5-0 out of 5 stars StarCraft:A Classic
Wow, I wasn't really sure what to expect when I bought this game!I had only played once before at a friend's house, and thought, "Oh sure, it's fun, I guess."But after buying this from Amazon, I had yet to discover the fulness of the game!As old as it may be, I discovered how many people still go online to play the game! That alone is proof of how good a game this is.Creating armies to conquer the battlefield, using great strategy along the way, this game really gets you thinking, too!I absolutely love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Blizzard gets the formula right!
Hailed by critics as merely "Warcraft in Space" back when it was released, Blizzard Entertainment's gem is a standard by which all strategy games are now judged. There are 3 playable races to choose from, the xenomorphic alien Zergs, the highly evolved technological Protoss, and the resourceful Terrans. The races are meticulously balanced, and all of them are unique in every sense of the word. The strategies you must devise to win have to be drastically different based on the race you play with, there is no single formula for success, you have to utilize your races' strengths and cover up your weaknesses against your enemy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best
This game is the ultimate in RTS.All of the new RTS games focus on beautiful graphics and cool cut scenes. But after all these years, Starcraft still remains the most refined RTS with the best balance and gameplay you can imagine. If you're a RTS game fan, then you already know how great this game is.If you're not an RTS game fan, then get this game and see the light! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC
I love this game. I want to be a zoologist or a zookeeper, so it's perfect. I think it's very realistic too. The animals get sick, reproduce, and everything. I STRONGLY recommend this game!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Zoo Tycoon: Up to standards and beyond!
This is tons better than Roller Coaster, Sea World and all the other "theme park" tycoon games. The details are great, the animals are colorful and fun to look at and the scenarios are challenging, not easy-peasy like other games. The Dinosaur pack adds a really cool element to the game (They have almost all the animals found in Jurassic Park!) and the Marine tanks and animals are extremly detailed (Look at the shadows!) and cute. The only complaints I have are that the jaguars get ticked off if you don't give them a toy and the Bengal Tigers breed too much. Otherwise it is the perfect cure to boredom. A must buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very fun game. a kids review

3-0 out of 5 stars You Don't Need Civ4
In late 2002, I took a second job at a major electronics retailer and decided to use my employee discount on what looked like a cool game: Civilization III.That game changed my life... in the gaming sense. It was everything I ever thought a computer game should be: turn-based strategy with multiple avenues to test my ego and self-promoted genius.Above all features of Civ3, however, my most favorite was the customization of the game through the map editor and the wonderful online resources of the Civ community.(I've downloaded more Civ3 files than MP3s.)This allowed me to express my self-proclaimed genius with new rules, technologies, and units (and all the accompanying chronologies and requisites) at my discretion.Nothing could get any better, I had thought.
3-0 out of 5 stars NOT COMPLETE
There is no scenario editor and if you want a manual you will have to print out a copy of the pdf file at your own expense.

4-0 out of 5 stars only a couple complaints
The main problem is that diplomacy really doesn't work--the game is very much geared toward fighting to win. I'm hoping Civ4 has better options for the diplomatic route. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars never delivered!!
I would like to review this game but i havent recieved it!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Loved it...when i could play it
I used to play this all the time when i was young and it was honestly one of my absolute favorite games.I was able to play it on my XP OS in 2003 (changed the color settings and it was fine) but uninstalled the program.I tried to install it again fairly recently and now it won't work. It's a shame really.I wish they'd make an updated version that works with XP as this is a great learning tool for kids.I was barely finishing grade school when I got this game and it really strengthened my knowledge of Geography.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent city and region simulator
This is my first Sim game, and I love it.There are three modes to play in:in God Mode, you terraform the region, adding cliffs or valleys, flattening shores, planting forests, etc; in Mayor mode, you will zone areas, add utilities and services, and receive input from dozens of informative graphs, data and advisors; in MySim mode you can create individuals and then name them, give them a place to live and a car to drive, etc.
3-0 out of 5 stars Review for the Military Members Apple User Group
When so many games these days focus on death and destruction, it's nice to have a constructive alternative that is still truly addictive. Filling that niche, as ever, is the prominent Maxis series SimCity.
3-0 out of 5 stars Way Overpriced For What You Get, Unless You Are Paying For Frustration
Computing power makes little difference with this game; performance is poor! Some processes in the game are very slow, such as trying to select subway stations, subway tubes, and water mains. There is also an issue with city boundaries becoming misaligned with neighboring cities, of their own accord, it seems. If you choose to correct this, be prepared to loose any development(s) along those boundaries.

5-0 out of 5 stars Always have great fun
Wow wow wow...what can I say, if you think Starcraft is fun, you should REALLY try Broodwar, The enhancement may not be a lot, but they kinda gives everyone a little more incentive to fight. Absolutely fantastic game that still thrills me everytime I play. With hundreds or maybe thousands of map available for downloads, you can be sure of hours, days, weeks, months or even years of fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Old Gamer
This is an awesome game from Blizzard...Graphics, Play, Sound...It's an older game with ALOT to offer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Period
I have been playing this game for 5 or 6 years. It is the best game period. It is somewhat difficult but not impossible to complete. Plenty of levels and missions. Good controls, great graphics for it's time and still stands up well to this day, great sound, good music, great storyline. There is a campaign editor, so after you have finished playing the regular game you can create your own game or play some of the custom games that are already provided. I keep waiting and hoping that Blizzard is going to do a quality sequel to this game and right now I am very disappointed that I have not heard anything to indicate that they are. One more thing, although system requirements does not state it, it will work on Windows XP, it has on mine anyway, without using the compatibility mode I might add. This is a great game do yourself a favor go out and buy it, now! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is a major high!
I think it's a great game, and you can play online with other people around the world. It's good your're able to play online, because after awhile the easy level, gets to be boring. There are different levels to keep your intrest. The campains are really awsom. They never become boreing. The Mythology in it is real. This game is a real high, easily gets addictive.Days of fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHY IS IT A GOOD GAME?
There are alot of reasons so you dumb people that rtae it low probably never played it heres why i think its great.
4-0 out of 5 stars a fun game,short campaighn
If you liked aok you will probaly like aom,the x-pack. The x-pack has A new culture and new technologies. But it has some BAD qualities, such as the short campaighn, 12 scenarios, wheras the first aom has a 36 scenario campaighn. IT also has many good features such as new technologies, titan units and a new race, the atlanteans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will not run on new Mac's
the manufacturer needs to state upfront that the game will not run on the new intel based macs. I too called Aspyr and they said they are trying to come up with a patch, but don't know when that will happen. As of now it is not high on their priority list. We would not have purchased had we known.
4-0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT OPERATE ON MAC MINI!
Just be aware it does NOT work on the MAC Mini with the dual core chip.Only "OLD" MAC products.I've called the manufacturer of the game to verify this."Maybe" in the future, but obviously not now.A shame as that's what a lot of kids are getting these days as an inexpensive but quality computer.
1-0 out of 5 stars Too loud, too violent
This game, which comes with warnings that it may cause seizures, is too loud, with bright flashing lights. My son tried it out once, and his sisters immediately started complaining that it was loud and violent, a definite waste of time.I found it did not work so well on our MAC - though it said to click on the exit button to end a game, there was no exit button. We returned this game and bought the backyard baseball game for MACS, a game with more educational value and no loud, flashing lights. My son let me return the Star Wars game with no resistance. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game, prompt shipping
I've been a longtime fan of starcraft ever since it came out... which I'm sad to say is becoming a quite large body of time. The product was great, except that the cd-key I was provided with the software was muted on battle.net.I'd never even seen that before.I'm having to spend a great ammount of time correcting that, but otherwise, delicious!

5-0 out of 5 stars StarCraft i didnt just get this game had it since i was 10
This is a great game truly a great game very good very very good lovet the races and story and characters like Jim Raynor awsome guy and love the expansion pack and want a starcraft 2 sometime(not ghost!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Time Strategic Slugfest
StarCraft does fall into the RTS genre; resource gathering, unit creation, base building, ect. But it isn't as demanding for a strategic genius as games like Age of Empires or Rise of Nations. Nonetheless, it's an explosive game that will keep you busy for a long time. In a way, StarCraft is a great change of pace for fans of more complex RTS games (like me). Playing Rise of Nations all the time can start to get overwhelming because of the constant mass and micro management needed. In StarCraft, you don't have to deal with a ton of diplomacy issues or anything like that. A typical game has things set up kind of like an RTS death match. All of the resources you need are sitting right next to your base. Collect them, build defenses, then build an army. You can choose from three different races. The Terran, a human army of colonists, Zerg, a race of bugs, mutants, and everything creepy and crawley, and the Protos, a super intelligent race with psionic powers. Each race (Terran, Zerg, Protos) have their one advantages and disadvantages. The Terran are well balanced and are best for beginners. They have good infantry and a variety of defenses. One good advantage is that important Terran Buildings (command centers, barracks, ect.) can lift off the ground and fly to a new area for a quick escape. The Zerg rely on the masses. Their units are not as powerful but they are also less expensive and some are created in groups. One of their disadvantages is that they cannot build (mutate) on normal ground; only on a thick slime that covers the ground near their buildings. The Protos have very powerful units, but they are more expensive and take longer to build. A huge advantage for the Protos is that they don't have to sit at a construction site and waste time building it up. All you have to do is get one of your little probes to warp the building in. The second the probe reaches the building site, they actavate a portal and the building basically starts to build itself, allowing the probe to tend to other matters. As a side effect, they can't repair damaged buildings. The sounds are nothing to make a whole extra section about (zap, boom, kerpow, "gimme somethin' to shoot.") but they're what you would expect from a game like this. The music also fits the mood perfectly. The graphics are about the same as Age of Empires II with a slightly more animated look making everything look and run smooth. It's hard to tell how good the AI is because of the simple tactics they use; launch waves of troops at your enemies and destroy them all. The AI also loves to rush. Expect to be attacked about five minutes into the game. Along those lines, the computer does very well. The environments are very interesting and original, covered with black dirt, craters, strange animals and purple trees. StarCraft also has a great (and free) online multiplayer with an endless number of people to play with. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars awsome but...
a great game but it somtimes crashes for no reason at all. also atari never made the expantions for the mac and only for windows.
2-0 out of 5 stars Poor performance/poor support
I was wonderfully excited to see this game for mac but have been very depressed by the game's performance. I have a brand new, top of the line mac book pro... the best money can buy... extra memory, best processor etc, and yet this game has a terrible lag and crashes. On top of that the mouse interfaces are wretched. Even with a blue-tooth pc-style mouse the scrolls frequently lock up and, for example, right now the mouse functioning is so poor I cannot play the game. What makes this particularly dissapointing is that I have attempted to use the companies tech-support to figure out why things are going so poorly and have recieved no assistance.
5-0 out of 5 stars I hate computer games! However....
This game rocks. When I was a little boy, I used to imagine building my own amusement parks- so as you can imagine, the little kid in me was in heaven with this game. It's fun, it looks amazing, it has a diverse range of elements to keep your interest. Love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this game!!
A must have for children 3-4 years old. When my son turns on the computer, Trouble on the Tracks is the first game he reaches for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ask what platform you need before you purchase
This must be a very old release and I suppose, although I haven't looked, that somewhere on the initial annoucement it mentioned that it could only run on WIN97 but what I did see was that it was MS WINDOWS compatable and so I didn't investigate further.Too bad, because it wasn't until I opened the packaging and read the manual that this was found out (it was NOT on the outside of the package).Big disappointment.I don't know who is running WIN97 anymore.Perhaps a bit more information and notice would be helpful when advertising this product?

5-0 out of 5 stars Super fun for Thomas's Fans
My 3 year old grandson enjoyed this game and was able to do all the activities. The only thing missing was being able to drive Thomas on the railroad with him as the engineer. At the end of the game, it would have been wonderful for the designers of the game to let Thomas ride around railways with the child being able to make stops and choices where to drive the train on the island of Sodor. It is a game he comes back to play with many times. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's as good as I remembered it!
I've played Diablo before, when it first came out.It was fun, exciting and learning the tricks to beat the game was great. As with all things - time, moving, etc - I lost my original copy and had several hard drive formats. When I went to order it anew, I found that Blizzard no longer carries/sells the single Diablo (the original game) disc.I found it here on Amazon and ordered it from NothingButSoftware. They sent it in a bubble pack, the disc in a software disc envelope, and the software, per the ad, was new.It arrived in a timely matter according to the Amazon shipping rules (4 days I believe it was) and in good condition.I highly recommend all 3 to anyone who wants Diablo, wants a good merchant, or an overall good company - Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Diablo 1
I enjoy the game a lot and have for several years. It is getting harder and harder to find a copy of Diablo 1
5-0 out of 5 stars this game doesn't seem old
The story of Diablo is based on premise of a war between Heaven and Hell. The town of Tristram is under attack by demons, and the player must save the town. As the player delves into the underworld, he discovers more about the demon Diablo, through large tomes that are read aloud by the character. Eventually, the player reaches the lair of Diablo and must kill him. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive! be warned
Too addictive to resist, popcap games have been described as crack for your computer. This is accurate. Fun for the casual game player, or the serious one, Zuma is for everyone, and no one who plays it will ever be bored with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Zuuummmaaa
I like playing the full version of Zuma better than the partial version on line. I'm very glad I bought it. Rapid fire destruction is a blast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun game.
Very addictive. Found it quite exciting. Have finished it many many times so that just goes to show that once you've beat it, you can still enjoy it. You can try to beat times, scores, etc, so there is more than just one game here. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
Luxor is a fabulous game, addictive, and on a couple of levels very difficult. My other half is a true gamer and loved it too, and found it to be quite challenging. There are some very challenging levels--the Khufu levels--but once you get past them, you're able to do it again. You will love this game. The colors and graphics are very nice eye-candy.You'll wake up in the middle of the night thinking "twenty more minutes...just another twenty minutes and I'll have it licked."Have fun!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!
I'd like to give this game five stars. It's fun, fast, and and entertaining and I really enjoy playing it.Unfortunately they designed a couple of the levels too hard. Level 5-4, for example. It's nearly impossible to get through this level. If you do, they have an even harder version of it later in the game.Do a search for Luxor 5-4 or 8-4 and you'll see tons of comments about people stuck on these levels.
2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed!
I made it to the 9th stage and enjoyed it along the way BUT it is virtually impossible to get past the second segment of the 9th stage. If you enjoy stress and anxiety then you will love this game. Personally, I consider it to be worth maybe half of what I paid for it. ... Read more
