Question
Why am I seeing this game for hundreds of dollars?Has it become a collectors item?Hopefully for those who are paying that much, Sony doesn't decide to produce more and bank on the current lunacy.Great game though...

One of the greatest RPGs ever made
Though this title feels a bit outdated now, back in 1997 it was considered revolutionary, and for good reason. The graphics IMO stand the test of time with lush, beautiful landscapes and detailed backgrounds... though TBH the character designs leave quite a bit to be desired. The epic and incredible musical score matches the emotion conveyed by every scene in the game, this is truly some quality composing (BTW, buying the OST for this game would be a wise investment). Each of the several characters are given convincing feelings and depth, and by the end of the game you'll probably think you actually know these people. Though the game can be a bit easy at times, overall the game is paced very well, no really challenging bits coming up at unexpected times. The villain of the game, Sephiroth, is very well thought out and sinister, though TBH I didn't like him as much as Kefka from FFIII (the American version). The ATB battle system utilized in the game really keeps you on your toes, you've really got to prepare carefully for some of the tougher boss fights. The amount of side quests in the game are plentiful, with most of them being challenging, fun, and very rewarding. All in all FFVII holds a very special place in my heart not only because of its nostalgic value, but also because it's a genuinely great game. Anyone who hasn't played it yet should make an effort to do so right away, though I would recommend trying to find it cheaper than what the Amazon sellers are currently asking for it.

Great once Now it is outdated
Final Fantasy VII was a revolutionary title to say the least. The game contained several things that wowed gamers everywhere such as beautiful graphic, new battle system(limit break, materia) and actually engaging plot. When I played it in 1997!!, I absolutely loved it and thought that it was oneof the greatest game ever made.

Wasn't the very first Crash Bandicoot game supposed to become one of the all-time greatest Playstation games?That's what Sony thought would happen back in the day.After all, they promoted the game to death.Well look at that... didn't happen!And with good reason.The game is horrible.I can't believe ANYONE would prefer this junk over Sonic the Hedgehog or, especially, the Mario Bros. series.

My Favorite
Crash Bandicoot's my favorite video game character and all his work is genius.I'm looking forward to his latest video game installment, Crash Tag Team Racing.The game's graphics are good, the gameplay itself sounds amuzing, and the trailer (on GameSpot) prove how visually stunning it's going to be too.But, Crash's humble beginning is not the same as Mario and Sonic's were.It was much better, more creative, and bigger.

just avoid it
WAY too many positive reviews for such a crappy game.That's what I think.Syphon Filter is atrocious.I received this game as a Christmas present (gee, what a crappy gift) back in the late 90's.I thought to myself "well, all the N64 players have Goldeneye, I can compete with them when I receive Syphon Filter for my Playstation!"How wrong I was.
Awesome, addicting
During one of my many ventures to my local game store a year and a half ago, I came across a game called "Syphon Filter". Intrigued, I went ahead and bought it, popped it in my Psone, and to this day, it is one of the best games I have ever played. I have beat the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and am on my second "pass" through the series. I will then give the "Omega Strain" a go on my PS2 once I am finished with SF3. While I have read no so favorable reviews on OS, I think it would be fair to at least give it a try.

A good Game with a serious case of the Glitches
Mortal Kombat Trilogy, a fighting game that takes all of the characters from 1-3 and Ultimate MK3 and placed in a massive (at the time) fighting game. basically all of the same sprites from the other games (excluding Johnny Cage, which is the only new looking sprite in the game) put them in a fighting game that is just Mortal Kombat 1-3 with a few missing levels, missing the Pit 2 fatality animation, and adding 4 older versions of the characters with some horrible animation. I still like the older MK games, but with the age of the newer mortal kombats (Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armeggedon), these games feel a little too outdated. I think this is a great game but it has a ton of glitches (and there's only one good glitch in this game). when you turn on the 1 button fatality option and when you try to finish your opponent with your 1 button fatality, it doesn't always happen. sometimes you might end up still trying to finish your person off and no matter if you hit that person or whatever, you have to wait until the match is finished. When you play this on a PS2, if you have the speed doubled and you finish a match, it freezes on you, if you have the graphics level doubled and you either finish the match or something else that you do, it might or will freeze up. If you don't have either option on and you decide to start over from the beginning (that stupid buy in screen is what I am talking about), it freezes on you. The only good glitch in this game is that when you play as Noob Saibot and you do that jump and grab move, if your opponent is to the point to uppercutting him/her off the bridge and into the Pit 1 spikes, you can actually have that person fall all the way to the ground instead of just landing on the spikes and having them stopping the opponent falling all the way to the ground. you can actually see a little bit of blue on the bottom of the screen when this happens.
mortal kombat trilogy
Mortal Kombat Trilogy was a popular game back in the early days of the Playstation's existence. Even before the Playstation Mortal Kombat was known as a groundbreaking game for its graphic violence on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. It was the first of its kind, or one of the first. Looking back at the old 2D fighter games, despite the heavy amount of blood and all the creative fatalities, Mortal Kombat STINKS, plain and simple. The game tries to look dangerous and back in the day it really WAS a threat. Parents were terrified that their children might experience all the blood and gore.

Metal Gear Solid is the revolutionary Playstation game that showed the world a new, life-like way to play video games in the late 90's.The influence this game had on the future of video gaming is simply astounding.Metal Gear Solid showed how you can take stealth fighting and wrap a gigantic, memorable story around it.For me, that's exactly the problem. Two GIANT thumbs up!
Oh my gosh, this is the best game I've played and ever will play!!! And I am 1000% sure you will love playing it from start to finish! The people in the game are also very cool, even the bad guys!

I played this gameat a friend's house, I kept going to his house until we finished it, wich took three days. It's fun exept if you finish a level you have to listen to a hologram of Cortex, yawn! This game might be worth it but I don't know how much my friend payed for it so.

This game is awesome but I can't believe the cheapest price to purchase it is almost $50.You can log on to konamistyle, the official website, and purchase the game new for $19.99.You should definately get your hands on a copy!

You all need to play this game earlier
That's it. It's a PS game not PS2 nor Xbox nor GC, so don't expect the same visual effect as those three above. I've played it in 1999 when PS2 was still in design. I gave rank 5 of 5 that time and also 2 thumbs up. It's so obvious that this amazing game the one of the best survive-horror, the atmosphere is even better than that of Resident Evil. So I'm not saying the Silent Hill is the best all the time, but surely it's the best at its time.

You wanna talk about a frightening game that's just downright disturbing, Holy [...]. Think about some of the weirdest, scariest, and creepiest things maybe possible, that's this. Silent Hill, a very first of it's kind, and a momumental breakthrough and undertaking from Konami, unlike other companies that would not have the guts to delve this deep into the evil darkness of the mind. Harry Mason still to this day distraught over the death of his wife several years ago decides to take his daughter cheryl for a late vacation to the town of Silent Hill, but loses her after a car crash leaves him stranded on the outskirts of this town. While trying to find his daughter he roams a fog filled town during the day, but once the air raid siren breaks the quietness a downright bizzare, and dark horror fills buildings and streets with stuff you wouldn't want to even see in your nightmares. And I wish I could say I was exxagerating. I got this game by just bad memory I guess. A zip up cd wallet was left in my apartment by one of my roomates friends containing some Playstation(2)games, including Silent Hill 2 also. With the fact that there's nothing to easily visible with the light on, and how coarse and old the graphics were, and the fact you can hear a creature nearby but not be able to tell exactly where it is is what led me to stop playing it a few years ago. I was SERIOUSLY too freightened to play it. That's no lie or exageration. This my best friend can tell you too. I saw the movie and thought, I saw the movie, I might at well play and this time finish the game. and I beleive at this point I'm close to being just as far as I was before I quit playing. This game is not for people with weak stomachs or people that get scared esily or don't like being scared. I'n my opinion the scariest game you could play, and not just scary, but disturbing, as the stuff in the game would come from a very very dememnted mind. CTR is a good racing game.It's not one of the best,but it's OK. I don't play often racing games.
I love this game!
The only game system I have is GBA, but I play this game on the PS1 at my church. No one can beat me at it. Here's the secret: if you want to win, get Pura, he's the best one. And if you're in first place, and you see two arrows coming together behind your kart, drop into second place, because the rocket(that'what the arrows mean)will hit the one in 1st place. Once that character is hit, you can get back into fist place. Trust me, I've done it before, it works.

Aboslutely the BEST!!!!!
This is one of the best games out there for any console. If you don't know whether it's a good game, it is, and it's worth $54.99 (I'm serious!). It's got lots of tracks, lots of charactors, bonus tracks, bonus characters and much much much much much more (MUCH). It's got good multiplayer, nice adventure mode, VERY COOL CONTROLS, including the ability to power slide for a boost (easy to do), and of course, much much more. By the way, if anyone knows how to REEEAALLYY get Nitrous Oxide, PPPPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEE LET ME KNOW HOW!!!!! If you're going to get this game (PLEASE DO) you might try getting the official strategy guide from Prima.

The arcade has it made!
OK, I am going to start off by saying, as you might have guessed from the title, I've played this BRILLIANT game in the ARCADE, not on the Playstation. But then again, who cares?! It's the same game and it's equally fun! This is among the best fighting games I've ever played. I love it, I love it, I love it. So many cool characters are in this game, including nearly all of my top 10 favorite heroes and villains, as well as the best(and only)neutral fighter here, Yoshimitsu. Anyway, here it goes. This game is about trying to protect the world from a soul eating ogre. On to the pros and cons.

Tekken delivers again. This time I know the story. 15 years after the 2nd tournament, some of the worlds best fighters are disappearing. Heihachi belives it is because of Ogre, a super-human fighter that feeds off the souls of the warriors he holds. In an attempt to lure him out, Heihachi starts the 3rd tournament with some new fighters.

A wonderful game that will be played for years to come but...
Parasite Eve is, without a doubt in my mind, one of the many great games for Playstation. It's an RPG game mixed with a bit of sci-fi action.
My RPG Exception
I've never been a fan of RPGs. My introduction to the RPG world was a Final Fantasy and it had me screaming as I waited for the enemy to make his move and kick my ass. But Parasite Eve is an exception.
The four M's of PE: Melting, Mutation, Mass-Immolation, and Mitochondria!
Alright, I admit it. I'm 12. BUT, I can handle things like this game. I don't regard it as highly as i did when I was 5-7 years old, but I still love it. Yet somehow, I'm appalled. Its grotesque appearance and people spontaneously combusting may sound horrible, but once you know the story, it gets far better that you ever expected. The FMV sequences are astounding, it is favorably disturbing, it has the most intricate storyline I have ever seen (polar opposite of Quake 2!), AND it is extremely better than it's sequel.
