5-0 out of 5 stars The best RPG of the pre Game boy advance era
This was the greatest RPG ever made for the gameboy (yes even better than any lame Gameboy color RPG except Dragon warrior 3 was good but not better). It was good for it's time. Sometimes some of the lines the characters say can be cheesy but it was a classic. If you are big on old school hndhelds please get this game. you'll be happy you did.

4-0 out of 5 stars With each new Legends game, it just gets better and better.
I remember really enjoying this game. The graphics are remarkably more in detail then the previous Legend games. Role-playing games have something in common which is you need a pen and paper to write down stuff people say to you.I don't remember writing a lot but you see a cave you cannot get to yet, then you would want to write down the grid; the number of squares across and down. Therefore, if you do that then you will not have to worry about it so much. I remember walking around sometimes going "where do I go" but here again if you look back at what people have said to you then you will be pointed in the right direction. I liked the game, for me the frustration level was rare.If you like older games then this will be a fun one for you

3-0 out of 5 stars 3-and-a-half-stars; nostalgia
Final Fantasy Legend III (part of the Saga series in Japan, billed as Final Fantasy in the U.S. to boost sales) is actually a decent game, despite dated Mode-7 graphics and cheesy pre-GBA sounds. It's a standard 4-person-party RPG that requires some tedious leveling, equipment upgrades, and several quests across a variety of settings. The storyline had a lot of potential, and while incomplete at parts, should leave you satisfied at the end.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars You do not need fancy graphics to enjoy a good game.
I remember this game being pretty simple graphics wise if a bit less than Final Fantasy Adventure was, but still you didn't have to pretend the blue was water and the green was land; like Nobunaga's Ambition. You have to remember the age of this game so you can forgive the graphics. I played the Final Fantasy Legend games one after the other in 2001 and enjoyed the experience. For nostalgia it was great but if you haven't played or do not like older games you would not like this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay.... I guess....
I bought this game because I thought it was FF.But its not!It actually SaGa or SagGe or something.2-0 out of 5 stars Despite nostalgia, still a poor game
There is no doubt that Final Fantasy Legend (SaGa in Japan, billed as Final Fantasy in the United States to boost sales) was a highly advanced game for its time (1989).However, it offers nothing that its sequel doesn't offer, and the game is, shall we say, very poor. Not having the advantage of color that its contemporaries (Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy) had, the graphics are so poor that they were actually bad in 1989, which says a lot.The story is about as simplistic as they come, and you should be able to beat this game in a few hours no problem.Considering its limited availability now, I doubt anyone will really want to play this game - trust me, you aren't missing anything. My fellow "old school" RPG players will call me a heretic, but this game has nothing memorable to offer.Skip it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars FFA
I remember a few years ago playing this game. This was my introduction to the Secret of Mana series even though I believed this to be part of the Final Fantasy series. Maybe they called it this because they didn't know that they were going to make more games with the Mana tree, so no sense in saying FFAII and FFAIII. But the story line is definatly great. You start out as [your name for charecter here] in a forteress where the Dark Lord uses people to play in gladiator like fights. This seems like some of the Final Fantasy games where you start off with normal life for the charecter and then you delve into a rich story line. When you escape the castle, you meet up with a man who was freshly slain by monsters and a girl crying at his side. After talking to her, she tells you that she is looking for an old man. I forget his name since the time it's been, and from there, the story line becomes increasingly better. It was way ahead of it's time where it has plot twists and can bring out emotion in you. I was sad after fighting Medusa (won't say what happened) and at the tree of mana (my lips are still sealed) I don't have this game anymore so I am planning on buying it to beat it again -it's that great! There is also a remake of this game called Sword of Mana for the GBA but has minor changes that are enough for me to shun it because it will ruin my thoughts on one of the most gripping original Game Boy games ever. Buy it now!

4-0 out of 5 stars Simple graphics and yet lots of fun.
I have really enjoyed playing a series beginnings and this game is no exception. I first thought years ago that this was a Final Fantasy game but instead it is a Mana game like Secret of Mana. I remember playing this game and really liking it. It has a story and the graphics are not so sparse that you do not have to pretend the blue is water and the green is land, but rather when you go onto land, there is texture like trees drawn and a cave opening. If you need color graphics then this and other games of this age will not be your cup of tea. I on the other hand had a great time playing it.

4-0 out of 5 stars a lot of fun, the first entry in the Mana series
The first thing to mention is that Final Fantasy Adventure is really part of the Mana series (Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana). This is, I believe, the first game in the series with the sequel being the excellent Secret of Mana for the SNES.I suspect that the reason for the name change is simply that Square thought that the Final Fantasy name would sell more copies when released in America. This is an adventure RPG.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Same great play and the graphics are just a tad better.
I liked playing this game as much as the previous legend game. I remember that with each game I was pleasantly surprised that the graphic was getting subtlety better. I really like role-playing games so graphics is not everything to me as long as I do not have to make something up myself to continue the play. Hum, was that water I crossed? No, I do not want to do that; and you don't in this game. Seeing the beginnings of a series you really like can be a cherished experience and in turn a wonderful memory. Therefore, if you do not mind simple graphics, and like role-playing games you will like this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unless your an extreme fan of FF
I got this game a long time ago after I bought number 3. Not to knock anyone who likes it but this is by far the 2nd worst game I have ever played. The game so insanely hard that it wasn't fun anymore. I used game shark for max stats and unlimited of the best weapons, and I still found myself dying over and over. But the story is pretty good. You have to travel through a bunch of different worlds looking for the main characters dad. You get to collect different magi, magic stones. That help you get around to different worlds. In every world their is a beanstalk thing that goes up and they all me in this big area going to the next. Progressing through the game is only hard b/c the enemies are hard, but going in the right direction is great b/c people in towns will always tell you. But unless you are a fan, don't buy this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Problematic yet strangely attractive, nostalgic
The storyline to Final Fantasy Legend II (Second installment of the SaGa series in Japan, billed as Final Fantasy in the U.S. to boost sales) is interesting, but the characters in the game are impersonal and the game's bland, linear nature will leave modern games yearning for the depth, control, and immersion that today's RPGs give. Also, the game is incredibly easy until the very end, when it becomes frustratingly difficult. You'll have the ability to customize your part in the beginning, my suggestion is 2 mutants and 2 humans, but after that your wiggle room for customization is very small.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars this game stinks
this game has bad graphics. a cave man is probably more younger than this game. don't get it

4-0 out of 5 stars They should remake this next
After playing Metroid, Super MEtroid, MEtroid PRime, Fusion, and Zero I realized that the only one I had not played/beaten yet was the Gameboy version of Metroid, MEtroid 2.SO I went on one of my legendary hunts for this and low and behold I found it. A few hours Later I had beaten it and left me with some interesting thoughts.5-0 out of 5 stars Good game to add to your collection
Now this is a fun game. I tell you what. This is a fun game. I got mine off ebay (sorry amazon but the prices...) anywho the game is really cool. i think theres like 39 metroids you have to kill but the deal is yoru go though the disturbed planet fothe metroid sr388 and have to kill them all. and after you kill a certain amount theres this rumble and the lava in a big shaft room goes down to the next floor and this goes on for like 4 times. When you then get close to the "lordess" metroid -so fine- you have to fight i think 9 new metroids! which is a add on the prevoious 39 so technically theres 48 (49 if you include the queen) anyways then you anilate the lordess and for some reason on my game theres this weird red line on the wall but whatever it goes donw after teh battle and for some ohter reason theres a little excape hole under the lordess. so i guess you can wimp out and excape kinda ruins the point of a boss if you can jsut "escape"?! but oh well after you defeat IT. then a baby metroid hatches (jimminy crickets where do all these things come from!!!! fun never ends with metroid 2 ;) but then you escape the terrifing planet and go to your ship. THE END review DARN GOOD GAME ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy game but extremely fun
This game takes the best elements of Mega Man 2 and 3 on the NES, and puts them together for a gameplay experience you won't soon forget. You've got Rush the robotic dog, energy tanks, and other innovations. Once you defeat the robot leaders, you'll battle a mysterious foe, and then enter Wily's space fortress(see the melting clocks in the background? Either Wily has found a way to distort time or he's in to Salvador Dali's artwork.) Give this game a whirl if you have a Game Boy. It shouldn't disappoint. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This would be a wonderful game to play no matter how old it is.
I love all the Zelda games so I am partial to giving perfect scores to this series. This was the first Zelda game I had ever played and I was caught from the first time I turned it on and went down to the shore to get my sword and start my adventure into the world of Zelda. The world is large with lots of fun areas to explore and a fun side quest that has you walking all over the world, but wanting what was at the end. I made lots of notes and ended up making a guide for it. This is a timeless game that will endear you as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars zelda reiveiw
I think this game is cool beacuase there is two storys. Also beacause there is alot of challenging levels.Sometimes there could be easy bosses but hard puzzles. In conclusion this game is very fun to play.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST GAMEBOY GAME

5-0 out of 5 stars Castlevania
In order to like this game you have to have the love of Castlevania like me.I love Castlevania and even though this game is very slow and you can't do that much, it is Castlevania and I love it.There are only 4 stages and they are pretty straight forward, and Dracula is a big pain.If you grew up with Castlevania, like me, you will appriecate this game and all of Castlevania games because all the stories go together. But if youare just getting into Castlevania stick with the new ones on Playstation.

1-0 out of 5 stars I can't believe I'm even giving it one star!
In 1989, Konami decided it might be a good idea to try putting their classic vampire hunting series, Castlevania, onto a portable console. And that same year The Castlevania Adventure was released for the classic Game Boy. Would this be a smart move, or one of the blunders of the series? Read on for my review.4-0 out of 5 stars Great classic game!
I don't understand the negative reviews of this game; yes, it requires precise jumping and your whip gets downgraded if you get hit but whip upgrades are commonplace enough that you should be able to maintain your upgraded whip throughout the game, as long as you're not getting hit every 5 seconds. To rate a game poorly because it's a little difficult doesn't make sense to me.Overall it's a great game; fun and challenging. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars It's an okay game
the game starts out with this character called igor and he has this mission to find certain items (specifically, parts of a monster that he created) and put them together so the monster is back together again.there are obstacles and puzzles. Its pretty fun and in a way it's kind of like mario but you get passwords, you can't say the game. 5-0 out of 5 stars The best gameboy game EVER!!
I am 20 years old. I owned one of the original chunky black and white gameboys. So I have played a lot of games over the years, and Im telling you: This one is my very favourite.5-0 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy Adventure
Out of all the FF I have played, this one is the best. The fighting battle is different from the rest yet it keeps you on the edge of your seat to make it very exciting.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Legend of Zelda meets The Secret of Mana
...and they get along very nicely. As old as this game is, it's still one of the best that the Game Boy has to offer. As the title suggests, anyone who has played a Zelda game before will be instantly familiar with the controls and type of gameplay.Veterans of Secret of Mana will easily recognize many of the enemies, the weapons and their uses (such as using the whip to catch poles and jump across gaps), and even a few of the spells look familiar (compare the Fire spell in this game to those in Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3).Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS GAME!!!
I would rate this game as one of the best games ever for the Game Boy. Only slightly different from the NES version the game still manages to fill the fun factor to the top. For those who arent familiar with Kid Icarus, it is a side scrollin action adventure game where you take control of your character PIT as an angel of some kindto rid the world of an evil curse. Along your journey you must build your arsenal of weapons, tools, and other items by defeating enemies and collecting hearts to purchase these items to help you with your quest. The game is truely one of a kind and awesome for its time. The game also has the capability to draw you into the adventure and make you determined to progressfurther into the game. I give my highest recommendation to this masterpiece

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love This Game!
I have lots of gameboy games but this is one of my favorites. It is a platform game (which I am particually into) and not as advanced as many of the new games. Basically you are Kid Icarus and you go through various levels. You can buy things, fight monsters and look for secrets. Its a light hearted game and very fun to play! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best Castlevania game for the original Game Boy
In the late eighties/early nineties, Konami tried to bring its popular NES series Castlevania to the Game Boy in the form of a game called Castlevania Adventure. Unfortunately, they created a monster. The character was slow, getting hit weakened your whip, platform jumping was brutal, there were no secondary weapons, and the control was blocky. It was one of the biggest blunders in the series. Not long after, Konami tried to redeem themselves with a second Game Boy Castlevania. How did they do this time? Read on for my review of Castlevania II - Belmont's Revenge.5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the original GameBoy titles.
First off: This is NOT the Nintendo Entertainment System title. Don't be fooled by other reviews--there are no RPG elements to this game whatsoever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite possibly the best TMNT game I've ever played!
TMNT: The Radical Rescue is not just a game of run to the right, kill the monster, grab the pizza or weapon and proceed to the boss. In fact, it's very much like Metroid in that it's very complex. That is to say don't expect to just walk in and then walk on out again, 'cuz you ain't gonna be able to! These labyrinthine passages and caverns can be confusing as hell, and there are traps waiting for you around every corner. One plot twist this game has that the others in the series never did is that when you first start the game you have only one turtle, Michaelangelo. Hence the name Radical Rescue. You must rescue not only April O'Neil, but your green pals as well. Each of them has a special move, and no, it ain't just a lame ripoff of the same move. Mike, for instance, can spin his Nunchuks like the roters on a helicopter, and yes he can float by doing this. It's useful in some boss fights. Leo has a drilling move that'll allow you to access more areas once you rescue him. Raphael can retreat into his shell and reach other areas by crawling. Donatello...well...let's just say he's got a lot in common with a certain Castlevanian pirate. He can climb walls, which not only helps in reaching hard to reach places, but also can be handy in boss fights when you're low on health or just want to conserve it while kicking serious ass. Another thing I like is the completely new caste of boss characters. Have you any idea how wonderful it is not to be facing the same old caste of Beabop, Rocksteady, Backster and Krang? Shredder of course still puts in an appearance, but he has like two forms (no I haven't fought him). To name a few bosses you'll face, Scratch, Dirtbag, Triceraton and Scale Tail.Oh yeah, and another thing this game has that none of the others do is a password system. You will recieve 7-character passwords throughout your journey, which will start you at whatever area you happen to be in. Also, if you set the final character of any password to 2 it will insure that you have two continues. If you're having trouble against a boss and don't wanna treck all the way from the beginning, there are passwords that will start you right next to all but the last boss (the final password starts you at what I will refer to as the Gauntlet where you fight each boss over again), so you can be sure you're fully charged.Read more
