4-0 out of 5 stars Hair-trigger intensity
Yes, it takes about half a second to die in this game when you're in the hard areas. This game is best played with groups, because there is NO story. That drawback aside, there are some stunning environments. When this game was first released I was amazed that my then-dated computer could run it.The trick is that the ID developers know how to optimize system resources to make the gameplay awesome and the visuals beautiful as well.Granted, this was high-tech six years ago, but the age factor is outweighed by the sheer quality of the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even NOW a great game!!!
Even after QUAKE 4 & Doom 3 (and all the other FPS quake/doom rip-offs)have come out QUAKE 3 is still just flat out FUN!!! The graphics are dated, yes, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the game is as addicting as chocolate crack.Capture the flag mode is by far my favorite. I got a couple friends together with our computers hooked up to a router...FREAKIN GREAT!!! If you have to have top notch graphics to have fun then you are probably an idiot who has been born in the past 10-15 years and the only thing that will make you happy is to play the latest U.S. military game(tom clancy, conflict, socom...yawn) and to nurse your pokemon fetish on the side. Stop playing that junk and pick up a shooter that has real weapons of mass destruction.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST FPS game EVER!!
I've played lots of FPS games: Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Quake I & II, the DOOM series, Unreal, the AvP series(which is awesome), Wolfenstein, Deus Ex(also awesome), etc.You name it, I've probably played it...but QUAKE III wears the crown for most badass straight-up FPS game.Very intense and lots of fun.And the online Capture the Flag games are highly addicting. This game is about 3 years old and I'm still waiting for someone to top it!DEFINATELY WORTH THE MONEY!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars ARE YOU READY FOR THE JACK ATTACK?
Aside from The Sims and Who Wants To Be a Millionaire You Don't Know Jack is my third favorite computer game and is one of the the two games in the YDKJ series which I own and the reason I like it is because it's real silly and is a good game to cheer you up when you're down.In this version you'll meet the very silly and sometimes rude host Cookie who always has a teasing word to say about you when you get a question right and the White Rabbitish floor manager Raul who always will try to make you hurry up and type your name so the show can start but if you do not they will make up a name for you {such as Doris A Jar}. Also new to this version is a round called Three Way in which you have to link seven names in which the category represents and the tough yet hard Impossible question where 20,000 points can be yours only if you get the answer right.Plus let's not forget the classic Dis or Dat Round and the final battle known as the Jack Attack which is similar to Dis Or Dat and the impotant Gibberish Question which is hard for me,
5-0 out of 5 stars trivia Blast!
For trivia fans everywhere, Jack is a refreshing slap in the face. The catagories are wickedly funny, the format is adorable and the breadth of topics is satisfyingly gluttonous.Rosie has nothing on Jack.I currently own YDKJ, YDKJ vol. 2, YDKJ 3, YDKJ the ride and YDKJ Offline.....and can't wait to get my itchy fingers on more. The game is dangerously addictive, yet every time Cookie gives me an insult I am eager to keep coming back for more. Those who appreciate trivia for trivia's sake will bask in the glow from Jack's screen.

5-0 out of 5 stars JACK V3
The 3rd Game in the JACK series was a big success. With Super Audio and Impossible Impossible Questions.V3 might make game of the year.It is rated T.But I still play it.You Don't Know Jack Volume 3 has 800 questions and is hosted by Cookie Masterson.Who used to be Stage Manager. He's also got a different voice.Once again, the show where high cultureand pop culture collidemakes you Laugh out Loud. 1 to 3 players can play. The Impossible Questions are worth 20,000 dollors. That is a lot! You Don't Know Jack Strikes again with Volume 3. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars OK Game - Installation Unfriendly
While the games themselves are OK but Masque misses the mark with its unfriendly program installation. On a Mac, the program install in a users folder (whoever is installing) rather than the Application folder. If there is more than one user on the computer you have to install the program that many times (for each user) or drag the program to the Applications folder. If you take the latter option, the user must have Admin privelages on the computer in order to save game stats. Not an option in my household. There are no installation options other than what is hard-wired so if you do decide to place it in applications folder you have to manually move it after the install. Why chew up disk space with multiple itterations of a program and why use anything that requires you give Admin privelages to a user so they can get full benefit of the game features? It doesn't make sense.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect set for solitaire fanatic!
I own both Bicycle and Hoyle solitaire games but I play the Masque games far more. The setup - each moveable card is highlighted - makes new games very easy to learn, and the graphics are great. I did have a problem with the games freezing up (which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars) but a patch from the Masque web site fixed it perfectly. I have learned dozens of new games on this software, and enjoyed them all. I hope they put out more games soon. I would buy them without reserve.

3-0 out of 5 stars Animations and customization bring new life to solitiaire
I bought this solitaire collection as a coffee break package when I'm not on the net or working on reports and it is a fine piece of software for what it is. It is highly customizable and allows you to even make your own games based on rules in place for other games. The ant animations are humorous but get stale after a while. Different backgrounds, card backs, and other options make this game fresh. Recommended.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars won't work on windows XP
Just received this and it said on Amazon website that it works with windows XP but it doesn't. The box says windows 95 and 98. And there was a contest registration that expired in 2000! So this game is very old and doesn't work on XP despite what Amazon says.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Out of all 4 editions, the 2nd is the best!
I just recently recieved my copy of Millionaire 2nd Edition which I ordered a few days ago and it is the best one in my opinion!
1-0 out of 5 stars Awful!

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning to all: runs only on out-of-date systems.
I can't comment on Riven itself but I can comment on the misleading marketing.I have a Mac operating Mac OS 10 on a PowerPC chip. The system requirements list only "PowerPC" as required. But in fact Riven only operates under the "Classic" environment which means Mac's running 10.2.6 or LESS.Buyer beware.
5-0 out of 5 stars Second great installment in the Myst saga
I tell you this, the creators of Riven sure did their homework in the four year gap between the original Myst and Riven. The graphic improved drastically, meaning whatever computer you were running the original Myst in '93/'94 (Myst first appeared on the Mac in '93, then the PC the following year) would probably not be adequate to run Riven. Certainly Myst had made even greater improvements in the graphics department since Riven, like the 360 degree panning feature for Myst III: Exile, and even more photo-realistic graphics and animation for Myst IV: Revelation, but even for 1997 standards the graphics to Riven still hold up, although it's rather obvious the graphics looks a little more pixelated during some of the animated scenes (like when you take a ride on the cable car, probably to keep the animation fast without slowing it down for the computers of the time). But for the most part, the graphics seem so realistic you almost feel like you're there. Of course the big pain is this game consisted of 5 CD-ROM discs, which you have to swap every now and then, it's too bad they didn't have an install feature where you could install all five discs on to hard drive and only need to use one disc to play the game (like the much maligned Schizm: Mysterious Journey, a game from Poland that's very much like Myst, which had five discs in the CD-ROM version, and you had the option for full install so you didn't have to keep swapping discs).
4-0 out of 5 stars The biggest Myst game
This game actually stands up to the test of time, as opposed to Myst part one's antiquated technology, and ancient graphics...Unfortunately, I never got to play these games when they came first came out, and being spoiled with all the improvements in the visual department over the years, had to start with Riven instead of Myst. The game is probally the largest and most meticulous effort of all 5 games, simply for being a little larger and a little more designed then many of the future under-developed, but beautiful lands Myst would take us to..Obviously this game is for a certain type of "quiet" gamer, who prefers exploration and figuring out how to work a puzzle out over visceral, button mashing action..If those attributes do intriuge you as a gamer however, there is no better place and example to start with then the legendary Myst series.. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another fun expansion
This expansion pack adds even more decor options, as well as allowing quirky, fun interactions between Sims. Some of the magic spells have weird side effects that make it worth your time to figure them out.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good!
This expansion is really fun! You get to do all sort of wicked things, duel with others, use spells and charms. There is a charm, which is the second hardest to unlock, which will make gold coins fall from the sky! Well, most importantly, it works well with Superstar. I don't mean the game performance, I mean to BE a superstar. It was really hard to make friends with somebody famous before, as you have to reach a certain fame level before they don't reject you, but with Makin' Magic, you can just cast a spell, and they can even fal in love with that sim. The best Sims expansion pack up to now!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Sims EVER!
This game is so incredibly fun. I loved it! I'm a Sim fanatic already, so this was totally wicked! I think it is their best yet! You get to do all sorts of fun things...own dragons...make vampire lookin sims...turn neighbors into toads...you know what i mean! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Still worth playing and finishing this golden age series
I played and finished QG1 (back when it first came out as Hero's Quest!) to 4 upon their original release many, many years ago.
4-0 out of 5 stars Time heals all wounds
To be honest, I was quite disappointed with this game when it came out.How could you end such a great series like this?Having played through the Quest for Glory series again just now several years later, I have come to a somewhat different perspective. The game had some inescapable strikes against it from the get go, and all things considered, is a fine ending to the QfG series.5-0 out of 5 stars Glory
Quest For Glory 5: Dragon Fire is not merely the end of a great series, but the end of an era for the entertainment compant Yosemite Entertainment. As a great fan of the series, "Hero" has journeyed from the town of Spielburg to the fog-ridden lands of Mordavia, Raseir, Fricana (not in this order) - and finally the village of Silmaria.Read more

An unknown land unfurls before you. In this strategy game, to become one of Europe's great powers, you'll have to parlay this discovery into conquest. You'll be called upon to exploit the New World's exotic resources and, in doing so, swing the balance of power to your advantage. An anchor in the New World means this: the riches and resources to dominate Europe once and for all.Strengthen your power base back in Europe. Deploy spies to help stay ahead of the technology curve. 5-0 out of 5 stars A classic
This game is a real gem, and is one of my all-time favourites. It is surprisingly good, given its age and relative lack of polish. The emphasis is on slow and deliberate strategy, rather than fancy graphics or crowd-pleasing action.
4-0 out of 5 stars Might be best of its genre.
What is great about this game is balance. One word that could describe Imperialism II is "elegant."The player must constantly be planning ahead and balancing numerous policy objectives in order to avoid being overtaken by the computerized players. If you ever believe that going with the status quo is the best move for a turn, then you are in big trouble. The game develops slowly, but change is constant and unstoppable.
5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive, One that survives the times
I got tired of the first-person shooters I was playing and went to the archive of my gaming library to play this very addicive game. When it is time to take a break you just have to go one more turn.A complicated game of solitaire as I can find no current game support for multiplayer, yet this does not take away from the fun as you can't play the detailed battle scenes in multiplayer anyway. It is cheap and with low specs. I also recommend the strategy guide. ... Read more

Just thought I would let folks know that it is available (as of this date) at MacPlay for $1.88.But be aware of the high shipping cost.

5-0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best CRPG ever
This game is simply brilliant. It is better than Fallout 1 in many ways. Firstly, it is less linear (if that is even possible)! Your actions during the game cause the endings to differ. You can do whatever you like in whatever order you please, and there is no longer a time limit (150 days). Yes, the game is a little harder than the first Fallout, but that is a good thing -- The first one was a little on the easy side. I cannot even put how good this game is into words. I 100% guarantee that you will love this game if you have even the slightest desire to play a post-apoc turn-based RPG. It is simply the best one in existence.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Fallout 2
By the time the Fallout games were released for the Mac, they were both dated in terms of graphics and overall game technology. What ISN'T dated about these games is the interesting storyline, the humor, the characters, and the world of Fallout itself, which is unique.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and motivational tool to learn chess
I was looking for some interesting and educational software for my children and this is exactly that. My son (7)loves it and his chess skills have improved already. It teaches tactics for chess in a fun way. Definitely recommend this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Follow-up to Fritz and Chesster 1
My kids (6 and 8) are learning so much from Fritz and Chesster 2!! In fact, my 6 year old daughter started winning a few games at their local chess club after graduating to this game (from Fritz and Chesster 1).

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn To Play Chess!
I really like this computer game because it uses parts-to-whole instruction - it introduces each chess piece separately with an interesting strategy game that teaches how it moves.

5-0 out of 5 stars COOOOOOOOOOOOL GAAAAAAAAAME!
I own other backyard games like backyard basketball, backyard soccer, and backyard baseball but this one is the best! The cool things are you can make, and name your own plays, you can name, and make your own players also when the kids score a touchdown they do dances. Some of them are very funny!Another good thing is that the players have great skills, you can play with two people, and you can play with pro players.Bad things- no bad things!Anyone who likes baseball, basketball, soccer or any kind of sport would really, really, really, really like this game.Definitley a game I would recommend!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game in a great series!
This game is magnificent, as is the entire backyard series. You can choose to be an NFL team name or a made-up one.You "draft" your players and can play singles games or entire seasons. The trick plays are great and add even more fun and excitement to the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Backyard Football
Backyard Football if virtually one of the best computer games I have ever played. I'm a girl raised to like football and I even love it. At first I always lost the games I played but If you know the basic rules of football like a second nature and you have a little bit of practice with this game you'll surelyn play it non-stop. Great game I highly recommend. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect combination of story and play
If only more of this team's games were ported to the Mac! This is one of the best games I've played in years. Like some other strategy games, you control a team with various abilities, and there are multiple solutions to many of the challenges. But in this one, you get to be Robin Hood! There's a path for those who like to kill and ways to win with almost no bloodshed. It has humor, drama, and spectacular scenery. There's a satisfying number of challenges but a widely varied range of difficulty settings. I can't say enough good things about this game. It's easier and more low-key than Starcraft or Diablo--two of my all-time favorites. And it's slightly less engrossing than Escape Velocity, the best game ever designed for the Mac. But the blend of story, intercut movies, voices, and game play is almost impossible to beat. I can't believe that "Dead or Alive," this team's other game, isn't available for OS X. It's almost enough to make me want a PC.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is probably one of the best strategy games ever. Unlike most rts's the first level is almost as hard to beat as the last level wich is good and bad. Since the graphics are good and the overall gameplay is good it is agraet game. But it is somewhat unrealstic like when you have to rescue Maid Marian there are more people gaurding the church then there are gaurding the town gates, which are OPEN!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh my God, the king of all games!
This is my undisputed favorite game ever. A little frustrating at the beginning. However, once you get out of the initial dungeon, the fun begins. You play in a vast city where you are able to do what you want when you want. There is absolutely no order that you must quest in. You go from district to district picking up different quests and growing levels as you gain new powers. What you do effects your future in the game and each class has his or her own spicific questline. For example, if you are a rogue, you can join the ranks of the crime organization known as the shadow thieves and eventually become the leader of the chapter. If you area wizard or sorcerer, you can take work in the wizard's guild and go on to own your own lab. If you are a cleric, you can join your church and become a minister. The list goes on and on. Although the game does eventually end, you can start the game over again with your same character at the same level so you can progress to yout max power. Greatest game ever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very addictive
I originally bought this game for my PC.Then, when I converted, I looked at all the games on the Mac.Dungeon Siege didn't have the same type of game play, and Icewindale was just too outdated. However, I loved Baldur's Gate so much...that I bought it again, only the Mac version. The graphics are not the latest and greatest compared to what is out now, but they are very attractive. The big thing for me is the gameplay. The newer games are designed around the user playing only one character. In BG2, I had more fun creating different parties and combinations on my own.The only complaint I had, really, was that this has an experience point cap, so you can't get all the highest level spells and abilities. But, if you buy the BG2, Throne of Baal, it removes that cap and adds even more spells.I recommend this to anyone who loves the original feel of the D&D game. ... Read more
