Editorial Review

In 1995, a young game studio named Westwood released one of the first real-time strategy games. They had created the genre a few years earlier, but this title took the fledgling genre to new heights with impressive graphics, revolutionary gameplay features and an enthralling story told through the then-young art of full motion video. After twelve successful games spread out over ten years, the venerable Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun (Not great support from EA though)
One big thing to note...this package says PC/DVD on the cover, so if your pc has an older CD drive only (as ours does) you will not be able to load it on your machine. We had to put it on a different machine.
5-0 out of 5 stars Deja vu all over
I installed and started C&C: Tiberian Dawn and I immediately went back to the year 1996 when the music "Act on Instinct" played.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the 40 plus price
I guess if you played the who series of Command and Conquer games from the beginning then it may be worth getting the game for sentimental reasons...but otherwise it is not worth spending this much for a game, when all that is good is the last game in the series. Its fun, a good waste of time but nothing special. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as 2004 or 2005
A real letdown having used 2004 and 2005
2-0 out of 5 stars Full of bugs that really drags down the game
It could be fun, but it's just fullof bugs, people disappear, it lags, sounds are delayed, it runs very slowly, screen loadups are slow, inconsistent chip shots.Today I tweaked options for peak performance, and the game won't even run, seems to work best on default mode.No patch is issuedyet. So while it could be loads of fun its pretty much frustration and pain.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good but also very similar to 05
This game is gobs of fun for any serious golfer.

3-0 out of 5 stars If you needed an excuse to buy a better video card
Game Play:
1-0 out of 5 stars It's not what you're thinking
This game is so popular only because of advertisement. Just think about these facts: the single player is so short that it take no longer than 4 hours, and the story is extremely stupid, especially the ending when there is nuclear explosion, and our hero flyes out of there on helecopter!!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Fun game, BUT......
it just couldn't hold my attention. I guess I still hold all 1st person shooters to the Half Life 2 standard.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Beginning of an era (in remake form)
For those who don't know too much info about this game, this is the remake of the first 2 NES games, not the originals. 2nd is that FF2 (FF2 in japan) was never released here in the US and finally that these 2 games are actually ports from the Wonderswan versions of the games. Wonderswan is a handheld gaming system (like the gameboy) that is in Japan only and has two ways to play the system (horizontailly and Vertically).
5-0 out of 5 stars The beginning of an era...
I wasnt going to write a review at first. After all, with 60+ reviews, I figured that pretty much everything has aleady been said. But then I started reading some of them...
5-0 out of 5 stars Oldy but Goody
It was really nice to be able to once again be able to play the one game where all the new ff age was started. By all means much less hiped up like the newer versions, but still holds the player to the end. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Holy Crap
I got this game the day it came out and all I have to say is WOW! The visuals in the game are stunning and if thats not enough it has some of the best gameplay that i have ever played. i got it in 2005 or whenever it came out and im still playing it today almost a year later and ill be playing it for much longer it is by far the best game i own for PC X-BOX and gamecube. stunning graphics and a very realistic gameplay make this game a tresure it is a must buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even Better than COD
Graphics are improved over COD (which were pretty good in thier own right) and it's an action filled game. I recommend that you have a pretty fast system and good video card for this one as it's graphic intense.
4-0 out of 5 stars Superb first person shooter
There is no doubt in my mind that Call Of Duty 2 is the most intense and engrossing FPS I've ever played. The best? Well, that's up for debate and it's unanimous that CoD2 makes no effort to innovate the genre but nonetheless, the way the game proceeds at breakneck speed for almost the entire thing makes for barrels of fun. It should be noted that if you like the traditional FPS feature of puzzle solving and tactics, this isn't really for you. CoD2 is to Thief: The Dark Project what the 100 metre sprint is to golf. By the way, I haven't played the first Call Of Duty so this is my first time playing the series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Falcon 4.0 Allied Force Works!
My title may sound jaded but the original version of this game released by MicroProse many years ago had more bugs than a wood pile.
5-0 out of 5 stars A sim that can make you sweat
This is an incredible simulator. They've modeled nearly every aspect of flying an f-16. Almost all the buttons in the cockpit actually work exactly as they would in a real jet. (You even have the option to sit there on the ramp while the inertial navigation system gets its bearings and the radars warm up) It's not so much fun as it is engaging, if you're trying to rendevous with a tanker for refueling, you probably won't be thinking about much else. The online manual's around 700 pages, and it could have been longer, if that tells you anything about it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the original Falcon 4.0
As you may know, "Falcon 4.0 Allied Force" is a remake of an older game called "Falcon 4.0". While the two are very similar, "Allied Force" is far easier to install and configure as the original had to be patched and updated several times to reach the same performance as "Allied Force". If you have the patience to learn how to fly the F-16, this "game" will be well worth your time. I live in Japan and went to "Yokota" AFB. An F-16 pilot told me that Falcon 4.0 & "Allied force" are the real deal. There are a few minor issues, but they don't affect gameplay. Like flight sims? GET THIS. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best PC Shooters Avaliable
After having this game for a little over two months now, I still have not even begun to get bored by it. The maps are big enough that you can always find a new hiding place or shortcut. The truly great thing about this game is that it is easy to just jump in and start playing, but as you start getting more involved in the battle you start to discover new things. The path of discovery ultimately leads to learning how to fly the various aircraft and becoming an ace pilot. Until the Battlefield series, the only exceptional online shooters were in the Medal Of Honor series, but the Battlefield series easily trumps any other war shooter with a combination of servers that support up to 64 players, the ability to team up with said players in a variety of ways (for instance, one time my team took a helicopter to an attack point, parachuted out of the chopper when we were getting shot at, and landed by a land transport vehicle, which we hijacked and drove to a nearby port, making our getaway on a boat), a truly brilliant game engine, and some impressive maps. I still have to get the expansions, which I have heard make the game even more astounding. If you are interested to any degree in online shooters, pick this one up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Count on the Swedes to screw up a five star game
This game is loads of fun, but make sure you have the necessary hardware to handle it, and make sure you install the patches in proper order. I have vanilla BF2 and installed the incremental patches, and have had no problems outside of the numerous well-known bugs. I've been lucky because I've never had to reinstall the game and patches, like many others have.
1-0 out of 5 stars How shameless...money buys you better weapons
This game has a scoring system, and as the player earns points, they get promoted and "unlock" better weapons.

2-0 out of 5 stars Game is way too slow with addition of 3D views
argh... I love HOMM series and played every one of them. Also played the entire series of Age of Wonders.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Game But Also Hard
Heroes 5 is defintaly a fun game but it is really hard, i was on the last level for the first campiangn (sorry about the spelling) and i was at the last level and i could never beat it i thought about selling the game but i downloaded patch 1.1 it has a easy mode but it was still kinda hard but i beat the level :) The graphics would be a 4 out of 5 because it does have great graphics but when characters talk most of the time you never see there mouth move. The music is really good, and i hope this helped people out. Overall this game is really good (YAY!!! i'm on the second campiang on the second last level!!!! :)YAY)

3-0 out of 5 stars Hard to enjoy
Darn, another great attempt to build from the beauty of HOMM 3, which was the best of the classic turn based adventure games. While I loved the colorful landscapes and 3D animation, I expereinced similar difficulty with the interface described by others. The game would lag significantly, especially when zooming. Also, sometimes, I couldn't get a path on open terrain (e.g. in an underground cavern), based on the view.Clicking on open ground wasn't enough, I would have to spin the camera angle until it would allow me to finally set the path. . . really frustrating. All of the animations and graphics are great, but these other issues take away from the enjoyment of the game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Vici!
Totally awesome! I've gotten so good at this game that I totally know that if I'd been with Publius Quinctilius Varus when he was messing around in that forest, he'd be going, like, "Dude - thanks for saving my, like, butticus!" And then his boss, Augustus, would have been totally saying, like, "Dude, Varus - where is my reefer?"

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game - Campaign is a bit long
Overall, Rome Total War rocks. I'm a big Civ fan but I also like to play Warcraft. Rome Total War combines these well. The only negative is the campaign game takes a really long time (30+ hours) to play.
5-0 out of 5 stars Rome total war
Son loves game. He had it before but since it has multiple disc's (one broke) we had to reorder entire set. It is a strategy game and teaches him alot about Roman history. If one disc breaks entire game is no good. So keep them safe- we learned the hard way. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A graphics dinasour
After having only known, played, and become a die-hard fan of The Sims 2, I bought this TS1 collection out of sheer curiosity.Boy oh boy was I surprised when I installed it.I never would have guessed the huge difference in graphics quality (or lack thereof) in this game in comparison with The Sims 2.I've never seen such a giant leap in game and graphics quality between game versions until now.I'm SO glad I already have The Sims 2, along with all of the expansion packs and add-ons, to keep me entertained, but this was at least worth the cost to check it out and to collect. It also comes with all of the expansion packs already included, too so that's a big time/money saver.I may fiddle around with this version a bit more in the future, but I'm quite thoroughly satisfied with The Sims 2 and it's hard to take such a big step backward graphics-wise and quality-wise and still have as much fun.So I'm only giving this 3 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Still Fun - Even After The Release Of TS2
The Sims is old, yes. And after the release of its sequel, still playing TS1 probably seems pointless and boring, as it doesn't have nearly as many features as TS2. But still, even without the fancy 3-D graphics and complex features, I have continued to find TS1 just as fun as I did the day I bought it... 5 years ago, and sometimes find myself playing it more than TS2, for a couple reasons:

4-0 out of 5 stars Not "Wild" about the Gold Pack
Despite what was written in the description this pack does not contaill all the expansion packs for RCT, just the water park. That being said, it is a good game and for under $20 you can't go wrong. (I had a pirated version of this game when it came out, but couldn't run it on my PC. Once I upgraded my system and played it a few times, I went ahead and bought it ... it's that good!)
4-0 out of 5 stars Cole's Review age 7
It's really fun and there's lots of choices of roller coasters.Unlike Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, if you work in the sandbox mode you have unlimited amounts of money to build with.In 'Soaked' you can make pools, waterslides and new amusement rides. When you make pools the Peeps crowd into them. You do need a newer computer with lots of memory or it plays too slow. Cole

4-0 out of 5 stars Endless fun until your PC runs out of memory
RCT3 (I own the single disc versions) is one of the most addictive simulations especially for theme park afficionados.

3-0 out of 5 stars Could Have Problems
The game's support for high-res video systems is poor.If you're running a res higher than 1400x1050, you'll get hash when starting the game.Their help files do nothing but warn you to update your video driver to the latest version.Their online support is in a Forum layout that is mostly from other users who likely won't have the same card or problem you're having. No where in the Readme's or help files does it tell your where you can modify the video settings prior to starting the game. You will have to go into My Documents\My Games and open the Prefs.ini file.Locate the resolution settings and change to the approprite numbers then save it.Make sure to have your display settings changed to match before trying to start the game.Max res for a desktop is listed in game as 1400x1050.If you're using a Widescreen monitor, max res you should set both the Prefs.ini and your display settings to is 1280x800.If you try to go any higher than those, you'll get a hash or blank screen.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice but buggy

4-0 out of 5 stars In some ways better then Doom 3 and then others not....
Overall it was not bad.
4-0 out of 5 stars More enjoyable than Doom 3...
Straight away, you are back into Doom 3's claustrophobic, yet stifling `walk in this direction' gameplay. However, this game, albeit a really short game, seems to be more enjoyable than the sobering Doom 3. Firstly, the monsters are better placed - and, seem rather timid at the thought of running aimlessly in front of your weaponry (for example, the zombie soldiers hide more, especially behind crates, etc).
5-0 out of 5 stars More Blastin'
More goodies to see, more bad guys to blast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exellent Game!(This is a no spoiler review.)
This game takes place on a group of islands twenty years after the events of Chrono Trigger. This game also takes place between two parallal worlds hence the name Chrono CROSS.In this game you have the ability to recruit up to 44 characters. To get all of them you will need to play through the game at least 3 times. You will probably WANT to play the game more times anyway depending on how long it takes you understand the story line considering it is VERY complex.

5-0 out of 5 stars Been a Petz fan since Petz2!
This game offers game play with no end, there is not only mini games where you can win prizes...but you also can play fetch and many other games with your petz. You can breed mixed dogs or purebred...and can even do selective breeding.

Hey, this is a great game. Just to tell the people who think this gaame is boring: Y'all must not be able to use a computer if you think there's nothing to do. Sure, this is a few-minutes-each-day game. But you can dress up your pets, you can breed them, (though I'm not sure about the crashing problem, I only had that with the fourth game installment) and you can use programs to make new breeds. For people who can't get any items, that's done with theminigames. And though you get bored after a half-hour to an hour, you go back to it the next day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not as great or revolutionary as it should have been
I remember when "Doom 3" first came out there was a lot of hype on the Internet. People were claiming it would blow away the release of "Half-Life 2" with id's new engine, etc. etc. etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars Don't let stingey reviews deter you from this game
A brilliant remake of the original classic! Although I am an avid fan of the first DOOM...I strongly urge you to NOT juxtapose the two. If you sit back and pick apart the differences between them, you'll never enjoy DOOM 3.
