5-0 out of 5 stars Yay for Powerpuff Girls!
This is a hilarious cartoon series that adults can enjoy watching with their kids (rather than being annoyed)...well, actually the violence is a bit questionable for younger kids--the first time I ever saw the Powerpuff Girls, they were beating up Mojo Jojo, and punching his nose caused red blood to shoot out!

Well, funny cartoon.Lots of clever jokes (many of which most kids probably won't understand).

Annoyingly, as some viewers have pointed out, the episode selection is somewhat haphazard. On vol. 2 ("Down 'n' Dirty"), the first episode ("Birthday Bash") has Princess already in prison, and then four episodes later she's *introduced* in "Stuck Up, Up and Away."(It was NOT a "revealed origen" episode.)

If you want to use "educational value" as an excuse to get the Powerpuffs Girls on DVD, do what I did:Get the Hong Kong editions (Region 3; yay for region-free DVD-players!).As near as I can tell, they're identical to the U.S. editions, except that there's ACTUALLY a choice of language selection (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Thai) and subtitles (ENGLSIH, Chinese, Thai, and Bahasa).(They're even packaged in the same crappy snap cases, which is unusual for Hong Kong DVDs.)It's a lot of fun to watch a familiar show dubbed in another language, especially when it's something as silly as the Powerpuff Girls.Educational, too, if you're learning a second language.

Each disk has special features, usually bonus cartoons, but either I'm lacking some special software or else there are some serious misprints on the boxes, because I haven't been able to find any of the DVD-ROM features (not even on the U.S. edition of "Powerpuff Bluff" that I once rented).

In any case, highly recommend for anyone who likes funny cartoons.

5-0 out of 5 stars For Me and My Girls
Its somthing we can watch together. I find some childrens shows Mind numbingly boring but this is one that we can watch together.
there are things that go over thire heads like all the puns in the Beat-alls but I like it.Now if Only Dexters Lab and Courage the Cowardly Dog would come out on DVD we would be set.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Ha-ha!Very inventive!
Well, what can I say?I'm a grown man, but who says grown men can't enjoy cartoon? These Powerpuff girls are hilarious! So what if they win every battle? It's not something you take seriously like Justice League or something, and these are certainly not trying to be a new Justice League or X-Men.It's just a sublimely nutty series that pokes fun at the superhero mold, all thw while commenting on pop culture and contemporary America. The plots are actually pretty clever--there's always something in there that you wouldn't find in the ordinary cartoon, whether you're talking about Johnny Bravo or Dragonball Z.This is delightful cartoon WEIRDNESS at its finest! But if you really want something, check out the movie, which should be on video in a few months.Until then, adore the innocence, exhilirate in the brutality, and laugh your head off with the Powerpuff Girls. What'll they think of next? ... Editorial Review

This DVD compiles two previous VHS collections.

    Bubblevicious
This trio of crime-fighting superheroines must work around kindergartenobligations, and if you've seen the Cartoon Network series you knowthey must save the world before bedtime. But they rise to the challengewith the help of their guardian-creator, Professor Utonium. In theEmmy-nominated title episode, Bubbles gets fed up with being "the cuteone," while her comrades get the better assignments, so she takes on aseries of ugly baddies, resulting in many fires and explosions. Thereare five episodes on this 60-minute tape, including the double-episode"Uh-Oh Dynamo," which finds the girls battling a monster at the citypark. The trio finally vanquishes it from inside a huge robot, but notbefore the entire downtown appears leveled. In "Mr. Mojo's Rising," thegirls must rescue the professor when he is kidnapped by an evilmegabrained monkey. "Powerpuff Bluff" introduces three hoodlums whoimpersonate the girls and rip off Townsville's denizens, landing thereal girls a spell in the pokey. "Cat Man Do" will teach youngsters togo the shelter for their pets, as the kitty (voiced by Mark Hamill) thegals "rescue" from a crimelord's compound turns out to be a mind- controlling fiend. Parents scrutinizing violent content, beware;otherwise for ages 7 and up. --Kimberly Heinrichs

    Monkey See, Doggie Do
The Powerpuff Girls blends strong female figures with strikinggraphic design to create an action-packed cartoon for 5- to 9-year-olds(although parents should monitor the violent content here). Bubbles,Blossom, and Buttercup are three kindergartners with superhero powersthat help the mayor keep Townsville safe. There are five separateepisodes in this hour-long tape. In "Monkey See, Doggie Do," thevillainous Mr. Mojo Jojo is systematically turning townspeople intodogs. It's up to the Powerpuff Girls to break the spell--but can theysucceed even after Mojo turns them into Powerpups? "Mommy Fearest"paints a frightening picture of Professor Utonium's new date--goodthing the Powerpuffs see through her façade! In "Telephonies,"crank calls from the Gangrene Gang have the Powerpuff Girls roughing upMojo, Fuzzy, and Dim when they haven't done anything wrong. You'llnever guess who saves the day! If you've ever wondered what thecolorful Townsville would be like in black and white, check out "Mimefor a Change." When Rainbow the clown gets bleached and becomes theevil Mr. Mime, it's up to the Powerpuff Girls to put the color andsound back into Townsville. The Emmy-nominated "Bare Facts" details thePowerpuff Girls' rescue of the kidnapped mayor. The use of a blankscreen with audio to represent the blindfolded mayor's experience andthree distinct animation styles to underscore each Powerpuff's versionof the rescue is wonderfully effective and shows viewers just howdifferently Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom think. --TamiHoriuchi ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Toons=4 stars, DVD=2 stars
I like the Powerpuff Girls: they're cute, fun, and wholesome without being overly saccharine-sweet. There's a lot of irony and jokes to keep the parents entertained, with cuteness and action for the kids. And the parody-of-anime elements are good too.

The DVD itself could use a lot of work, though. First, the episodes seem to have no unifying element--they're just sort of randomly lumped together. This makes it difficult to choose which PPG DVD to buy. Unles you're going to collect them all, you just have to pick one and hope for the best.

Second, the features are really disappointing, as in almost nonexistent. There aren't even any subtitle or language choices--strangely, there is a language feature, but if you click on it, you find that the only choice is 2-channel English! What about Spanish, at least? And it's nice to be able to turn on English subtitles. My kids have English as a second language, and being able to read while listening helps them. (Heck, even native speakers could use subtitles to help them understand Bubbles when she's really angry.) And what about people with hearing trouble?

It's funny that, on the back of the box, one of the "Super Special Features Inside!" is "WATCH...your favorite Powerpuff Girls episodes!" Hey, since when is watching the episodes a *special* feature?

There are no scenes marked within an episode. Granted, PPG episodes are quite short, but why can't we at least skip past the titles? Instead, we have to fast forward.

The PC features--well, maybe they are fun, but I couldn't get them to work. I guess it might be my machine, but I kind of doubt it.

I'm not dissing the Powerpuff Girls--they're great. But the people who made the DVD have a lot to learn, and we shouldn't hesitate to call them on that.

5-0 out of 5 stars very funny!
this is hilarious for both kids and adults, boys and girls. this particular edition is my favorite, and the bonus features on the dvd are great!

3-0 out of 5 stars Powerpuff Bluff
This particular segment powerpuff bluff stunk.Who would ever believe this premise?I surely didn't and it wasn't funny either.I seriously had to consider whether I would let my son watch this because of the level of nasty humor in it.But I did think the other short toons were funny. ... Editorial Review

Townsville's cutest cops curb a brutish invasion by a new breedof mop tops in Meet the Beat-Alls, a Powerpuff caper so packedwith sly Beatles references it could sink a yellow submarine. Forgetthe under-15-minute running time--here, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossomface the longest and windingest road of their crime-fighting careers,as Mojo Jojo, Him, Princess, and Fuzzy Lumpkins band together to becomethe Beat-Alls--the Bad Four--a collective that soars to the poleposition on the most-wanted charts, sending girls screaming. When thepolice cry out for help--they need somebody--the girls gather theirgumption and go forward with a plan to break up the Beat-Alls: Theyenlist Moko, a white-costumed monkey with seductive Asian flair, topose as a performance criminal. Fellow simian Mojo Jojo, who thought hewas a loner, goes bananas; soon the other Beat-Alls beat it and thegirls bust in and break the news that Mojo's going nowhere, man. Allthat spoofing doesn't sap the Powerpuffs of their superheroine steam:In "Bought & Scold" they square off against Princess, whose daddythrows down the cash to crown her mayor; in "Bubblevision" they're asight for sore eyes, even though one of them looks dorky in her newglasses, as a giant ant rips through town; "Jewel of the Aisle" findsthem firing away at a gem thief posing as cereal hero Lucky CaptainRabbit King; and demented lout Lenny's plan to possess the Powerpuffscomes crashing down in "Collect Her." If you're old enough to get thegags, allow the title episode to edge out other potential Powerpuffpurchases, it's that clever. Otherwise, whatever propels you, restassured that not one of these episodes will let you down or leave youflat. For children ages 7 and up. --Tammy La Gorce ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What a rip!
This has got to be the WORST of the PPG DVDs I've seen yet! Nothing original, nothing new, and just plain boring. Why does everybody like this trash? All they do is use other songs from an old British band from the 60s and it's not "Beat-Alls" it's Beatles! They'd probably be rolling in their graves if they knew about this! It's NOT one bit funny whatsoever! I don't know what Craig was smoking when he made this and I really don't want to know.

4-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat solid collection of PPG episodes
Fortunately, "Meet The Beat Alls" is one of the few shining moments. When Mojo, Princess, Fuzzy Lumpkins, and Him realize that the four together can defeat the Powerpuff Girls, they team up to become the Beat Alls. Be it album covers, song titles, or that one person blamed for breaking up the Fabs, there are more Beatles references than one can throw a power punch at. I found forty-five. (Rating: 5)

"Bought And Scold" has Princess Morebucks having her father buy her Townsville. Once becoming mayor, the Princess makes crime legal, to the chagrin of the Powerpuff Girls, who become unemployed, so to speak. Quick, what's that saying, "hoist by her own petard"? Or is it she who lives by the decree... whatever. (Rating: 4)

"Bubblevision" has Bubbles having eye trouble and having to wear glasses. Unfortunately, Blossom and Buttercup laugh and make fun of her. Crimony, stop picking on Bubbles, girls! Pop culture reference: giant ants and the Blondie song "Attack Of The Giant Ants." (Rating: 5)

Inbetween are a few goodies, such as a brief clip of Mojo on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, the Apples of Stereo video of "Signal In The Sky," featuring the Fish Balloon from "Uh Oh Dynamo," and a brief look at the making of the Powerpuff Girls movie with creator Craig McCracken and the talented ladies who do the Powerpuff voices. Cavadini, Strong, and Daily, keep it up! (Rating: 4)

"Jewel Of The Aisle" involves a thief who steals a jewel which he accidentally drops in a factory manufacturing Lucky Cap'n Rabbit King Nuggets, which are a cross between Trix and Captain Crunch. Guess who buys the cereal? There's an obvious reference to the Trix rabbit and the thief's failed attempts to get it is reminiscent of Warner Brothers cartoons. (Rating: 3.5)

"Collect Her" is an unpleasant piece of work about Lenny, an obsessed Powerpuff Girls memorabilia collector who discovers to his horror that his collection is--(gasp!) complete. What else is there to collect? I say unpleasant because of what some fan obsessions can lead to: can anyone say John Lennon or Rebecca Schaeffer? (Rating: 2)

The Time Squad bonus cartoon involves going back in time to help out Lincoln, who, fed up with being dubbed Honest Abe, becomes a jerk bent on playing practical jokes on people. Including these other cartoons is reminiscent of the B-feature after the A-picture done back in the 1930's. (Rating: 3)

Overall rating: (5+4+5+4+3.5+3+2+3)/8=3.6875, rounded up to 4.

5-0 out of 5 stars All You Need is....The POWERPUFF GIRLS...oh, and LOVE too!
Awesome DVD!!!I love the Meet the Beat-Alls cartoon when I saw it on the air...totally cracked me up!Add in Mojo Jojo's commentary and you have a winner. We love Mojo Jojo! The mayor's commentary is also nice, as are the rest of the included episodes! Ice Sore... I like this 1 too, its ok. well, this is when Ms. Blossom gets her Ice Breath, & she freezes alot, & when she frezes the robbers, they get away fasta! NO! & y r even Bubbles & Buttacup soo mean? BUBBLES! Be urself! not violent like Bubblevicious! (4 stars)

Twisted Sister... This 1 has 2 kool parts, but its the worst episode on this DVD! Ill tell ya y soon. Well, our 3 girls r too exhausted 2 fight anymore, so they wanna make another Powapuff. Its Bunny! She sounds pretty goofy. Shes funny, but she arrests the wrong people, the Police! Its 2 sad at the end, cuz Bunny explodes (crying) (2.3 stars)

Something's A Ms... Well, the 4th best episode on here, but it got kinda boring when I watched it 2 much. Well, Ms. Bellum is giving the Mayor goofy kisses, & she takes the Mayors job, but no crimanals 4 Powapuffs 2 beat! Well, its really Seduca thats doing this. & Seduca has new hair gel! GEE! & Ms. Bellum gets freed! The Girls & Ms. Bellum cut her hair! (4 stars, well 4 now)

Power Lunch... Well, this is Powa Lunch when it was never before seen, It was the same thoh. Well, that Gangreene Gang get super powas by eating alot, & the Girls barley beat them. Last but not least! (Down, DOWN!)

The First Powapuff, but not Powapuff season, The Woop@$$ Girls! Well, this is the old stuff, & the Girls were 1st called the Whoop@$$ Girls. Whoa! the stupid A word? Well, the opening is cool, but the Girls dont look cuter. & the profeccer looks SOOO Much olda! & the Gangreene Gang look much more devious, ecpecially Ace. they were the only villans in the Woop@$$ Girls opening. well, look down.

the episode is A Sticky Situation... Well, this episode is only 3 minutes, & The Amoeba Boys r in this! & they really do crime at first! too bad this is the 2nd episode thoh. & this only takes 3 minutes! (3 stars)

1-0 out of 5 stars This DVD [stinks]!
I've seen this episode before. Buttercup and Bubbles mess up Blossums hair and she looks ugly. That wasn't really funny. All the other episodes here are just as stupid! Whoever created this show TRIED to make a Super-Hero adventure, but failed miserably. It's pathetic really. Avoid all PPG DVD's! They are not funny and are a waste of time. TRUST ME!

5-0 out of 5 stars Grrrrrl Power!
The Powerpuff Girls are so funny! The Mane Event will have you gasping for air. Bubbles and Buttercup are forced to slay a giant eye ball distroying Townsville alone. After their jealousy of how gorgeous Blossom's hair is in the morning causes them to give her the worst hair cut of her life. Now embarrassed to go out in public, will the girls beable to do it alone? This is a great dvd and I highly recommend it. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This DVD combines two previous VHS collections.

    Birthday Bash
Sugar, spice, everything nice, and a bit of Chemical X is what it tookto bring us Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup--also known as those crime- fighting kindergartners, the Powerpuff Girls. This video collection offive episodes from their hit Cartoon Network show provides adelightfully humorous introduction to the minuscule marvels. The titleepisode, "Birthday Bash," features the girls defeating the destructiveplans of three separate villains (Mojo Jojo, the Princess, and theAmoeba Boys) without ever leaving their own birthday celebration. "BeatYour Greens" introduces us to alien broccoli, and "Stuck Up, Up andAway" shows the origin of the girls' female nemesis, Princess. "SchoolHouse Rocked" and "Los Dos Mojo" complete the villain cycle byfeaturing the Gangrene Gang and Mojo Jojo--the ever failing andoverdressed monkey--in tales that show us the girls both at school andon the job. A bonus cartoon, "Sheep in the Big City," doesn't featurethe Powerpuff Girls but will be enjoyed by their fans for itscombination of blatant and intelligent humor, much like the style ofthe jokes found in all Powerpuff episodes. With a running timeof over an hour, this tape is sure to provide its viewers with a goodsupply of girl power. (Ages 5 and older.) --Zachary Lively

    Dream Scheme
The crime-fighting kindergarteners go after the Sandman, a jealousschoolmate, the usual monsters, and a superhero impostor in this five- episode compilation from the Cartoon Network favorite. The overworked,sleep-deprived Sandman is out of control in the title episode, puttingthe whole world to sleep so he can get some shut-eye of his own. Butthe gals thwart him by appearing in his dream and turning it into anightmare. "Just Another Manic Mojo" finds the hermit monkey trying todestroy the trio with a giant laser when they come to his castle toretrieve their wayward ball. Buttercup refuses to bathe in "Down 'n'Dirty," stinking up Pokey Oaks Kindergarten and grossing out even thevillains she battles. Classmate Princess hires Mojo to isolate ChemicalX and turn her into a Powerpuff Girl in "Mo Job." And muscle-boundMajor Man replaces the girls in the hearts and minds of Townsville whenhis exploits surpass theirs--but not for long, of course. The 70-minutevideo includes a bonus episode of "Courage the Cowardly Dog," whichinvolves an eggplant uprising against the dog's vegetable-loving owner,Muriel, in a story called "Journey to the Center of Nowhere." 4-0 out of 5 stars The Power Puff Girls: Birthday Bash DVD
Birthday Bash was a good DVD.It contained 2 of my favourite episodes:'Down 'n' Dirty and 'Paste makes waste.'
In'Down 'n' Dirty' Buttercup refuses to take a bath and once she got really dirty she made the town, her school and even her own house smell.Buttercup gets kicked out of town. After she flies away she fights with a monster she saw. After the fight the monster goes home and tells Buttercup that she stinks and makes her go home and have a bath so that she can fight monsters again.
'Paste makes waste is about a boy at 'Pokey Oaks Kindergarten' called Elmer Sglue who eats glue.He is teased by Mitch,Buttercup and the twins Floyd & Lloyd.Them and the rest of the class(except Blossom and Bubbles)call him "Paste eater".Later on Elmer gets very angry and turns into a paste monster and he goes to destroy the town. The only way for Elmer to stop destroying the town is by Buttercup saying she's sorry. She finally says it and Elmer and Buttercup are now friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love da Powerpuffs sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!
OK! Now, let's get started. Here's the episodes of what they're about.

Birthday Bash: This is the best episode on da video!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, Its the Girls birthdays, & Mojos present is soo funny! The robot says "I am I gift from Mojo Jojo! Enjoy your birthday, or it will be your last!" hahahaha! The rocket from Princess was cool too. And the funniest present of them all was the Ameoba Boys Powerpuff Voodoo Dolls. I cracked up. And Him gives candy. (5 stars) The second one was Beat Your Greens. Another hillarious episode. It's when these evil Brocli Aliens plant brocli spores on the farm & the kids don't like Brocli. O, it's soo funny when this young dad says 2 his baby boy: "Here comes the Brocli express! Woo Woo!" O, & the brocli Aliens sound like robots with their eyes open. But, with their eyes closed, they sound like evil babys. Geesh! And, its hillarious when the kids & Powerpuffs chomp them up. (5 stars) 3d is Paste Makes Waste. Well, this boy in class, Elmer eats paste & these bullys like Mitch, Buttercup, & these 2 weird twins laugh at him 4 being a paste eater. Buttercup throws paste all over the table by saying: "Eat this, paste eata!" And when Elmer eats toxic with a bug, he turns into a man monster. Elmer puts paste all over Townsville, & it's surprising that the Mayor dosen't say anything! Idiot! Blossom & Buttercup get absorbed, & Buttercup says "I'mmmmmmm SOA-AAAARRRRR-REEEEY!!!!!!!!!!!" And Elmer says she's cool now. (5 stars) 4th is School House Rocked. Well, the Gangreene Gang go 2 school, Mr. Wednesday wanted them 2. That man sounds soo boring. But, I T loves this episode. The Gangreene Gang always fool & trick people into letting them eat food & stuff. When Ace drops it & says sorry, he really does it on purpose! Jerk!!! O, the begenning wuz kool when Ace & Snakey was playin a Powerpuff game with Bubbles vs. Fuzzy Lumpkins. Why didn't he give the Powerpuffs mean presents in Birthday Bash? Well, Ms. Keane thinks the girls we're splatting paste in school, but its the Gangreene Gang's fault of course. O, it's so funny when Billy shows he has 1 eye. HA HA HA HA HA HA! Also, when Grubber pretents 2 be a human. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! & when Turo holds up this deadly stapler who pretends its a girl. HA! & the stupid evil gang tricks the kids into playin Dodgeball. They cheat by throwing balls at the kids. Nasty freaks!!! (5 stars) Last, but not least is Los Dos Mojos. It's when Mojo destroys Townsville lighley. when Bubbles is on the ground, she hears Mojos words & teleports & wakes up thinking she's the real Mojo Jojo! AAH! She destroys townsville with dark shadowey eyes! GEE! Its soo funny when she says "I am not Bubbles! Bubbles is not my name! If u adress me by Mojo Jojo, that would be correct! I am bad, I am evil, I am Mojo Jojo!!!" Mojo Bubbles laughs like a snake. hehehe. O, she also even says "Its time to keep your maker!" & Blossom & Buttacup say "U LEAVE THE PROFECCER OUT OF THIS!!!" & Mojo Jojo Bubbles also says "Alone shall I rule this world!" & also even "What's the matta Buttacup? Afraid 2 fight?" She also kicks Mojo out of his house! (5 stars) O, the Courage bonus episode Journey to the Center of Nowere is awsome too! Well, there's these little monstrous eggplants who thinks Muriel is their enemy. O, it's soo hillarious when Courage disguises as the Great Eggplant! He says, "Fellow Eggplants, Muriel is not our real enemy." Also, he even says: "Great Eggplant says, do this funky!" (5 stars) This is da best Powerpuff video in the collection yet!

1-0 out of 5 stars What is wrong with you people?!!
This has got to be the worst T.V show/cartoon in the history of entertainment! The powerpuffs are just these three lil' skanks that don't ver save the world but a potsmokin city called Townesville, and that's only the beginning. The mayor is a complete jerk and should NOT be in office to begin with! Why don't they just impeach that old midget? Secondly, what is with the decapitated miss Belum? She does not have a face obviously becuase they couldn't think up one to put on her! Third, the fight scenes are just cheesy cheesy cheesy! (I've seen MORE action in a "Popeye" cartoon!) OH YEAH! Shouldn't the government be holding the chemical X formula for observation besides some laboratory Professor? It just does'nt make any sense! Craig Mccracken has gone downhill since this was aired! He should have stuck to his masterpieces, "2 Stupid Dogs" and "Dexter's Lab" instead because those shows were at least funny, compared to this garbage! I mean, what happened here???? ... Read more

PowerPuff Girls: Mojo Jojo's Pet Project

    Editorial Review

Mojo Jojo's latest plan to take over Townsville is thoroughly fiendish. Using a chemical spray known as Mutato, he has transformed all the town's creatures--from icky bugs to cuddly kittens--into large and dangerous monsters. It's up to players to help the Powerpuff Girls defeat the mutant menace before it gets out of control.

In Powerpuff Girls: Mojo Jojo's Pet Project, girls get to play superhero by rescuing endangered animals. The core of this game is composed of arcade-style games: players rescue fish from Mutato pollution, save pet-store escapees as they fall from a tall building, and eventually fight Mojo Jojo himself. That's not the end of the fun, though. When a gigantic, laser-wielding squirrel breaks the villain out of prison, the young heroines must go head-to-head with one dangerous rodent.

As arcade games go, Mojo Jojo's Pet Project offers less variety than some players may like. Most of the activities are a simple matter of evading dangerous objects while rescuing the innocent animal victims of Mojo Jojo's perfidy. Later games bring combat into the mix, requiring the girls to punch out their antagonists, but the formula is the same. Bad things move toward your character, and it's up to you to get her out of the way. The lack of variation is the single fault to be found with this game, though. It runs smoothly, gets harder on schedule, and provides lots of humor and excitement for Powerpuff fans.

As a bonus, girls who are tired of the endless hunt-and-chase can find other sources of entertainment in this game. Mojo Jojo's Pet Project contains some minor, low-key activities such as a matching game and printer-based design projects, good choices for girls who like to move between fast-paced action and point-and-click mellowing out. Even so, the point of this game is to rescue Townsville, and girls who want to play should definitely be ready to unleash their special powers in the name of justice. --Alyx Dellamonica ... this was a very fun (but short) game and one of the better ppg games to date.the only gripes i have with it how it freezes at times and the animation was kinda.. eh.kids who are fans of the show will love it!and hey, maybe the adults will enjoy it too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it, but...
This game is awesome! For the tykes and adult PpG fans as well. Exellent graphics, and very fast gameplay. Unfortunately, on my system, the Direct X movies tend to "chug" a bit.

Other than that, I highly recomend it! A 5 Plus!!!

In this game you play as buttercup and beat up enemies. It's pretty challenging because the levels make you go all different directions; If you go down one passageway, you have to come back and go down another. This game takes forever because it has all these secret levels that are even more challenging. The great thing about this game is that you gan go anywhere you like. If you enjoy challenging games that test your patience and keep you guessing, you'll really like this game.

    Editorial Review

The slogan on the box says, "Powerpuff Girls are saving the world beforebedtime." Bad Mojo Jojo's repetitive gameplay, however, will put somegamers to sleep well before that time.

Based on the Cartoon Network series, this title spotlights Blossom, thepink-clad leader of the Powerpuff Girls. The dilemma facing the girls at the start ofthe game is that Mojo Jojo has kidnapped the girls' mentor, Professor Utonium.Blossom must battle Bratty Little Princess, Roach Coach, and eventually MojoJojo himself (hence the game's name) to save the brave professor.

The idea behind the game is to run or fly around the professor's home and lab, collecting all the goodies that the various robbers dropped in their hastyransacking of the place. The items consist of treasure, special graphic cards ofBlossom & Co., and health power-ups.

Some simple puzzle solving is required to finish this game, but that reallytakes second fiddle to honing one's exploration skills and reaction timing. Evenwithout reading the manual--and who does nowadays?--most will quickly figure outwhere they're going and what they've got to do.

If this series has a singular hook, it is that all three of the girls' games canbe linked though the GBC's vastly underutilized infrared port. Whatever iscollected in one cartridge can be sent over to another. In this way, players whowork together can more quickly gather all the cool collectibles in the game andget further ahead in less time. It's too bad the makers didn't spend a littlemore time putting a game together that was stylish to look at and engaging toplay. --Todd Mowatt

Buttercup and me are so alike that she must like eating fish eyeballs like me! Those taste like chalk but they are so good for you!! Hear that buttercup!!!...Oh wait! I forgot! This is the 1st awesomest game of the powerpuff girls and all three are really good!!! Buttercup should be the president of the whole world...

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Mojo Jojo, Indeed
I got this game for Christmas 2000 and was quickly disappointed. I don't demand great graphics from a GBC game, but this one's graphics aren't even marginally good. What's the point of playing a Powerpuff Girls game when the characters are barely even recognizable?

Gameplay stinks, too. The characters' attacks are monotonous, and the game consists entirely of exploring flat, side-scrolling locations and beating up bad guys. You're also supposed to pick up items along the way, but those are mostly pointless.

I'm a diehard Powerpuff fan, but I can't recommend this game. It's too bad -- the Powerpuff Girls are among the few GBC games that would have strong appeal to young girls, and the designers disrespect them with this crummy game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not all that fun
This Powerpuff Girls game is not like the episodes. All you do is go around collecting girly stuff and the same thing. And you get lost in the Bonsai Garden level. And the people and the villains are so easy to beat all it takes is ten hits out of all the villians and 2 hits out the same ones you fight in every level. When i first heard of this game I thought it was going to be fun.But no this game is not very fun.And all three of the games on Gameboy color are all the same and the same levels in each one just different orders.I think this game is not very fun ... This is a pack of two Powerpuff Girls titles for one price. Bad Mojo Jojo features clever Blossom, who evades and traps enemies while the other two girls are in reserve for superattacks. The side-scrolling game contains multiscreen maps with hidden areas. Our hero dodges obstacles, collects power-ups, destroys enemies, rescues friends, and ultimately fights the featured villains to save Townsville. The villainous Mojo Jojo, Bratty Little Princess, and Roach Coach all prioritize brains over brawn, which requires Blossom to utilize strategies other than a full frontal attack.

    3-0 out of 5 stars fun...for about a day...
...The game itself is basically a fighting game, although somewhat different from the norm..It's built around picking up items and throwing them at your opponent. There are also the standard kick/punch and a simple "kick kick punch" combo that can be employed, although they're really only useful for making your opponent drop whatever it is they're going to throw at you since the kick/punch attacks do very little damage themselves. You can also catch some of the things your opponent throws at you, although it's usually nearly impossible to do (as is dodging items since they pretty much lock onto you and nail you even if you try to jump out of the way). The gameplay is also spiced up with chemical-x bottles..There are normally 3 around at once..Hit your opponent with something to make them drop one of their bottles..If you get hit, you drop one...If you manage to collect all 3, you're given the chance to use a super power (which are wildly uneven, from Sedusa's barely damaging slime attack to the Powerpuff Girls' eye lasers that can suck away half of their opponent's life bar)...In the end, the gameplay boils down to a simple matter of "hit the other person with something before they can hit you"..

The graphics, presented in an overhead 3D adventure-type view of the battle arena, are fairly good. The intro movie is excellent.Powerpuff Girls fans will especially enjoy seeing the show's intro in 3D animation..Overall, things are nice and colorful and do a good job of creating an atmosphere similar to the show..The sound is also good, although some more soundbytes from the characters or the show would have been nice.

The controls are fairly simple, albeit somewhat sluggish. In fact, my first impression with the game was that it was quite slow. However, as you get into the game a little more, the pace seems to be just about right for the gameplay style...Still, it can be a bit tedious at times...

As for difficulty and longevity..There are several villains and arenas to unlock by playing through the story mode with each Powerpuff Girl. These can also be unlocked with passwords that can be found online.Normally, the ability to unlock secrets would add to the longevity of the game, but there aren't many villains to defeat, and the game can be finished fairly quickly...I beat this game and unlocked all of the secrets the first night I played it...That's not to say it's easy...it's actually fairly difficult even on "easy" mode, probably to the point that it would frustrate some of the younger fans of the show. However, with so few battles to win, it becomes a matter of persistance rather than skill...fighting each villain over and over until you defeat them. After you beat the game, there's not much point to doing it again. Then it comes down to the simulator mode, a one or two player single battle game that becomes very tedious after about a day.In other words, it's very likely to become one of those games that sits on a shelf indefinitely after playing it for a day or two...

Well, the bottom line is that it's fun for a while. It's definitely not an outstanding game.It IS somewhat violent..but those of you complaining about the violence might want to try watching an actual episode of the cartoon..If you're a big fan of the Powerpuff Girls, it's probably worth buying just to dust off every once in a while, watch the intro movie, and play a bit..For anyone else, I'd say it deserves a rental, but you'll find that even the rental period will probably outlast the enjoyment you'll get from the game... ... Ever since I saw the game on Amazon.com,based on my favourite cartoon action series of The Powerpuff Girls on Cartoon Network,I was impressed and anxious to get it.After I bought it,it was a bit difficult to play at first, but once you get to know the game, where the enemies are,and where the power-ups are,it began to become easy.It took me a long time to get to Level 5 and there was no saving mode on the game, but I did find a way to restart the level I lost,by moving it the right arrow in the right corner on top of the screen until it reaches the right level. You can't save it during the game, but you can come back to the game with which you started.Your video game is the best.Ignore those other reviews of how bored the other customers were, that's their problem, your game is the best and has exciting mind-blowing action. It deserves to be successful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerpuff Marathon!Bedtime, schmedtime!
Awwwwwwwwww, aren't they CUTE?Yep, those round, large as saucers, baby-kitten eyes, and the capital-U smiles did it for me, plus their feature length movie. This three-pack consists of the video compilations Bubblevicious, Boogie Frights, and Birthday Bash, so set aside three plus hours for a Powerpuff marathon, with brief descriptions from yours truly.

Birthday Bash:consists of five cartoons:Birthday Bash, Beat Your Greens, Paste Makes Waste, School House Rocked, and Los Dos Mojos, plus a Cowardly Dog cartoon. The trio face their archenemy Mojo Jojo twice. The Powerpuffs foil attempt after attempt by their jailed foes to sabotage their birthday party."Beat Your Greens" is my favorite, as it shows a creative way for kids to eat their vegetables. As it involves broccoli, maybe President Bush Sr. should be watching this."Los Dos Mojos"--What's more menacing than Mojo?Bubbles thinking she's Mojo after a nasty knock on the head."Paste Makes Waste" has a gag from Ghostbusters plus the importance of not picking on others. The Gangreen Gang is so odious, I could not wait for them to get their comeuppance in "School House Rocked," which has a playful swipe at Dragnet.Heck, at least Mojo's got somewhat of a fun personality.

Bubblevicious:consists of five cartoons, Cat Man Do, Uh-Oh...Dynamo, Mr. Mojo's Rising, Powerpuff Bluff, and Bubblevicious."Cat Man Do" is an interesting flip on Blofeld, the recurring villain in James Bond.A giant robotic Powerpuff helps the girls against a giant sea monster in "Dynamo."Bubblevicious is by far the best here, as the timid Bubbles proves she can be just as hardcore as her sisters."Mr. Mojo's Rising" goes back to the origin of the girls and Mojo, which was summarized in the beginning of this year's movie.Powerpuff Bluff is the weakest of the bunch, of a trio of burglars impersonating the girls.Uh-huh.Riiiiight.

Boogie Frights:consists of five cartoons:Boogie Frights, Slumbering With The Enemy, Ice Sore, Rowdyruff Boys, and Helter Shelter, as well as the Shonen Knife video from the Heroes And Villains CD and a Courage The Cowardly Dog bonus cartoon. If the Boogie Man has his way, it'll be night and disco music forever. The girls save the day, in a hilarious parody of Star Wars.A disguised Mojo infiltrates the PPG's slumber party in "Slumbering With The Enemy," with apparently no bad intentions.Key word:apparently."Ice Sore" introduces Blossom's ice powers, which gain the enmity of her sisters, but which saves the day during a heat wave.Snips, snails, puppy dog tails, plus toilet sewage = the Rowdyruff Boys, and this episode features their most challenging adversaries.Helter Shelter finds Bubbles caring a lot for animals, with funny results.I fully support what she does in the very end.

So, having had a crash course in CSER 255 (Cartoon Series) I rate the Powerpuff Girls highly. Some pop culture references may be lost on the younger tykes but may elicit chuckles from older viewers. And what's with the mayor's secretary, whose face we never see?Favorite Powerpuff:it's a toss-up between Blossom and Bubbles.Favorite villain:Mojo.Favorite stories:"Bubblevicious," "Beat Your Greens," and "Rowdyruff Boys."

These cartoons are better representatives of the series than the feature length movie.Ten or so minutes is the appropriate length for a Powerpuff cartoon.A half-hour special is probably the maximum. So, for a stimulating dose of sugar, spice, and everything nice, check out the Powerpuff Girls, whether or not it is your bedtime. ... I simply loved this game, except for one thing: The movers that featured Ms. Keane, the Professor, the Girls, et al, were way too small. About 3x this sise would have made the game perfect.

1-0 out of 5 stars Confusing, slow-moving and boring.
I get the impression that the makers couldn't decide between a role-playing game or a more traditional board game.Rather than be a simple, roll the dice, move your piece, do what the space you land on says, there can be any number of actions taken.

While the characters are competing, they sometimes work together and at times you can move other players pieces to their disadvantage. You get to pick five cards but only play two per round, sometimes you roll one die -- sometimes all three, sometimes a round is over immediately if all three PP Girls get knocked out -- sometimes it drags on indefinitely. My four year old didn't get it, my 12 year old thought it was boring and we all gave up halfway through.Never again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun even for smaller kids
After reading other reviews, I purchased this game for my 3 and 5 year olds -
I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had!
The younger one played with Daddy as adults must read and explain the game as it goes along - but the way the game is set up in "rounds" makes it easy and fun.
The times printed on the cards make it educational too, in teaching which time is earlier etc.
Don't overlook this game just because it says for 8 and above!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, unique family game
My daughters got this one for Christmas and I was expecting a "roll the dice and move to the end of the board" kind of game. Boy was I surprised! My family have all enjoyed this one. This includes gamers like myself that need something interesting to keep my going and gamers like my wife who want something with easy rules. This game gives us a good balance -- not hard to learn but unique rules that make it different.

Naturally, my girls (6 and 8) love it. They will often play together and don't need our help (except to breakup the occasional fight that sisters will have). My 14 year old son will even play it with us from time to time!

There are several educational aspects that come to mind. First, rolling dice and counting are important basic skills. Players take turns based on time shown on cards, so learning to figure out earlier / later on digital clocks is learned. Simple reading is part of the game, although non-readers can play. Less obvious is the fact that there is real strategy to the game and the opportunity to figure out how to effectively use the girls as a team.

It is now 10 months later and this is still popular with the girls and for family games. That alone makes it worth the 5 star rating for me. ... Read more
