory is mine!"

The dysfunctional Griffins of Quahog, Rhode Island, invite comparisons to The Simpsons. The testicular-chinned father, Peter Griffin, is a clueless oaf in the Homer mold. "Peter, what did you promise me last night?" asks his long-suffering wife Lois in one episode. "That I wouldn't drink at the stag party," he replies. "And what did you do?" she asks. "Drank at the stag part--oh ho ho, I almost walked into that one," he cackles. Other family members include teenage daughter Meg, a desperate high school social pariah; 13-year-old son Chris, a chip off his father's blockhead; and Brian, the family's sarcastic talking dog. But this series' true inspiration is football-pated Stewie (voiced by McFarlane, who earned an Emmy), who was born to be a Bond villain once he escaped his mother's "ovarian bastille." Family Guy recklessly ventured where The Simpsons feared to tread. In one episode, Meg's one and only friend turns out to be the member of a suicidal cult. In another, Death (voiced by Norm McDonald) becomes an unwanted houseguest. Each episode plays fast and furious with surreal flashes (in one episode, Peter turns his house into a puppet) and pop-culture references and TV, movie, and commercial parodies that invite repeated viewings. Freed from its own family-hour bastille and the whims of dim network executives, Family Guy can be appreciated at last on its own profane, sacrilegious, and irreverent terms. Welcome to the DVD family, Griffins. --Donald Liebenson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good show...
Family Guy is a good show, but it reminds me a lot like The Simpsons, you have Peter(Homer), Louis(Cant spell the Simpsons girls name)..Chris(Bart),Megg(Lisa) and Stewie(Meggie)...Peter and Homer both like Beer and TV..and they can be a bit rude. Lous and Simpson's mom work. Chris and Bart I dont really see much for them Lisa and Megg not much Megs a bit unpopular..and Stewies more evil and Meggie looks like she would turn out to be a sweet girl...Dont get me wrong I love Family Guy but its so much like the Simpsons, Its a funny show and all dont get me wrong.

1-0 out of 5 stars Who Would Be A Stupid Dumb Idiot To Watch This Stupid Show!
I agree with the review and it was titled This Show Is Not Funny At All. But anyways i hate family guy. I wish this show was cancelled because this show is stupid. I don`t know why people are saying this show is funny. Peter and Lois argue and thats boring and stupid. The Simpsons are better than this stupid show. Homer is way funny and better than Peter. Chris is stupid and annoying. Maggie is better than Stewie. You know what something is stupid because how can a one-year-old baby talk. Thats stupid. Maggie don`t talk. So don`t waste your money on this crap. I suggest that y`all waste on The Simpsons because it has a lot of laughs.

4-0 out of 5 stars An icredibly funny show but...
it loses a star for being so, so unoriginal. The griffins are basicly the Simpson family only more extreme in most senses. Peter is Homer only fatter and stupider. Plus they have a stupider son, avery socially inept daughter, and Lois is the same patriarchal mother figure as Marge. Stuwey is pretty much Maggie only even smarter (and pretty much a rip-off of Rex in the episode where Ralph falls in love with Lisa) I can say though that Brian is pretty original. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Set in the year 3000, Futurama is the acme of sci-fi animatedsitcom from Simpsons creator Matt Groening. While not as universallypopular as The Simpsons, Futurama is equally hip and hilarious, thanks to its zippy lateral-thinking contemporary pop cultural references, celebrity appearances (Pamela Anderson and Leonard Nimoy are among a number ofguest stars to appear as disembodied heads in jars), and Bender, a distinctlyHomer Simpson-esque robot. Part of Futurama's charm is that with decadesof sci-fi junk behind us, we've effectively been living with the distant futurefor years and can now have fun with it. Hence, the series stylishly jumblesmotifs ranging from Lost in Space-style kitsch to the grim dystopia ofBlade Runner. It also bridges the gap between the impossible dreams ofyour average science fiction fan and the slobbish reality of their comicreading, TV-watching existence. Groening himself distinguishes his two seriesthus: "The Simpsons is fictional. Futurama is real."

The opening season (premiered in 1999) sees nerdy pizza delivery boy Frytransferred to the 31st century in a cryogenic mishap. There, he meets thebeautiful, one-eyed Leela (voiced by Married with Children's Katey Sagal)and the incorrigible alcoholic robot Bender. The three of them join Fry's great(great, great, etc.) nephew Professor Farnsworth and work in his intergalacticdelivery service. Hyper-real yet strangely recognizable situations ensue--Frydiscovers he's a billionaire thanks to 1,000 years' accrued interest, Leela mustfend off the attentions of Captain Kirk-like Lothario Zapp Brannigan, and Fryaccidentally drinks the ruler of a strange planet of liquid beings. --DavidStubbs ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great, superb!!!
I love this show!!! It's equally as funny as Family Guy and almost as funny as the Simpsons. A must buy if you love those 2 shows. The features aren't the best, but they are good enough to polish off this set. Good commentary, but otherwise lame animtics and deleted (for good reason) scenes, and a so-so documentary, but the shows are worth the buy. Get it now!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This season and the second season are great.
I have watched and owned every season of Futurama, except the 3rd season, and the first season I think is one of the best. The humor is new, and very funny. I like it much better than season 4, which was dry, stupid, and the humor made no sense, like they would make people saying, "Huh?" and that would be the joke. Get the first and second season, but borrow season 4. As for season 3, don't ask me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly strong season
Many of my favorite shows always tend to have a rough season because they have to establish their characters and all the relationships. Futurama, most likely due to the seasoned veterans who worked on Simpsons and this at the same time or did this after leaving Simpsons, ended up making a great show without the kind of mishaps first seasons tend to have.

The series starts off with the pilot Space Pilot 3000 when 24 year old Fry is working a dead end job and has a cheating girlfriend. While on a prank pizza delivery to a cryogenics factory, he accidentally gets frozen 1000 years, waking up on New Years Eve 2999. From there he meets strange aquatic semi-doctor Dr. Zoidberg, his great great great.... nephew Professor Farnsworth and his crush, one-eyed Leela. The Professor runs a delivery service through space to help fund his research projects so Leela, Fry and amoral bending robot Bender become his crew.

One thing you should know is that the series had many scheduling problems or pre-empts(thanks to Fox and their stupid football games), many episodes didn't even air during their original air-date or were only half-aired. So if you look at many first season guides, the 9th episode "Hell is Other Robots" is often regarded as the "finale" since it aired in May while next episode "Flight to Remember" was in November however on here the 13th episode "Fry and the Slurm Factory" is the finale.

This first season had many memorable moments including the secret of Slurm, the crew's trip to a big garbage ball with some familiar cameos, Fry and Bender as roommates or the introduction of the most self-absorbed captain, Zapp Brannigan and his sidekick, alien Kif Kroker.

Also, nicely done is the fact that all episodes have commentary with usually a big number of guests with series creator Matt Groening(also created Simpsons) and exec. producer David Cohen with a rotating staff of writers, directors and voice talent. None of that Family Guy 2 commmentaries-a-disc crap.

There's highlight episodes and is a great place to start for what was a very hilarious series(stupid Fox and their cancelling).

    Editorial Review

America's first family of dysfunction, the Simpsons, appear in all their depraved glory in this wonderful DVD compilation of their show's premiere season. Fans accustomed to the slick appearance of the later episodes will be delighted by the rougher nature of these earlier episodes, when the characters weren't as well defined (Homer isn't quite as dumb as he is in later seasons) and the animation was still evolving. This only adds to the charm of these 13 episodes, which begin with "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire," the December 1989 Christmas special in which a down-and-out Simpson family adopt Santa's Little Helper. Throughout the season, familiar faces are introduced, as we catch first glimpses of Smithers, Mr. Burns, the Flanderses, and Patty and Selma. Highlights of the season include "The Crepes of Wrath," in which Bart is sent to France as an exchange student ("Don't mess up France the way you messed up your room"); "Bart the Genius," in which Bart ends up in a school for the gifted; and "Krusty Gets Busted," in which Bart's lifelong animosity with Sideshow Bob begins. --Jenny Brown ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for a debut season
Cartoonist Matt Groening who did the Life is Hell comics decided to make a show which started as 1 minute shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show. There Fox expanded the shorts into actual episodes making the Simpsons a spin-off of sorts. And here we have Season 1's first 13 episodes that while not greatly animated(it was their first season after all) it still started a great show and even a phenomenon.

The season starts with the holiday episode Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, which finds Homer without a christmas bonus and Marge having to spend all their money on removing Bart's tattoo which he thought would be cool. In the end, they adopt Santa's Little Helper, a racehound dog.

In Homer's Odyssey, Homer gets fired and he ends up becoming a big safety guy and gets re-hired at the plant as a safety technician. In the Call of the Simpsons, Homer buys a cheap RV and the family get stranded in the woods with Homer being an unlikely Bigfoot sighting.

Life on the Fast Lane as Marge getting a bit too close to her bowling instructor, who utters the famous(maybe) line about brunch("you don't completely get what you get at breakfast but you get a good meal!"). The Crepes of Wrath has Bart becoming part of a foreign exchange student to France while an Albanian spy is sent to live with the Simpsons.

Krusty Gets Busted is exactly that and Bart and Lisa try to find ways to clear his name. Probably the first real introduction of the ever-popular Sideshow Bob. The finale Some Enchanted Evening as Homer and Marge getting a babysitter only it's a notorious Babysitter Bandit. This was actually the first to be made but had to be re-sent to Korea(where they finish up the animation) so it became the finale.

It's funny looking at this set as it's probably one of the only seasons of the show that you can rightly say it's the first season. Half the time with reruns I can't tell what season it is but still it's a very good start to what would become a 16 season series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless And Essential; The Best 'Cartoon' Series Ever
The Simpsons needs absolutely no introduction, and after 16 years on the air, it's pretty hard to talk about it in a review without heaping on the superlatives. Everybody in the world knows what The Simpsons is, and just how it has defined popular culture since its debut. Most critics agree that this is, by a large margin, the greatest TV series ever created. I'm not sure if I quite agree with this, but over time this may be the case. You have to understand that, even though I have been familiar with the show for as long as I can remember, it is only recently that I have taken a serious interest in it, which has culminated in the purhcase of The Complete First Season of The Simpsons on DVD.

The Simpsons is great for a number of reasons. One of these is that it works on so many levels. The dumbest person in your family can appreciate it for its humour in the literal sense, but also the most intelligent person in your family can appreciate it for the use of irony, satire and various other comedic devices that make it such an intelligent programme. Creator Matt Groening said that with the first season on The Simpsons, he had no idea what he was doing. This may have been the case, but he was definitely doing something right. This season contains only 13 episodes which the FOXnetwork commissioned with a budget of $10 million. This was a risk at the time back in late 1989, but it has since paid off; the profit FOX has made from this phenomenon is now estimated at inexcess of a cool $1 billion.

The first episode of Season 1 is "Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire," which is a brilliant introduction to the family at Christmas. Homer failure as a department store Santa Claus, Bart's costly tatoo removal and a bad day at the dog track leave the family disheartened. Things look up when Homer brings home Santa's Little Helper and the family realise the true meaning of Christmas. "Bart The Genius" sees Bart switching I.Q. exams with Marten Prince, which results in a placement at a school for geniuses. His conscience soon gets the better of him, though, and Bart confesses all. "Homer's Odyssey" is a great episode where Citizen Homer is fired from his job and is caught in a web of nuclear hazards and public safety campaigns. "There's No Disgrace Like Home" is a true classic which sees Homer attempt to fix the major problems within his family after the realisation that his family is the worst in town. A visit to Dr. Marvin Monroe's facility is the hilarious high point.

"Bart The General" is an amazing episode which sees Bart form his own army to get back at Nelson, who beats him up after school for attempting to protect Lisa! In "Moaning Lisa," we see Lisa slip into her childhood depression! How can she be happy with so much suffering in the world? She finds comfort in her saxaphone, and a chance encounter with bluesy be-bop 'Bleeding Gums' Murphy. In "Call Of The Simpsons," the family take a trip into the woodland after Homer buys an RV in an attempt to compete with his annoying neighbour Ned Flanders. Of course, he crashes the RV over the edge of the cliff, which forces the family to survive in nature, amongst eagles, grizzly bears and Bigfoot! "The Telltale Head" sees Bart desperate to fit in with a bunch of rebellious teenagers that he is prepared to go to any lengths. This results in him cutting off the head of the local town's statue, Jebediah Springfield! "Life On The Fast Lane" is a great episode that sees Marge annoyed at Homer's lack of compassion towards her on her birthday. She turns to bowling in an attempt to try and make some use of the stupid bowling ball that Homer bought for her (or himself). She meets a man who tears her marriage apart - temporarily - before she is reunited with Homer.

"Homer's Night Out" is a classic in which Homer is caught on camera with an exotic dancer doing a bellydancer. Marge is unfuriated and forces Homer to teach Bart a lesson about women and their role as strong individuals in contemporary society. "The Crepes Of Wrath" sees Bart's bad behaviour reach fever pitch. In an attempt to control this, Principal Skinner sends Bart to France in exchange for an Albanian student. Bart leanrs how much his family means to him after his Hellish time. "Krusty Gets Busted" is a brilliant episode which sees the funny clown framed for robbery. The final episode of the season is the hilarious "Some Enchanted Evening," which sees Homer desperate to impress Marge after she is dissatisfied by his treatment of her. They go for a romantic meal and hire a babysitter for the children. Little do they know that their children are in the deadly hands of the notorious Babysitter Bandit!

This season sees the introduction of many well-loved characters, such as Marge's sisters, Patty and Selma, Ned Flanders and his diddly family, Montgomery Burns and his extremely heterosexual(!) sidekick Smithers, the legends that are Itchy and Scratchy, Grandpa Simpson, Reverend Lovejoy and his wife Helen, Krusty The Clown, Sideshow Bob and many others! This season also spawned many popular catchphrases such as "Ay carumba!" and the classic "D'oh!"

The hilarity of The Simpsons lies in its genius to turn traditional, Middle American values and flip them on their head. It shows America as the country it really is, without any sense of guilt or remorse, and because of this we love it. It is a bold, original, honest show that is totally one of a kind. Nothing like this will ever exist again, and the syndication of the show will literally run for decades and decades. We see ourselves in these characters because we are familiar with their ways of thinking. The Simpsons is so embedded in our public consciousness that I don't even have to go into as much detail about the characters of the show, it's premise or its creation as I would with any other show. All you need to know is that this DVD is essential, but be warned, once you buy this you've got at least another 17 to buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great start...
This is one of my favorite shows i've ever seen.It started with some great episodes like "Bart the General" and
"Bart the Geniuse" which will have you laughing till it hurts.Do your self a favor and pick up the series if you haven't already. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Home Movies: Season One is a television treasure that almost wasn't. After five episodes in 1999, the bright and sometimes brilliant animated satire was yanked from UPN's schedule and was rescued by Cartoon Network's late-evening "Adult Swim" programming, where it thrived for a few more seasons. Created by Loren Bouchard and Brendon Small (who provides the autobiographical voice of the show's 8-year-old hero, Brendon Small), Home Movies concerns the angst-ridden adventures of a fatherless boy who can't quite handle typical childhood challenges (school, sports) but, in his stumbling way, is advancing toward his dream of becoming a filmmaker and actor. With a manner and voice suggesting a cross between David Spade and Woody Allen, Brendon struggles--sometimes with sardonic wit, sometimes with heartbreaking candor--to protect his shaky sense of personal security while also trying to be taken seriously as an artist.

Brendon lives with his single mom, Paula (wonderfully played by Paula Poundstone until episode 6, when she was replaced by the equally effective Janine Ditullio), whose own neuroses peak during some very funny moments. Among these is a school meeting that finds her removing her sweater and spouting a string of obscenities, a writing class that ends repeatedly in make-out sessions with a nameless slinger of sexy doggerel, and a disastrous date with Brendon's soccer coach, a hefty bully and all-around loser, John McGuirk (H. Jon Benjamin). McGuirk is Brendon's foil throughout the series, a drunk with rage problems and dubious ethics who often leans on the young hero as a confidante when he isn't making the poor kid run extra laps. The show's dialogue comes fast, biting, and painfully honest, characters frequently talk at the same time, and some of the best material is in the short dramas that Brendon tapes with friends Melissa (Melissa Bardin Galsky) and Jason (also H. Jon Benjamin). Home Movies is not to be missed by anyone who enjoys urbane comedy, animated or otherwise. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank You!
About a year ago, there was a petition on a website to have this genius show brought to DVD.I signed it, knowing that this show which has a small niche audience probably would never see the light of day.I'm happy to say I was proven wrong.

I honestly can't say much more than some of the excellent reviews and show synopsis here on Amazon.com.My plea is for those out there who are reading these to pick up a copy of it.Support this series.Family Guy was given a second chance because of DVD sales.I wish Home Movies would be given one. It's a remarkable series that, as one person here has already said, is truly adult. The situations that adults go through, but put in children characters simply increases the satire of human life.

All of the characters are unique. You won't find one brand of humor here. Each character has a specific voice and the humor derives from this. This is by far one of the best series that I've seen on Adult Swim. And just know that in my opinion, the series gets better in the next season.Overall an excellent series that I will watch over and over again.

4-0 out of 5 stars gotta hand it to 'em
Cartoon Network knows how to get good shows. like what they did with Family Guy, putting it back on the map, Home Movies became that show that everybody dismissed and can't get enough of.but the show is too real to not be watched (don't dis the language i am from los angeles).i have to admit though that i do not like Paula's voice on the first Dvd, and the humor was a bit lacking as well, but disks two and three more than made up for it.since i began watching home movies during the second season some of these episodes were kinda new to me.but luckily i did recognize some.
some of the funniest moments come from coach macguirk yelling at melissa or the exchanges betwee him and brendan (and hell even coach macguirk and mr. lynch).next to Jason he is the funniest character.
overall, this dvd was definitely worth my while and i recommend it to anyone interested in the show.

5-0 out of 5 stars `I Don't even like Soccer'
    Sunday, January 16, 2005 / 5 of 5 / `I Don't even like Soccer'
Like most others I caught this first on Adult Swim, wandering around the television wasteland one night I watched Space Ghost hosting a diverting talk show.Interspersed with that was the first season of Home Movies.I was immediately taken in by the sharp, snarky dialogue as well as the crudity of the animation with its jangled lines and shimmering presentation. As with South Park, it's easy to get past that as you begin to listen and follow the story arcs.Brendon Small makes his home movies as a precocious 8 year old, employing his friends Melissa, and Jason. My favorite character of course is soccer-non-coach John McGurk who spouts forth knuckle dragging philosophy and pontificates with Brendan as his charges run about the field without any concept of or game plan.Seeing McGurk with the kids is a riot, but it's when he interacts with adults that things go up a notch and his shortcomings become painfully aware; like attempting to use a fax machine, or coffee maker, trying to come to grips with the concept of a mortgage, mooning his landlady and moving out of his apt. before he has secured another, and his anger management techniques.Jason too to a lesser extent is a supporting cast gem, always picking, flicking, or having some thing running from his nose he tirelessly and thanklessly throws himself into Brendon's productions. The rest of the characters in the world serve excellently to buoy the stories, and they do a wonderful job, particularly Brendon's mom who is supposed to hold it all together and does so by the edge of her fingernails. Here's to the next seasons DVDs when they arrive.

For years, animation buffs have waited impatiently for the Warner Bros.cartoons to appear on DVD. The Warner shorts never commanded the budgets andprestige of the Disney and MGM films, and won fewer Oscars than they deserved. Butdecades after the best ones were created, they remain the quintessentialHollywood cartoons: brash, fast-paced, aggressively funny and uniquely American.Virtually everyone in the U.S. under the age of 60 grew up on these films, intheaters and on TV. The 56 cartoons in the set (out of a studio output of over 1,000) weretransferred from good prints--which means the viewer can see dust, scratches, andoccasional mistakes by the cel painters. The films are all presented uncut, indefiance of the killjoys who have insisted on censoring alleged "violence" inthe versions shown on television. Warner Bros. is obviously testing consumer response with this set. Althoughthe erratic selection includes many classics, purists will argue (correctly)that it offers neither a fair representation of the directors' oeuvres, nor anything approaching a coherent history of the characters or studio style. (Nearly half the films were directed by Chuck Jones; only three are by BobClampett, and there's nothing by Tex Avery or Frank Tashlin.)But it seems petty to carp about omissions and biases when the discs offerexcellent, uncensored prints of some of the funniest films ever made in theU.S.--or anywhere else. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Start to a great collection
Wonderful cartoons!Genius in action. Not five starts because several cartoons included are not their best.Overall good quality and repeat watching is a must!

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid! Buck Solid!
Everybody at Disney has held up their end of the bargain of releasing classic cartoons on the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs. Now it's Warner Bros' turn with the Looney Tunes Golden Collection series.

This first set mostly covers the works of Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, and Friz Freleng in the late 40's up to the late 50's era. Out of all the cartoons in this set, I was surprised to see YANKEE DOODLE DAFFY make the cut. That was a cartoon I hadn't seen in long time and is still one my favorites. There are lots of other gems as well, like HIGH DIVING HARE, RABBIT OF SEVILLE, DUCK DODGERS IN THE 24 AND1/2 CENTURY, THE WEARING OF THE GRIN, BOOBS IN THE WOODS, RABBIT FIRE, PORKY CHOPS, THE FOGHORN LEGHORN, SPEEDY GONZALES, FAST AND FURRYOUS, KIT FOR CAT, and EARLY TO BET. The only dud in this set, however would have to be DOUGH FOR THE DO-DO, which is nothing more than a crummy '40s remake of Bob Clampett's best PORKY IN WACKYLAND.

Then there's the extras. Warner Bros. DVD sets don't usually pack a lot of extras, especially with behind-the-scenes stuff, but this set is fully loaded with extras. Wherever you go, you will find featurettes carrying a lot of info on each and every LT character and its claim-to-fame. Also in this you will find a 50-minute documentary called IRREVERENT IMAGINATION: THE GOLDEN AGE OF LOONEY TUNES, which goes the birth of Looney Tunes, its fame throughout the 30's-50's and how it lost its luster in the end. In addition you'll recieve tons of stuff from the vault, like the theme song of the 50s BUGS BUNNY SHOW, Storyboards for two cartoons, Still Galleries, the BOSKO THE TALK-INK KID pilot, and the 1975 two-parter BOYS FROM THE TERMITE TERRACE documetary.

So, with all this, just at a $49-$64 dollar tag-depending on which store you buy at-this a sheer must for any LT fan out there.

4-0 out of 5 stars Only A "Maroon" Would Hate This Set...
If you're like me, you've seen the entire body of classic Warner Bros. cartoons (some 1000 between 1930-1969) more times than you care to count. But if you haven't seen this unprecedented DVD collection, then as Bugs might say, "You ain't seen nothin' yet, Doc!"

To see these oft-rerun cartoons in DVD format is to see them for the first time. Digitally remastered, they are visually stunning, giving the viewer not old enough to have seen them in theaters a sense of how they must have looked when they first appeared on the big screen. The increased clarity only becomes bothersome in darker scenes, when one can see the dust particles on the original cels--it does in some cases overpower the action on screen.

The main reason to buy any DVD set, however, is the extras, and they're here in abundance. Of particular interest to me was the audio commentary by Stan Freberg for the cartoon "Rabbit's Kin." (In which Freberg voices the unforgettable Pete Puma). Decades later, Freberg expresses surprise that a "one-shot" character could be so memorable. He's being modest--while the Warner's writers shone as usual on that cartoon, what made it memorable was his hilarious voice characterization and line delivery ("Better give me a lotta lumps--a WHOLE lotta lumps!") As a treat to the fans, he reprises the voice several times in his commentary. (And can still do it).

Author and toon historian Jerry Beck was a consultant on this project, and his loving care shows. This is an animation set put together by an animation fan.

Among the extras, some of the more pleasant surprises are rarely seen clips from the Jack Carson movies "My Dream Is Yours" and "Two Guys From Texas." (In the first film, be sure to check out Carson and his female co-star in bunny suits, dancing alongside an animated Bugs). One can also see interstitial clips from ABC's "Bugs Bunny Show", long since edited into oblivion and unseen for four decades. Some of the "missing" footage is in black and white, the original color footage having been lost.

John Canemaker's 1975 documentary, "The Boys From Termite Terrace" is also on this set. Sharp-eyed fans might recognize segments later used in subsequent documentaries about the Warner's crew, but for first-time viewers it's a must-see. It contains, among other things, a rare interview with the painfully shy animation legend Tex Avery, who unfortunately left us just a few years later.

Speaking of Avery, isn't it something of an insult to his memory to show the aforementioned interview, but not any of his cartoons--not even the groundbreaking "A Wild Hare?" Oh, well.

There are other disappointments, albeit minor ones. For instance, the scarcity of Bob Clampett's material compared to that of Chuck Jones (one can only hope this is remedied in subsequent editions) and Warner's timidity in failing to include any of the "Censored 11". (The name fans have given to cartoons withdrawn from circulation because of racist content). These cartoons, however objectionable they may be to 21st-century audiences, are a part of history and should be treated as such. Warner's has failed to realize that sets like these are not merely for children. There is a growing audience of adult collectors out there, for whom the absence of these cartoons is inexcusable.

(Reviewer's additional note: Bob Clampett's cartoons are indeed represented on this set--one of them, anyway--the 1941 Bugs Bunny entry "Wabbit Twouble," with optional commentary by Michael Barrier. This cartoon is noteworthy for two things--the opening titles written in "Elmer Fuddese", and the debut of the "little fat Elmer," eventually abandoned after four cartoons. Listen for Clampett's comments on that unfortunate decision).

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if this set has done as much to sell DVD players as Milton Berle did to sell TV sets. Not a moment too soon, either, as these animated gems are rapidly disappearing from even cable television. ... Read more

Disney's 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman), and there's an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams's frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin's genie. Even if one isn't particularly moved by the love story between the title character (Scott Weinger) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Linda Larkin), you can easily get lost in Williams's improvisational energy and the equally entertaining performances of Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried (as Jafar's parrot). --Tom Keogh ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
Aladdin is a great movie, and it's one of the best out there. I would have to put this movie in my top 15 movies because it is so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars My All-Time Favorite!
This is the best movie ever! When a poor beggar boy from the streets named Aladdin rubs a lamp and a Genie who grants him 3 wishes pops out,Al's 1st wish is to be a prince so he can impress the lovely princess Jasmine, but will the evil and I mean,EVIL Jafar marry her instead,my favorite part is the magic carpet ride,oh,and the moral of the story is,you are who you are because of what's on the inside, not the outside, and Al's 3rd wish is the Genie's freedom.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not one of Disney's best...
I'm sorry, but Disney's Aladdin can hardly make it into the list of Disney animated classics. It feels as if it were made for Robin Williams to put on a show rather than to tell the classic Arabian Nights tale of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. The movie has fantastic animation but the charecters are uninteresting and boring, you will find yourself not being able to feel for them. The story is twisted dramatically from the original book which was something I didn't like, Disney should have focused more on telling the story than on coming up with ridiculous song sequences which is what this movie seems to be made of, remove the songs and you probably have a 30 minute short.
"Aladdin" doesn't have that old Disney touch of magic and beauty which earlier films like Bambi, Cinderella or The Rescuers had. This film is considered one of Disney's "big four" a most ridiculous remark, are they saying that this film is greater than Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or Pinocchio?I don't think so.
The plot?Simple.A street boy falls in love with Princess Jasmine and fights for her love with the help of Abu, his pet monkey, Carpet (A magic carpet) and the Genie, voiced by Robin Williams, a crazy and "groovy" genie who takes about 60% of the film.Too much "comedy" and not-needed songs make this film soul-less and one of Disney's least interesting cartoons.

The DVD is pretty grand for fans of Aladdin, I own it only for the reason of adding yet another Disney "classic" to my collection.Simply, this film is no more of a classic than such releases as Atlantis - The Lost Empire or Home on the Range.

Since his animated debut in 1971, four years after his initial appearance in Manga Action, Lupin III has remained one of the most popular characters in anime history. Created by artist Monkey Punch (Kazuhiko Kato), Lupin has starred in television series, feature films, and TV movies. These adventures are from the second TV season. Accompanied by crack shot Jigen, super-samurai Goemon, and sex bomb Fujiko, Lupin travels the world, pulling off fantastic heists and impossible escapes. Although he never manages to hang onto the loot, Lupin stays ahead of Interpol Inspector Zenigata, who chases the arch-thief with a fanaticism that rivals Wile E. Coyote's pursuit of the Road Runner. The decades-old animation looks decidedly cheesy, but the crude humor and offbeat appeal of the characters have won them countless fans on both sides of the Pacific. 5-0 out of 5 stars Classic anime!
Like many of the other reviewers here,I was introduced to Lupin &
company through the anime section of adult swim.I simply loved the charm of the show;the chemistry is all there.Lupin (the gentleman thief) and his wit,Jigen(the marksman) and his dry humor,Fujiko(the femme fatale) and her teasing alure and also Goemon (the samurai) and his fortune cookie-like messages of wisdom."The oak is proud like a man,but the blade is sharp like a woman!"Oh,and let's not forget the obsessive, zany Inspector Ziginata, whose attempts to catch Lupin are always in vain."I'LL GET YOU LUPIN!!"The show may seem a bit simple, and yes the drawings and color a bit dated(it was created in the early 70's),but like Speed Racer(although a bit more naughty!)this classic anime just has that special something that keeps you hooked!

Now for the dvd itself,I was pleased with the voice acting and the subtitle options;I personally watch it in english,as it's aired on adult swim.I'm almost positive that the english voice actress for Fujiko is the same one that does Faye Valentine on Cowboy Bebop and Suzuka on Outlaw Star!(compare them and listen for yourself) Speaking of Miss Fujiko, you get to see ALOT more of her on this dvd if you know what I mean!So no kids...
Yes,the "extras" where pretty lame, but I was just happy to have a nice collection of Lupin to watch whenever I want!If nothing else,I wished Pioneer would have gotten rid of those flimsy extras and instead added another three episodes!

In the end I was happy with my purcahse, and will buy other volumes to watch Lupin and his friends go on all sorts of gold heisting, tomb raiding, bank robbing adventures!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lupin is freakin hilarious
I first saw this show on Cartoon network and later found it it was from a long time ago, about 23 years worth and had a huge following. One day I am browsing around and I picked this up and was very happy with the content.THe only downfall with this dvd is no extras worthwhile, but the voice matching is great. This show's animation is dated for sure, but holds its own for the intentions. This four gang team is hilarious and I will pick up all the volumes.Lupin just has this wit, personality, cunningness, smart, and hilarious persoanility that you can not help but like the guy.The other characters around him balance eerything else out and the show has this great vibe to it.This show is as old as me and still holds its own as a series, it was ahead of its time.Pick this up for a animebuff, be warned they have sexual content in here with some dirty jokes thrown inso no kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Show- Buy it now!
I was introduced to this anime, like so many others, through Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block, and saw a few similarites between Lupin and I. So, I bought the DVD, and I must say, this is one of the best animes I think I've ever seen. It holds up well considering it was made in the 70's, and the dubbing is great. The only problem are the Subtitles...people who like watching animes in their original Japanese form will be dissapointed because the subtitles... ... Read more

Each of these two snazzy 20-minute installments is a self-contained and satisfying adventure tale about a futuristic hipster bounty hunter, from themost popular Japanese animated TV series of 1998. This is elegant action-comedyanime, with smoothly integrated CGI space-flight elements, gorgeousgraphics, blues harmonica and sax riffs on the soundtrack, and a no-sweatpost-Tarantino attitude. Despite occasional eruptions of gun-fu Asian-actionviolence, and some intimations of heavy-duty drug use (one especially noxious narcotic is administered as an aerosol spray, straight onto the user's eyeballs), the tone is surprisingly convivial. None of the generic tough elements are grim or mean-spirited. Lanky antihero Spike Spiegel is a planet-hopping freelance cop with a cyborg sidekick and a genetically enhanced Welsh Corgi assistant, and as many wisecracks as punchesget thrown. The emphasis is on clever twists of plot in an episodic short-storyformat. --David Chute ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars COWBOY BEBOP IS SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST ANIMES OUT THERE
This series is just full of surprises. It got the most in depted characters I have ever seen in anime since Neon Genesis Evangelion. The animation is brillant and well lets just say everything about the show is great okay.
I found the first session really good. The first episode was cleverly made because it shows what they are all about, think about it...when Spike complains about not having beef, it comes to view that they run short on money really fast. After they get the bounty, hat the every end Spike finally gets his beef which proves that is what they live for. Other characters like Eion, Faye Valentine get introduced later in this DVD. Edward is in the next DVD. You get to see a bit of Spike's past too. Which is great, I love character with a messed up past.

About every Anime fan out there should have already seen or heard about Cowboy Bebop. Its still and probably always will be my fave Anime series. From Director Shinchiro Watanabe (Samurai Champloo, Animatrix). Cowboy Bebop is easily one of the greatest and well known Anime. It follows the Journey of Spike Spiegel Ex-Red Dragon Clan member as he lives his life with long wanted Freedom from the Clan and still searching for his Love Julia. Now a Bounty Hunter working with Former Ex-Cop Jet Black they're constantly on the trail of Bounty Heads trying to earn enough Money to Eat for atleast another week. Great Music from Yoko Kanno and amazing fight scenes and great Set of Characters. Join the Bebop and Enjoy!

    Editorial Review

One of the most popular anime series of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion offers interesting characters, sophisticated direction, and solid storytelling. A giant meteor struck Antarctica in 2000, devastating much of the Earth. Since then, humans and the mysterious aliens known as Angels have been locked in a deadly struggle. In 2015, scientists at the NERV Center in the fortress-city of Tokyo 3 are developing ways to combat the Angels, notably the Human Enhancement Project and the giant battle robots called Evangelions. Fourteen-year-old Shinji Ikari, whose aloof father heads these research projects, is drafted to pilot Evangelion Unit 01. Shinji is a reluctant hero, as many mecha pilots are, but his reluctance is not just an arbitrary whim; it's rooted in his estrangement from his father. Shy and socially maladroit, Shinji displays a likable warmth the grimly taciturn teenagers in ordinary mecha shows lack. Rounding out the cast are Rei Ayanami, the silent, albino pilot of Unit 00; irrepressible Misato Katsuragi, who serves as a substitute mother to Shinji; technical expert Ritsuko Akagi; and Shinji's classmates Toji Suzuhara and Kensuke Aida. Evangelion offers a dark vision of the future, but director Hideaki Anno presents it very skillfully. Episodes include: 1. "Angel Attack," 2. "Unfamiliar Ceiling," 3. "The Phone That Never Rings," 4. "Rain, Escape & Afterwards." Not rated; suitable for ages 14 and up: robot vs. robot violence, brief nudity, and minor profanity. --Charles Solomon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The epic series begins!
The greatest anime epic of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion, begins with this disc, which contains the first 4 episodes of the milestone TV series. The artwork is simply stunning, and the plot, though barely beginning to take form, is deep as well (see review of Perfect Collection).

    The episodes are as follows:
The series begins with "Angel Attack," which showcases the stunning action this show contains right from the beginning!
The real robot action doesn't begin until episode 2, "Unfamiliar Ceiling-The Beast." The action sequence is simply brutal. However, it is somewhat divided into parts. It is stopped the moment Misato screams out Shinji's name, and he wakes up. But later into the episode, he starts dreaming, and it ends.
Episode 3, "The Phone That Never Rings," introduces 4 important new characters: Toji Suzuhara and Kensuke Aida, two BFFL and also Shinji's main allies outside of NERV; Hikari Horaki, the class representative; and Rei Ayanami, who was introduced in the first episode, but says her first words here. The action sequence is even more intense than before! The Evangelion burns off it's hand, and it stabs the angel to death!
Episode 4, "Rain Escape and Afterwards," kicks off the more adult side of the series. By that, I certainly do not imply that it is a semi-pornographic series. I am simply implying that children would not enjoy this episode at all, for it is all talk. Ultimately, though the box for the full set says that it is suggested for viewers age 12 and over, it should be higher, for a few of the episodes might bore viewers of that age group, including this one. Generally, the talk is important and really moves the series along, but the younger audiences want to see the action happen.

The bottom line: I feel that it is a well-rounded introduction to the greatest animated spectacle of all time. Drama, mild comedy, and blistering sci-fi action make up this series (for the most part), and it is a perfect mixture!

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent Start to the Series
I heard recently on National Public Radio that Neon Genesis Evangelion is "one of the most popular, and most controversial anime of all time."I have seen the first two volumes of Evangelion. So far it is not very controversial nor particularly riveting. The animation is so-so.The characters are not terribly likeable.

This DVD moves pretty slowly, although it has five episodes, a lot for one DVD.The story takes place in Japan after the Second Impact. The Second Impact was an event that wiped out most of Earth's population. Now the surviving population is trying to fight strange beings called "Angels," who want to destroy the rest of humanity.Depressing, right?Yes, it is.

The main character, Shinji, is recruited to pilot a huge Mecha called EVA 01.This creatures, for some reason yet unexplained, can only be piloted by fourteen year-olds.?????Also depressing is the cruel and horrifying emotional treatment of Shinji by his father, the brilliant scientist behind NERV, the organization that created and maintains the EVAS.There are two EVAS we know about so far.One is piloted by Shinji, the other by a girl named Rei.

In this volume, Shinji is beat up by a boy at school, shunned by his father, and screamed at and verbally abused by his female NERV captain.I am sticking with the series for now, as it is becoming a little more intriguing in volume two.

3-0 out of 5 stars how do i say this nicely
Picture & sound are remastered to perfection. This is THE GREATEST ANIME OF ALL TIME buy it.Sadly this is the worst commentary i have ever heard (hey try actually commenting on the film... not just one scream in it...).I was hoping for deep insight, instead i got voice actors recalling better days... anecdotes are fine but not the end all be all...this was the best anime of all time it deserves more. ... No one loves the cold months better than acerbic fat cat Garfield, who thrives on a bounty of junk food and traditional meals in the delightful collection of musical-comedy TV specials Garfield Holiday Celebrations. "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" finds the portly hero and airhead-sidekick Odie the dog scrounging through owner Jon's attic to find perfect costumes, then encountering ghosts and ghoulies that seem a tad authentic. "Garfield's Thanksgiving" is a screwball special in which Jon harasses veterinarian Liz into being his Turkey Day guest. Trouble is, Jon is clueless about how to cook a big bird; fortunately, starving Garfield has the good sense to call in Jon's spirited grandmother for a culinary rescue. Grandma shows up, too, in "A Garfield Christmas," about a family get-together that covers all the nice holiday stuff and, of course, lots of bickering, pouting, and jealousy. As long as Garfield gets his Yuletide lasagna, however, all is right with the world. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

In 1985, producer Phil Roman, and his cleverly-named animation company, Film Roman, won an Emmy for Garfield's Halloween Adventure. Two years later, A Garfield Christmas Special, an Emmy nominee, became an annually looked-for seasonal tradition. 1989 brought another Emmy for Garfield's Thanksgiving Special. That was also the year Jim Davis redesigned his comic cat. Film Roman would bring the new Garfield to life in a an ambitious weekly series, the wonderful Garfield and Friends, now out on DVD. Setting milestones in every area of animation, the carefully crafted, wittily written, winningly-voiced, subtle, amiable, ground-breaking show would establish Film Roman as a leading studio that would take animation to new heights with The Simpsons. Break out this DVD to warm the winter months. Like the Peanuts specials, these Garfield classics are best saved for the seasons, as a long-awaited part of the annual celebrations.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Garfield lovers, beware of Halloween ep 4 toddlers
I bought this DVD for myself. I love Garfield Christmas and wanted it on DVD, lucky for me they had 2 more holiday ep's on it. In my opinion the whole DVD's great, I love it. I played it every day until Christmas watching every episode no matter if it had passed or not.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the Halloween ep is kinda scary for toddlers. My son is 2.5 and was basically shaking, hiding behind me when the ghosts were swirling around when they got to the haunted house and he didn't like the man who told the story either.

When my son's around I just play the Thanksgiving and Christmas ep's, When he's gone I play them all. "Nice touch"... ... Read more

    Editorial Review

For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is!The full title is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy.It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the first two Batman movies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called ... Christmastown!Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightful James and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. As Roger Ebert noted in his review, "some of the Halloween creatures might be a tad scary for smaller children, but this is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen." --Jim Emerson ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must have
This is an all time great movie. I Love love love this movie and I think everyone should atleast see it once. Tim Burton is a genius. He makes things have emotions that you would never think of giving emotions to.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it
Tim Burton is one of the best directors out there. Words could not explain how good he is at making wonderful movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing movie plus awesome bonuses from the DVD
Words fail me when expressing how much I love this film. It first came out when I was in middle school and I have watched the film countless times since then; each viewing as entrancing as the last. I love this movie not only for it's visuals but also for its incredible music. I am a huge fan of Danny Elfman. Had he just put out an album with music like this without being attached to the movie I would have been happy, however, this incredible music is accompanied by spectacular visuals, ultimately creating an amazing experience.

It is obvious to me that Tim Burton is a fan of Edward Gorey; the influence is apparent in his artwork. All of the art in the movie is rather dark, and dreary. The whole movie is stop-motion animation yet the movie takes on an ambiance of being sketched with a pencil. The story is very creative and quit alluring. All the characters in the film are relatable in one way or another. Jack is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town. Though he is the King of fright, he longs for more in life, but he doesn't know what will fill that void. Then there is Sally. She longs to be free from her creator and wants to experience life on her own terms. Ultimately Jack discovers that the void he has been feeling is not from lack of fame but from lack of love, which he finds with Sally.

As far as the DVD itself, you get wonderful bonuses with it. The production, commentaries, and creating of the movie is very interesting. It's amazing the amount of work, patience, and talent that went into this movie. Then there is the short film Vincent which Tim Burton made years before his breakthrough in the film industry. Though it is only a few minutes long, it's so cute, creative and well done. I just love everything about this DVD; the movie itself plus all the extras.

4-0 out of 5 stars hilarious!
This was probably the best fairly odd parents movie! It's about of course Timmy Turner and his faeries. He is punished for watching this new tv show craze called Maho Mushi and kids are doing dangerous stunts from the show, which he starts to do also thats why he's punished. He isin't allowed to watch tv as punsihment. Later Vickey Timmy Turners's evil baby sitter comes in the scene and gets him in trouble as usual. His parents come home and yell at Timmy for not believeing that it was vickey's fault for like destroying something I forgot. He wishes to become part of the tv world (useing this magical clicker) so he can be away from Parents and he is sick of Vickey ruining his life. Thats where cosmo and wanda our favorite magical faeries come in. Heres where it gets funny. He becomes part of a tv show's wrold trying to find which ones he likes the best. (note:tv shows were not subtitled since they are copy right) for isntance

HOLD ON! SPOILER WARNING!:only read if you don't care about spoliers. If you don't want this part ruined skip this! and read the rest of my review!

    Dragon Ball Z/Pokemon (Maho Mushi)
    Scooby Doo
    The simpsons
Peanuts(you know snoopy charlie Brown yeah)
    Speed Racer
    Rug Rats
    Strawberry short cake
    Fat Albert
    Looney Tunes
    Bat Man
(one was a puppet cartonn my only guess is that it's muppets) or sesme street)
    Ninja Turtles
    Blues Clues
    and some others..

Soon, Vicky finds a clicker and wants to take over the world and the tv world. And there is this guy in a mask constantly following Timmy and his faeries. You'll be superised who it is! Later... His parents notice he's missing and get extremely worried and they try to finad a way to get through to Timmy to let him know that they love him.
And thats all for my review.

Anyways this was a great movie! It made me laugh out loud! The only reason I took 1 star away was because of the simalarities to Kim Possible the movie a sitch in time. I am afraid to point them out because they would be major spoilers. But if you saw the KP movie and your gonna see this just pay attention and you'll see what I mean. But overall this was a great movie!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Clever
My children loved this movie, as did my husband and I.My husband and I might have enjoyed it even a bit more because we understood all the parodies."Chucky Black and the Great Menorrah" was a hoot.If you love the "Fairly Odd Parents", you'll love this movie!

4-0 out of 5 stars Channeling Cartoon
I just often know how much animation has been with kids all over, and there are sometimes where those stories can be put to parody. For Nickelodeon, they seemed to have master it very well with the success of their 2001 breakthrough, The Fairly OddParents. The show has been one of those few hits that really has came out of nowhere to creep up to everybody as one of the most recent popular hit shows out there for Nickelodeon. The show also has dawned a few hit television movies as well: Abracastastrophe: and the recently televised one Channel Chasers.

Cahnnel Chasers deals with Timmy and his fairy godparents Cosmo & Wanda, as Timmy wants to just runs away from his family, after he feels very tired of his babysitter, Vicky ruining everything in his life, and blaming things on him. As Timmy escapes into television, his future self comes out of nowhere to warn him about Vicky entering the television signal as a attempt to rule the world, using of the magical remote controls Timmy wishes for. The story also includes parodies and charactures of famous shows on television including Looney Tunes, The Simpsons, Batman, Peanuts, and Space Ghost.

As in the story, Timmy's parents go out and search all over, not knowing Timmy was telling the truth about Vicky, and they do whatever it takes to make sure they still love him, and admit they were wrong about Timmy. The feeling of the story goes very well, and it proves that parents should listen to their kids much more than they think.

All in all, The Fairly Odd Parents: Channel Chasers is a very well created made for TV movie. If you've seen it on Nickelodeon, you definitely might want to get this on DVD. The story is just great, and very enjoyable. If you don't have Nickelodeon, you might want to get that before wanting to get this DVD.
