Collector's items
The Tomb Raider franchise has had its ups and downs, so the three forays onto the miniscule Game Boy proscenium are understandably received with eyebrow raised.The first Tomb Raider for Game Boy Color (simply called Tomb Raider) was an immense surprise, since I did not expect to see Lara Croft rendered in such convincing animation.Reviewers seem to give that game high marks, and I have to agree - the game is playable, and actually fun.Then this one, Curse of the Sword, comes along.The animations are nearly as well done as the original, but seem slightly stodgy, as though some of the subtlety has been dropped out in favor of clarity.GBC TR1 sometimes hides items behind the scenery, making them hard to see; GBC TR2 actually blinks the medipaks and other items with a white flash, making cognitive skills hardwon in the first game unnecessary in the second.But what is done well, is done well.By contrast, the Game Boy Advance offering in the series, Prophecy, has bad graphics - Lara Croft is a cartoon who runs like a dork, with unvarying 90 degree leg bends like a swastika.The GBA character is not Lara, but an idea of Lara utterly lacking charm or nuance.The GBC characters, by contrast, transcend their tiny frames with brilliantly conceived animations that actually suggest a human being, or at the very least, the Playstation or Macintosh Lara viewed small.These are all collector's items.

Excellent game
I found this game to be almost as enjoyable as the first Tomb Raider game for Gameboy Colour. The action was plentiful, and there were some interesting puzzles to work through in the process of getting through the game. Tomb Raider

There should be another version of this game which features a mode similar to story mode in which you assume the role of villians, not good guys. It should also have movie modes where you can be good and/or bad which allows you to play through sagas from movies such as "Tree of Might".

The game is great(for those who know how to play). Beam attacks work best on an opponent when in the air, so if you dont want to get killled by one, do avoiding or get on the ground. Not as bad as one would think
Before Spider-Man became a box office smash and became everyone's favorite hero, Activision changed the way super hero licensed video games would be by releasing the surprisingly great Spider-Man games for the PS1, N64, and Dreamcast.Eventually a GameBoy Color version would be released, and while it's nowhere near anything great, it is surprisingly solid and challenging.The graphics are typical 8-bit side scroller fare, but are colorful and well animated.Controls are simple and the enemies (especially Venom) are very challenging.This game is also surprising in the fact that it is more solidly realized than any other 8-bit or 16-bit home console game that was nothing more than a repetitive beat 'em up with a comic license attached to it.All in all, those who only have a GameBoy Color and are fans of the web head should give this a whirl.

The best Gameboy colour game.
It is too hard but it is still miles ahead of anything else on the Gameboy colour. I am not that good at hanhelds but I manged to get pretty far in the game and I have beaten Venom, The Lizard, Hobgoblin and Venom again. I am now fighting Venom a 3rd time and have found I can't beat him. The birdds are also pesky too. But it helps that the better you play the more points you get which gives special moves which makes fighting a hell of a lot easier. I have had a lot of fun with this game and as soon as I learn how to beat Venom again I will no doubt have more fun with it. ... Read more

People say this game is bad, but its the best mk game on the gameboy. while it only has 2 levels and 1 fatality per character the gameplay is great. The people move fast and the controls are responsive, which is alot more than i can say for most fighters on the gameboy. while it lacks blood color and may not be as nice as the gamegear version its still not bad.

What's up with that?
I heard this game is crap. I have it for NES and its cool. But this is weird. Why would they make a stupid 'easy' game for GBA? Why won't they let you play as the cool people like Baraka? You stubborn retards can make a better choice of system and game then this!!!!!!!

Good, but not much in it.
This is a very good game that is very limited. As far as I know, it is almost impossible to do any really 'neat' Fatalities before the timer runs out and even on difficult, it is not a challenge to beat. Probably the greatest challenge is figuring out how to get to battle Jade every single time. Beautifully frustrating
Rayman has traditionally proven high quality graphics and sound, and despite some great limitations on the Game Boy Color system, Rayman still delivers the goods. This has to be one of the prettiest carts out there, and its music actually sounds half decent considering the materials it has to work with. Rayman is also one of the better side-scrolling platforms available for the system, but it doesn't come without a gripe or three. The password save makes it less convenient to pick up and play anytime you want. Later levels become very frustrating, also. Imagine having your controls reversed through an entire world or being followed in every footstop by a "dark Rayman." Games need challenge, but not to this extent. Remember, Game Boys break very easily, and Rayman does everything it can to promote that.

A REALLY fun game
I thought Rayman was sooo fun. It had really cool grafics. Some times it was really hard though.For me Rayman never gets boring.If you dont already have it get rayman!!!!

I am suprissed that this game doesn't get as much credit that it deserves. The graphics are some of the best I have seen on the Game Boy, and the game is great. Not what expected
It's an okay game, but I'd recommend it for gamers who are 10 and under. The graphics are pretty good for GBC and the gameplay doesn't have any big flaws. I really enjoyed seeing the Lego world on my gameboy. The only major thing I didn't like about the game is the ending. When I got there, I didn't even know that I was finished and it only took me an hour or less. I'd recommend buying the original LEGO Island for PC, because it is more in-depth and has lots of modes of transportation. For example, you can ride a motorcycle, a bike, an ambulance, a jetski and more. The only two flaws are that you can't walk outside the paths/roads and you don't really get to fly the chopper. You should get the LEGO Island PC version for kids 7-13 and Lego island gamboy if it's for a 6-10 year old.

Not sure if it was worth the effort...
It is a great game, the graphics are incredible and my son really likes it, HOWEVER, it took me 3 weeks to install -- and I'm pretty good with computers! The system requirements also seem VERY high, so be sure your computer can run this game.

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
I am 6 and play this by myself.Some of the turns are really hard . There are 3 races for each planet.It is not like the computer game.I have only won the first race on Tatoine.I don't like the Hoth race.

Awesome GameBoy Game!
This is the best Game Boy Color game I have ever played in my life! The graphics are excellent, considering the graphical limits placed on the system. The sound is awesome, and I like the rumble pack that is included with the game. It has a great replay value, and the game play never really gets boring. The only thing I had trouble with was the tight turns, but even here it wasn't really a problem. Anyone who is a Star Wars fan, looking for a good GBC game, or buying for little kids should buy this game!

A Good One
This is a colorful game with interesting characters.It requires a lot of thought and exploring, with a small strategy requirement.The levels are big and full of friendly villagers, multiple enemies, and you will occasionally see characters such as the horse, Devon and Cornwall, and Merlin the magician appears in almost every level to help you prepare to battle bosses.A lot of time is required to get through the game, considering most problem-solvers aren't easily uncovered.Certain bosses require certain strategies that take a few losses to finally figure out, such as the giant plant.

A monster of a game
Godzilla is a game like the railed shooters on PCs. the game basically has you playing a Godzilla. You have no control over godzilla's movements as he walks on his own free will...sideways. You get to control his tail to attack, his head to breath fire and bite, his paws to take cover and to swipe with his pwas and his legs to thump the ground and cause a shockwave destroying everthing near him. Well if you are stiil reading this review then you will have guessed by now the nature of the game. If you find this kind ofgameplay to be your idea of fun then you are welcome. Though I was apprehensive about the game at first but i got to know the finer points of this game. This game is too short though as it can be finished under 5 hours. The graphics are great for a color gameboy system and the sounds are well mediocre. The gameplay is quite easy and most beginners will be able to finish this game. Overall I give it 4 stars out of 5.

Godzilla is great!

Extraordinary
Lara Croft on the tiny screen does some amazing things in a mighty small arena -- in the first half dozen panels of this sidescroller, she walks, runs, somersaults, jumps, grabs, pulls levers and shoots (with her magic Hollywood Special pistol that never runs out of ammo) scorpions, bats and snakes, and saves game at the first Silver Crystal to come along, with another crystal tantalizingly visible just beyond reach.It truly is amazing.The effect is like reading the Classic Comics version of Tomb Raider 3 -- lots of temples and jungles action, and every plot point and traditional Tomb Raider gimmick represented (or at least suggested) in the frame.Don't get me wrong, it's not a movie (even the "movies" are comic-style panels with dialog between still frames), and the graphics are primitive -- but Ms. Croft is rendered with character and flexibility intact.We get sucked into the game almost immediately, putting the GBC Tomb Raider (aka "The Nightmare Stone" but the 4-color printed paper label on this dark green transparent gamepak just says "Tomb Raider") in the same company as Link's Awakening.I was delighted to collect this, and even more delighted with the unexpected level of play.

The Power House
That's not true, I did enjoy the manga-styled Bomberman movie scenes, but the game... EUH! It's the ancient style, offers very little, and NO variety. I enjoyed the N64 Bomberman for it's multi-player, here they left that out and it left a big gap. Trying to play is ridiculous, the computer loses about 7 percent of the time, and it's no fun attempting to beat them. You never feel responsibility for the loss. The game can change soo quickly that it might as well be set to one minute, to save us time. There's way too much going on in one screen, like 50 different things and it's like you're supposed to try to watch it all, and you don't... and you lose. Also, there isn't even an Adventure mode here! It's all bombing in a small space. You always start out in a cramped area, far away from opponents. It's so old, and dull, it's begging for a drastic gameplay overhaul, like the N64 version (not saying that was great, but it WAS a direction with genuine innovation). All of the elements exist for a fun game, but it doesn't ever come together. I kept wondering when I would get to the fun part. ...

Best Game I Have
This year I got this game for my B-day in May and in June I beat it.It isn't as difficult as other reviews make it seem. The graphics, music, andpuzzles is what made this game terrific for me. I, personally like achallenging game, one that you don't win in a month, but not one that takesyears to figure out. This game isn't wimpy or too hard, it's right in themiddle. I would highly reccommend Montezuma's Return to anyone. Awesome game!
Montezuma's Return is one of the best games I have. It has better features than the Atari version I have and is more challenging. I personally like the fact that there is a save mode and a map. Game designers are improvinggame classics and definitely have made this one terrific.

3.5 stars - better than people say it is
The Castlevania series is, without question, one of the greatest two-dimesional side-scrolling platformer action game series of all time. Unfortunately, the series had its share of blunders, too, one of which being the first entry on the Game Boy - the game had an extremely slow character, jerky play control, and virtually no replay value. Fortunately, the second Game Boy entry renewed my faith in the series having potential on a portable console. Not bad
Over all its a difficult game that follows the movie pretty closely. Many of the same jokes and content from the movie is here. Im surprised they put some of th ethings like the guu with the boobs on his head in, and hitler dressed as the maid, complete with his catch frase holy sh*t. Even the opening seen with they guy looking in the window at the girl is still here. The game itself is a side scoller like mario. you just have to manuever the levels and ususaly do somtheing. It is hard though, very hard. If they game play were better im sure it would have done better. im surpised it got a teen reating for strong language and sexual themes. Its not bad just a little hard and a little boring.

This game is a direct adaption of the game during the introduction. The storyline (same as the film's) is that Nicky's father (Satan) is going to retire so he plans to pick one of his 3 sons to take his place as ruler of Hell.Adrian and Cassius (Nicky's other brothers) have high hopes for winning, while Nicky hopes not to be picked.The father decides his sons are not ready to take over Hell so he will reign for another thousand years or so.Adrian and Cassius, enfuriated by this, travel through the firegate to Earth.The gate blocks souls from entering Hell so the devil begins to deteriorate.He sends Nicky to Earth to bring back his brothers before he fully disappears. Review for Men in Black
Ok, Men in black is...well...ok. Not the greatest game in my collection, but still not the worst either. It doesn't have very good graphics, and the sound quality isn't the best either. Control is suprisingly good, and replay is not much boring as the first time. Overall, it's OK. One of the worst games I ever played.
This is easily one of the worst games I have ever played. The graphics are unpolished and lack detail, and the controls are terrible. I hate this game, and there are only six short levels.

A waste...
The movie Shrek was a clever, funny respin of a popular fairy tale theme that looked amazing to boot. Shrek: Fairy Tale Freakdown is none of these things. To quote my cousin, "I thought it would be Shrek running around smashing stuff!" but instead I got a mediocre fighter obviously designed by a mentally retarded cockroach. You can beat it in ten minutes or less, but won't enjoy a second. There isn't really sound to speak of, and the graphics look like LEGO people melted in the microwave for an hour or so. The characters all fight the same way. Do not buy!

An Okay Shrek Fighting Game.
Shrek: Fairy Tale Freakdown is the first Shrek fighting game, and it was pretty good. You get to play as one of several Shrek 1 characters and make your way through the various levels, beating the snot out of your opponents all the way. This game was okay, but a little too hard and repetitive. Still, you should rent it. It's not quite good enough to buy.
