3-0 out of 5 stars Not great but not totally awful...
The formerly acclaimed franchise mode is back with new features like minor league management and the implementation of the salary crap. But how do you turn the salary cap off? You can't... Also, improving your team in the franchise mode is much too difficult. The gameplay is similar to last years but a few issues have been fixed like your goalie is maybe a little better and you can now score on first shots occasionally. One thing that was not fixed is the A.I. for instance, your teammates are not as offensively good as they were last year and they are not real helpful defensively either. The commentary still needs to be improved and the new button/control scheme is really odd to me,someone who has played the NHL series of games for over 14 years.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!! Still needs work though.
Everything seems fine and fun with this game. I like the way they put an all-star game in season mode. From the beginning of the season, the computer votes on how your or other players are doing in there positions. Whatever player has the most votes in their positions by the all-star game plays in it. And the fun apart about it you get to COACH an all-star team!! It's pretty cool. The only problem I have with this game is it is TOO easy!!! On hard mode it is possible you can win 30-0 in a HOCKEY GAME!!! But you should get this game. GO BLUES!!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars i really believe someone somewhere can do better
I know, I'm an adult- don't even have kids so what am I doing with this game? Well, I'm interested in games, have not been entirely satisfied with the ea sports games I've tried and heard good things about this series, so when I ran across a cheap 2005 hockey I thought I'd try it out. I found it disappointing enough that I probably would not try another backyard game and would not really recommend this to anyone be they 6 or 600.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun on the ice.
I almost didn't buy this one because of the awful box art (what happened Humongus?) but my kids love the other Backyard titles and this one is no exception. My son and even my daughter enjoy playing it. Their favorite is making up their own players for their teams. The game play and characters are delightful. The controlls are easy to learn, my daughter had never played a hockey game before. I highly recommend picking this one up, well worth the $20. ... Read more

Very Satisfied with this bundle pack.Graphics smooth on my toshiba laptop with 1.7 qig pcu; 128 meg intel video card.Nascar was not compatible with my video card but the other games were still fun to play.Rosters aren't up to date, but i'm not a big sports guy so that doesnt matter.over all, fun game's and great deal in this bundle.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some are great, some really really suck.
I am happy I bought this because of NBA and Madden, but NHL and Nascar are unplayable and I uninstalled them both after 2-3 games.I actually threw Nascar into the garbage.
1-0 out of 5 stars BAD REGISTERATION CODES :(
I bought this package and when i installed them the registeration codes worked but when i tried to register the games for online play the told me it is already registered for someone else !!!!!?????

4-0 out of 5 stars NYC#4
Definitely the best they've made. I was surprised at how they made it - great skating, hitting, shooting, and fun. If you miss 97', 98' and 99', this one really brings back their old touch. A real game that's intense, exciting and fun. The best of the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice!
Okay, to start this review off, let me say that the only NHL game I had played before this was 2001.That said, 2004 is a quantum leap forward in just about every area: graphics, ai, gameplay, realism, fight engine...the list goes on and on.So far, my only complaint has been that the scoring leaders in a league post some absolutly impossible numbers, I mean, how does a guy score 18 goals in 8 games?!!!Other than that. this game is definetly worth it.I have spent a little time tinkering with the options to make it just a tad more realistic, but then I just started playing. The Dynasty Mode is absolutly killer.Definetly an awesome game!

3-0 out of 5 stars A mix of good and bad

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME, GREAT FUN, GREAT SPORTS
I got this game just after the closing ceremonies of Torino 2006. The game is great graphically and makes it feel as if you are an Olympian. Compete in luge, bobsleigh, nordic combined, alpine skiing, cross-country, the biathlon, ski jumping, and speed skating. The controls are simple, but the game is challenging. With more than 15 events, 3 difficulties, and multiple challenges, TORINO 2006 is a gold medal winner! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun but flawed
The Good 4-0 out of 5 stars if you thought this was good, wait untill you see NHL 2004!!
NHL 2003 is a fenominal game! I have it for PC and it is so cool! the graphics have improved greatly since last year, there is a new game breaker where the game goes in like a slow moe for like 5 seconds so you can see where to shoot to go for goal. The players respond more accurately to the puck. But wait. the year is almost over. why get that when you can get NHL 2004,which is comming. It's more physical than ever before, with new Bruise Control, an all-new fighting system, more realistic player collisions, and powerful visuals such as popping helmets and breaking glass.Total player control allows you to direct 2-button touch sensitive passes anywhere on the ice, call team strategies on the fly, and aggressively tie up opponents against the boards and in front of the net. Take on the role of GM for up to 20 seasons, drafting and trading players, negotiating contracts, and managing the financial bottom line of your franchise. Earn valuable experience points to upgrade your GM office and/or purchase improvements to staff and facilities, thus improving your team's on ice performance. 39 new international teams from Germany's DEL, Sweden's Elitserien, and Finland's SM-Liga. My advice to you would be wait untill NHL 2004 comes out and then see which one you like more.

3-0 out of 5 stars I played it for a while.....
...and one day when I went to play it and it wouldn't work!! If I was you (and from what I've found out Im not the only one with this problem) I would just wait until 2004 comes out or get 2003. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL GAME!
I really haven't checked out earlier or later (due to system requirements being too high) versions of EA Sport's NHL games for the PC, but this will do quite nicely for a long time, even if I do get that faster, better computer someday. As it is, on my Pentium III 600mhz, with 10g hard drive, 256ram, and 4mb 3d video card (pretty low specs these days, but good enough for now), this runs perfectly, and is the ONLY hockey game you really need for the price.I even find it hard to imagine you CAN get a much more realistic hockey game on the PC, at any price.3-0 out of 5 stars The Pros and Cons of NHL 2001
In order to decide whether or not you will like this game, you have to decide what you're looking for in a Hockey game. 4-0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD GAME
This is a quality game. It is better than expected. That Franchise Mode is a very good. The Free Agency and rookies could have been beter, but for a game coming out in 2000, it is not that bad. the gamplay isn't awsome, but it still is fine. The hitting is great. Some of the big hit can flip a guy over. That is A+ hitting. Shooting and passing is good, and the Goltending & Defense are O.K, but they could be better. The Tournement mode is nice, but there could have been more. The CREATE A PLAYEr thing is one of the elite things in this game. It gives you good options, and has auto modes(For example, if you want your player to be a playmaker, then you scroll down on the bar[you'll find it, don't worry] until you get Playmaker. There will be custom settings to the extent that EA SPORTS thinks a playmaker's talent is. You can change it from there). The shootout mode is nothing spectacular, but it is good enough to be a positive factor in this game. NHL 2001 rarely breaks down, and if it does, it will just be something minor. So, for all NHL fans, BUY THIS GAME. ... Read more

The EA Sports NHL series has always offered high-octane, smash-mouthhockey for fans of the game--and even those who just crave great arcade action.Early incarnations didn't simulate hockey very well, instead offering a sort ofXFL version of the game. They were big on action, hits, fighting, and hattricks, but quite small on niceties such as realism. That was forgivable whengaming was new, but as the graphics and technology grew, EA started hearing fromfans of the sport, fans who wanted real hockey--a true simulation rather than anarcade game. 4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, but one flaw
For all you fans of the series from EA Sports hockey, NHL 2002 is one of the best games yet.Almost everything about this game is cool. The graphics are awsome and the players are realistic. Even the crowd is into he game. This is an improvement over NHL 2001. I find only one flaw. The commentary done by don Taylor is just plain stupid. O.K., to some people, his jokes are mildly funny the first time you hear them and then you get tired of them Then there are people like me who just wish he would say something relivent for once. Other than the commentary, I highly recommend this game to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best there is for pc(except for nhl 2003)
This game is kool. With really kool camera angles, a hit camera, a save camera and a breakaway camera you cant go wrong.Make yourself as good as you wanna be.Control your favorite team.Have nhl cards to boost your players and special cards that let you celebrate after a goal, have an automatic penalty shot or make someone on the other team set out of the game(try it on lemieux in game 7 of the stanley cup playoffs and win!)5-0 out of 5 stars Second only to the Great One himself.
Initially, this game looks a lot like its predecessor, NHL 2001, but once I started to explore the game more, I was amazed at how indepth this game is.It is everything anyone could want in a hockey game.Creating a dynasty, participating in a draft and creating your own team with a fantasy draft are just a few of the things that are like a dream come true.I could not believe the diversity in the commentary, I have played over 500 games and still hear new stuff.NHL 2002 is a massive improvement over NHL 2001, new in-game features along with elimination of some errors in the last one make this a very enjoyable game.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Hockey Game of the Decade
NHL 2002 is by far the best hockey game of the decade. While the drafting could be critiqued, the overall gameplay and graphics for 15 bucks is 5 stars..no question. I recommend this game to any and all who are a hockey fan (or even not a hockey fan)..like myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Unless EA Sports will come up with an improvement to the NHL series next year, NHL 2002 will remain the ultimate hockey game for the PC for some time. With the new reduced-price jewel case edition, there is no reason why even casual PC hockey gamers shouldn't pick it up. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great!
I bought this game in 1999 and still play it. For me it's one of the best addictive sport games ever. I play this one the most just like other classic games like Mario Bros, Lemmings & Donkey kong. NHL '99 is the best version of the whole series because it seems to find a perfect balance between graphics, sound & gameplay. The older versions where not great graphically and the newer ones lack the great gameplay of this version. To me a good game is about great gameplay, exciting sounds & how addictive it is. This game has it all. It's almost like i'm looking at a real hockey game. The checks are great so are the details. You can see the ice scratches, boarding moving etc. Only complains are you get to play the same seasons everytime (the games are the same) and the rookie & pro season might be a bit too easy once you get a hang of it. Also the commentators get a bit annoying after like hearing them for a thousand times! But I still play this game very often.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ahead of it's time but so old you shouldn't bother with it.
This was the HUGEST thing in 1998. But now with the release of NHL 06 99 is 7 years old and obselete. It's a fun game but there are bett ones out there.(by far)

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly fun
The graphics are good, even by today's standards, and the controls are easy to get used to. The goalies aren't TOO hard to beat on the highest difficulty level - once you get the hang of it. The options are great: you can edit the rules of the game, lower the time of each period, enchance the graphics, etc. The biggest error in the game has been mentioned already = the commentator mixes up the teams and says the opposite of what they did. But still, the game is flawless. The gameplay might get repetitive sometimes, but even when you get bored, you'll want to keep playing it over again. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Please save your money!
I bought this game because the price tempted me.Please don't make my mistake!EA Sports is the best sports games company there is, but this pack is a waste. The only game in there that is very good is NHL 99, which I love, but the other three are a total bust.Triple Play 2000 is boring and dull, and Tiger Woods 99 is confusing to understand and difficult to play.I don't know if this is very common, but the NBA Live is full of technical problems, and crashes often.A much better alternative would be to buy NHL 2001, FIFA 2001 or a Madden game.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty cool
EA sports came up with a really fun game. The game play is really good the graphics are also good the only thing is they look alot like nhl 98and99(just slightly improved).Commentary is okay but they repeat the same things alot in the game. There are 3 dificulty levels in the game. rookie (easiest) pro and all-star(hardest). you will notice once you get used to one level the one higher or lower will be slower(i find it a bit of a drag). What i like about this game is that it ha never stoped wile i was playing. The only t6hing is once you get used to the all-star level you can blow out the teams 10-0 and eventually it is not as challinging so if you do a season you end up winning all 82 games. One thing i like about the game is that youre hole team is not the top ten scorers in the league. in previous versionyoure teams players would get 200 points in 75 games and the other teams would get50 points in 82 games. overall this is a very fun and anaddictive game wich i would recommend to any body who likes hockey

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Hockey Game
As soon as I got this game i fell in love with it.It was amazing with all the graphics and how well everything flowed.I also loved the offseason things you could do to your team.I would say that everyone who is interested in Hockey should get this, but NHL 2001 is probably better.
