1-0 out of 5 stars buyer beware
The copy of SimCity4 that I purchased came without the access codes to support instillation. When I called Electronic arts all I got was an automated phone system... press 2 now... EA's manufacturing quality control is so poor that they had a selection for products without access codes! I could never find a way to talk with a human beibng about the problem. The automated voice suggested solution was to send the product to them at my expsnse to prove that it came without the access code! I have returned the game to Amazon for a refund. I would never buy another EA product.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST GAMES
OK, let's put it straight. This game is very organized. It contains lots of options for transportaion and civic structures. The graphics are pretty darn good and the sound is mildly decent. But then there are the downs. It may get a bit sluggish when the city is VERY BIG!!! So, this game is still very good.
4-0 out of 5 stars This game was good!
For those that have have played similar games like Sim City before, this one was great! I have played Sim City 2000, but that was years ago. I had found that game addicting. Now, years later, when I ordered Sim City 4: Deluxe Edition, I was blown away! This game is much better than 2000 could hope to be. They have resolved many of the issues that I had with the older game and then some. I have found this game to be addicting to, and have started different cities at the same time. I am working on getting the "perfect city" for me to be happy with. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of any of the Sim games. I could even say at times it was funny even to read the tongue-in-cheek sayings that come up just as you are starting up the game for the day like "Bureaucratizing Bureaucracies". It was not so much hilarious but, it can help you get in the "fun mode" to play the game. The advisors can get slightly annoying after awhile, especially when you have a different idea about what you want to see in your city than they do, but it is still overall a very entertaining game. My next purchase will most likely be Sims 2, for more of the Sims experience. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-balanced, works on a modest computer
This is a good, well-balanced game. Start building your city little by little. Build a power plant, small-density residential, commercial and industrial zone, water pipes, that's it. Use the cheapest streets. Every other square in a residential and commercial are should have a bus stop. Of course, bus stops cost money, but it will save you from traffic congestions, and you won't need to invest in expensive roads and motorways. Click on the bus stops and watch the number of passengers, if it's low, demolish it.
1-0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work quite right on modern hardware/XP
This game was extremely frustrating. On either of my PCs (both fairly modern and running XP), graphic elements in the game just randomly wouldn't get drawn. It's possible the game got patched at some point (and it's possible some versions of the game sold in stores already ARE patched and would work), but EA hasn't bothered to archive their patches for older games. In any event, I found it was very difficult to play in its current condition on modern hardware.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but Beware
Don't--I repeat, DO NOT--buy this game if you have a Gateway computer, for when you play it on there it not only blocks out all the words, but when you turn it off you have to reinstall it.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent city and region simulator
This is my first Sim game, and I love it.There are three modes to play in:in God Mode, you terraform the region, adding cliffs or valleys, flattening shores, planting forests, etc; in Mayor mode, you will zone areas, add utilities and services, and receive input from dozens of informative graphs, data and advisors; in MySim mode you can create individuals and then name them, give them a place to live and a car to drive, etc.
3-0 out of 5 stars Review for the Military Members Apple User Group
When so many games these days focus on death and destruction, it's nice to have a constructive alternative that is still truly addictive. Filling that niche, as ever, is the prominent Maxis series SimCity.
3-0 out of 5 stars Way Overpriced For What You Get, Unless You Are Paying For Frustration
Computing power makes little difference with this game; performance is poor! Some processes in the game are very slow, such as trying to select subway stations, subway tubes, and water mains. There is also an issue with city boundaries becoming misaligned with neighboring cities, of their own accord, it seems. If you choose to correct this, be prepared to loose any development(s) along those boundaries.

4-0 out of 5 stars My Bank Account Is NOT Unlimited.
Obviously SimCity 3000 is a superb game.Nothing really comes close to it (except SimCity 4, which beats it).The original SimCity 3000 is good enough to stand on its own.
5-0 out of 5 stars great for everyone who likes it
I like just about everything about this game.It also has cheat codes without needing a device (computer duh). The only thing I find hard is it's hard to get over a million people, but is possible unlike earlier SimCity games.Comes with 5 great backgrounds and options on flora. It also has cool scenerios, plus you can design them too.You also get to create your own buildings in case you want to replace the ones created (although they're beautiful).Always something to do in SimCity. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best 'SIM' game ever
This is the best game they have made. once you get pass to graphics (which were good for the time) and get into the game you can lose hours building. add in the urban renewal kit & it all add up to a perfect formula. it's a shame i lost my copy cos when my computer crashed i lost everything. i'd give my right arm to get it all back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories...
Among my many childhood memories, one of my most cherished ones was going to my aunts house to play on her computer (the only one I have seen at the time besides my other aunts and uncles) Sim City 2000.I loved the game and we'd spend hours playing it.7-8 years later and 20 years old, I still appreciate the game and remember those days at my aunts house.Soon we got a computer and I got Sim City 2000 and it wore of it's affect because I finally got a computer and the game and I don't remember much palying the game after I got it.But like I said, I remember playing it my aunts house and I cherished those now as an adult as I play this game that introduced me to computers and video games.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Successful Way
They say not to install this game on a Gateway computer, because it will uninstall after you quit. But I have a Gateway computer and have experienced the same problems. However I have a way of playing the game without having to re-install it by first inserting the disk and waiting for the main page to pop up. Click quit and then click on start and access the all-programs, and look for a Maxis file. Once you find it click and the Sim City 3000 file should be there. You should then be able to play the game without having to install it again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this game if your computer is a Gateway

5-0 out of 5 stars Sim City 4 is awsome!
It took me a long time to figure out how to make a city but after about a month I was making cities with hundreds of thousands of people. Its fun watching your city develope!

4-0 out of 5 stars good, not exceptional
I bought this game in a special offer with two other games that I did want, I had never heard of this game before so had no idea what it would be like. I was very pleasently surprised.
1-0 out of 5 stars build and watch - that's it
There is no strategy to SimCity 4 - I thought that SimCity 3000 had been a botched attempt by the designers, but in truth it appears the direction that they are heading with the SimCity series is simply the "Build and Watch" approach. The graphics are pretty good, although it seems to me that if they are really going to stick with this "build and watch" approach to gaming that they should expand the number of buildings - even a tiny city can easily have ten of the same "Bob's Grease Pit" ... I mean come on fellas... choose your weapon, but do it well!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal! And Morons will be Morons
This is an awesome set. Some people are just retardes and don't get the point of updating 2 Windows XP. This set is vicious, And if u have windows XP trust me, THEY ALL WORK. I must admit that i had and still have problems running SIM Theme Park, but don't worry, SIM COASTER is a better version of sim Theme Park and it works fine. AND those who r so stupid, THE serial code for SIM Golf and SIM City 3000 is on the back of the INSTALATION GUIDE! It costs about 5.99-15.99 an induvidual game so 6 games for $17 bucks! Amazing Deal. Great buy. And complaining jerks are just stupid. Go For it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Stop crying you babies
Keep your OS updated jerks. It's six games for 20$. If you want something better buy something else. Works fine for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars How to waste 2 hours of your Life
I have never bought such a piece of [...]product before, and I've been buying software for 25 years now.None of the games worked on my family's PC's (Windows XP, and compatability adjusted 2000 fix didn't work).

2-0 out of 5 stars They will gladly take your money...again.
Since the makers of the original SimCity 4 never actually fully patched that version, they tell you to buy Rush Hour to solve the issues existing with that main version. Throwing in a few additions that could have been made available for download, you must buy this expansion in order for the game to even work with ANY future elements they may provide. Newer building tools or the rare new structure will simply not work with the stand alone version. 5-0 out of 5 stars god like powers
This is the best game since GTA. The best thing to do is name streets and roads and neighborhoods and districts. I wish you could make a ethnic neighborhood then it would be really fun. You can make suburbs like the big city can be very blue collar and crime ridden and bad schools and one suburb can be white collar with mansions and excellent schools depending on what neighborhood you pay most attention to, just one of the best games ever made.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy... if your conscious is flexible..
This expansion is a must purchase. It's more than the features they describe, they've refined and improved just about everything is seems from the regular Sim City 4.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for those who know the Game
I recenty picked this game up for $10 at Costco. I have always loved the sim city games. So i figured how bad could it be. And if you know what you are doing and like Sim City for the computer its pretty similar. I've actually filled the map and just had to stand around and watch my money grow. Its all in your tactics. For what I paid for this game I am very happy, and find myself playing the game often.

...Now on to Streets of SimCity. This game stinks. The graphics are bad, and though you might think driving through your own SimCity 2000 cities is cool, it's not.The main premise of this game seems to be shoot-em-up driving, though there is a mode where you can just drive.Compared to games like Midtown Madness, it is one of those games that Maxis slopped together and hoped would sell.Rating: 1 star.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars SUCCERS!
The only good game in this is Sim Safari! The other games didn't work on my DELL Laptop, or I couldn't get the whole point. And even Sim Safari can sometimes get too challenging, for it's so hard to eliminate locusts, fires, and drought. Even playing this game at its least challenging is quite difficult. Unlike in Zoo Tycoon, everybody wants to see buffalo, elephants, leopards, lions, and rhinos. In the scenarios, you start with too little money, so as soon as you spend over half your budget on an amphitheatre your in trouble! No, just get the civ, galactic civ, alpha centauri, and tycoon series.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good Pack, but SimIsle sux
Okay, first warning: like other people said, these games were made from 1989-1997, so some of them are REALLY old. If you want moderately modern games for the price, I reccomend the SimMania 2 pack. Anyway, my uncle bought this as a gift for me 3 yrs. ago. I'll rate the games individually:

2-0 out of 5 stars Sim DISASTER
This game was a real surprise to me...NOT.This game really stunk in my point of view. The graphics are blocky, and tornados rip through almost eery 2.5 seconds.Think about it this way, you build a magnificent, huge, great, titanic, supreme metropolis, only to have 6600 natural disasters to rip through in a week leaving your town in shambles. This game is a real disgrace to the PC.The modes are similar to each other so that, you can say the whole game copied itself 10 times over!the only interesting part of this nasty object is that the objects that you can create outrageous buildings and spaceships. All, in All, this game should be buried for life!

1-0 out of 5 stars Never buy anything from Aspyr!
If you ever get this game running, you will see the numerous bugs (like the glowing buildings), the horrible speed on machines that well exceed the "system requirements", and countless options taken out from the PC version. The biggest bug though is that it will crash on many machines. Aspyr has a patch to download on their website for this, but it requires the serial number from the CD case, which is a problem because they shipped thousands of copies with invalid serial numbers. They have no tech support to speak of, which is fitting I guess for their horrible products.
1-0 out of 5 stars Aspyr has to go
While SC4 isn't without it's flaws, Aspyr has taken pains to code windows-like interfaces for file access and skipped on making them work with the Mac file system. The game blocks many system features making it impossible to Command-Tab out to check e-mail, fast forward iTunes or whatever else you want. My attempts to contact customer support were responded to tersely and with no concern for my patronage.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
Sim City 2000 is a great game for anyone who wants a challenge and of course a ton of FUN!! In this game you are the mayor and you control the fate of your city. You build the roads, power plant(s), and other special buildings, do the zoning, and let the Sims do the rest. However disasters do happen. So be on the alert! Tornadoes, earthquakes and much more can decimate your city! HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL HINTS AND SECRETS FOR YOU:4-0 out of 5 stars Decent Game
This is a pretty decent game. It is very hard to play at first, but after a few days, you will get the hang of it. You can personalize your city using the Urban Renewal Kit. You can even paint your buidings, and/or you can place cool buildings in your city whenever you want. The only problem that I have with the game is the lack of funding for your city. You have to issue many bonds, which are very hard to pay off. Nevertheless, this game is fun, and I recommend it to everyone. With patience, you'll be building a lot of cities! Remember: Build a power plant first. You can't have a city without electricity, right? Start your city near a lake or river and build a lot of water pumps. Build them on the shores of your body of water. Connect the pumps with power lines from your power plant. Now build some zones. Connect them with roads, power, and water pipes from your water pumps. Now build a hospital, a school,a college, a police station, a fire department, and a jail. You might also want to build stadiums and/or parks. Remember the pipes, roads, and power lines. Fund everything at least 80% and listen to what people have to say about your city so you don't have problems. Good Luck!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game but not alot of control!
Sim city 2000 is a great game. It shows you the basics of building a city. You have to keep your spending in control wich is very hard to do. I think it's a great game for kids 6 to 10. But an adult would enjoy this game too. Sim city 3000 is better if you looking to buy it for a teenager or adult. in Sim city 2000 it's seems that ounce you get into one bond you never come out of the hole. I realy recomend sim city 3000 more. ... Read more

this didn't install properly, after i got it installed 2 of the games didn't work!!!! sim golf and sim theme park.. totally waste of money and time i feel sorry for my mom who bought this! i wonder what sim mania 3 will include?? if you thought it would be cool to ride your rollercoasters and make them on sim coaster you were wrong. there is not enough power over your coasters and the challenges are hard to beat on sim coaster.
2-0 out of 5 stars Way To Skip The Best One, EA Games
I give this 2 stars for benefit of the doubt because I have not played Sim Coaster.

4-0 out of 5 stars Last Generation of SNES titles push the envelope...
This is a great game - Sim City, everyone who is looking at this little review knows what the game is, and sim city 2000 was what really brought the series to light.
5-0 out of 5 stars 100,000,000 Stars!
This is a great game. You start by making Power Plants(coal or Nuclear) and Power lines, Residentail,Commercail, and Industrial zones,Parks, and Roads. Then as you're city grows you need to build Stadiums(To keep you're citizens from getting bored),Police and Fire Fighters(to handle emergencies),and ports( Seaport:for shipping you're Industry's products Airport:for transporting commercail Business people). You may also need Mass transit(RailRoad) lines to keep traffic from getting too heavy or you can just make Rail Lines by themselves(that can be quite expensive, though).Later in the game you get several rewards including a zoo,a mayor's house, and may, many more! Also When you're city reaches a certain size you're citizens will make Privately owned Hospitals and schools in residentail areas.Plus you have a Advisor that notifies you about Disasters, rewards, when you're doing a good job,and when you're city has 2000(town),10000(city),50000(capitol),100000(Metropolis),or 500000(Megalopolis) people.Plus there a total of 8 scenarios in the game(two of them are bonus ones that you can only get when you've completed the first 6 Scenarios and had one of you're cities reach Metropolis status though). It may not be as new or cool as Sim City 3000 Unlimited but it's a great one for begginers. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Classics from Maxis - give 'em a chance!
Nobody laughed at me when I became obsessed with SimCity in college (wow, that was almost 10 years ago!).They did sneer when I bought SimFarm... and laughed when I became obsessed with it, too. While it does seem a little odd to sit down at a computer and play a simulated *farming* game, it really is enjoyable, and I play it even now!4-0 out of 5 stars Fast delivery
Item was received within a couple of days and was in good working order.
