5-0 out of 5 stars Top 3 PS2 game ever
This game is simply awesome. I received it for a gift last Christmas and I still love it. The graphics & action are amazing, it's not available on XBOX. If you don't already own this game you simply cannot go wrong w/ this masterpiece. You'll love it. The main character, Kratos, reminds me of Quan chi in Mortal Kombat. Looking forward to God of War 2 !

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best action games PERIOD.
You've read a lot of reviews to get to this one, most likely, and they've gone on about how great it looks (it does look tremendous), how fantastic the gameplay is (it is awe-inspiring), and how just absolutely great of a gaming experience it is. There are a few things that I would like to add. First off, there is one slight problem with the game. Personally, with action games of the 3rd-person variety, I like to be able to control the camera. This game does not have that. Instead, you are taken where the gamemakers want you to go and only what they want you to see. This is a very slight complaint, and one I'm hoping will be improved with GOD OF WAR II. The second thing that I would like to add is that the Mythological aspect of this game is GREAT! It really gives the game a very epic scale that is not found in a great many games. It's the thing that drives this game farther than it usually would. It's a tremendously entertaining, and oft-times thought-provoking, game that has a sense of gravitas that most action slice'em-dice'em games of this type get to. Get it!

5-0 out of 5 stars From the video game widow's point of view...
My husband brought this game home and I thought, "Oh no, I guess we're not having multisyllable conversations for the next few weeks..." But to my surprise not only did he ABSOLUTELY love this game but I would sit next to him and watch, totally transfixed by the amazing detail and effort that the creators poured into this game. I caught myself saying, "Baby, aren't you going to play your game?" This game is incredible and while I am not at all a gamer I'm tempted to try it out! Everyone not shocked by gore (and I mean LOTS of gore) should play this game. Every game should be this well made.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yes
All of the people that gave this game a review of more than two stars are bs-ing you. Those people are probably hardcore ff7 fans - that game was barely mediocre at best.Other ff7 releases = advent children, cell phone game, and movie/tv show thing. All three things, resectively, sucked. Now comes, "Dierge of Cerberus"whoop did eeee doo!!The only reason why I rented it was because the title says, "final fantasy" in it.The only redeeming quality of this game is the cutscenes - other than that, boring. If you can get more than 20 minutes through the game, then by all means, it's the game for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun game......just a really bad game.....
I read poor reviews for this game in PSM magazine yet failed to believe them seeing I am a hardcore Final Fantasy fan. I ran to the store and picked this up, popped it in my PS2, and awaited to review it myself. I seem to speak for myself when saying this...but I just think simple games that are easy are just...fun. This game was amazingly fun, just not worth 50$. I highly suggest renting this game, unless you're a FF collecter (like myself). The length is also dissapointing, seeing I beat it in one sitting (only about a 4-6 hour game).
3-0 out of 5 stars This game is the definition of "Generic"
I just beat DoC (Dirge of Cerberus), and if I had to describe this game in 1 word, it would be: generic - and that saddens me deeply, because this game had the potential to be bad arse. I mean come on, Vincent Valentine (cool name, huh?) is a awesome, well designed character, and the FFVII world is a classic theme based world to make a great game off of - RPG or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still the champ
As far as football games go over the last 3 or 4 years NCAA football has been the best. This year so far is no different. I got the Madden and haven't even started the season yet because it comes out so early none of the rosters are anywhere near close. I play with the Cowboys and had to create 8 players. Also the gameplay for Madden is so unrealistic a linebacker can intercept everything. To me since about 2003 NCAA has looked better and played much better than Madden. The players on Madden look so little for some reason. You can control your players alot easier on NCAA. The trick to the momentum meter on this game is to try to get a good lead early and after that it is alot easier. One thing I dont like about this game is that for the past 2 years they have taken off the special intro's to add all that other junk. See i play with Miami and they always run thru smoke at the beginning but they took it out 2 years ago, why? Also they used to show Notre Dame walk down their stairs but they took that off too. Also for the last 2 years I havent won the heisman even though I had better stats. Other than that the game is solid, haven't played the Superstar mode yet. For football fans this game is worth a buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Same game.. same glitches.. horrible kicking game
I've been a huge fan of this game.. I prefer this to Madden.Get it every year when it comes out.Nothing has changed.$50.00 for new rosters (with names you have to enter in yourself anyway). Same glitches - if your opponent has momentum, expect to fumble every ball, drop every catch, and have 80 yard touchdowns scored on you every time.Commentary is also still the same. These are all flaws present in the earlier versions I loved, and those versions would recieve a 5 from me every time.So what's the deal with the 2 this year? THE KICKING GAME SUCKS!!!!It is so confusing and hard to control all the new apects, that just after 3 games played, I am ready to toss it or trade it in and resort to the 2006 NCAA version.Horrible

4-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT GAME BUT NOTHING IMPROVED
Basically if you like 04,05 And 06 you will like this game as nothing but the rankings really has changed. its the same commentary, gameplay and a few new graphics. I Like it as its a lot of fun. im glad they didnt change it. Remember the old saying if it aint broke dont fix it. This is a great game to play and as close to being there as you can get ... 4-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES FOR THE PS2
This game has stunning graphics and fast-paced gameplay. This game is simply killing different bosses over and over again, but dont think im trying to make this game sound bad because that kind of battles in a game like that make this game how awesome it is. For example every colossus is different looking and has different ways to kill each of them. Some a lot more complicating than others. And theres os many colossus' that it takes a long time to beat them all. So overall this game is great.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great adventure but might be too simple for some
Pros:
5-0 out of 5 stars A Colossal Achievement
Ico was a game that was very different from others. It focused on puzzle solving and had a short but unforgettable story mixed with fantastic visuals and audio. Imagine what Ico would be if action were incorporated into it, you would have something like Shadow of the Colossus, Ico's prequel. SoTC is a colossal achievement on many different levels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Controller
This controller feels great in your hands. In fact, after using this controller for awhile, my batteries went low and I had to switch back to the Dualshock controller. The Dualshock felt wierd in my hands. The response of the controller is good.I have had the controller for a long time now and have not experienced any lag time. One down side to the controller was that i returned two controllers because they has stopped working in a short period of time.I guess the 3rd time is the charm because this one is working fine after almost a year.

2-0 out of 5 stars Seven Months
I have had three of these Logitech Wireless controllers now. They have all broken nearly seven months to the day I buy them.
4-0 out of 5 stars great device but .......
I have the same opinion as everyone else, the controller is very convenient, appealing, affordable and fun, but......it suddenly stopped working....i think there are some problems with the wireless connection, and its very frustrating being in the middle of the action and BOOM....your controller stops respondind..... and you get killed.....IT SUCKS!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A brilliant (and fun!) role-playing adventure...
First, let me say that I bought this game without being very familiar with the TALES series. While I had read good things about the series, it was really by chance that I stumbled across it on GameSpot, read the review there, took a look at the screenshots, and decided that I wanted to give this game a spin.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Addition to the Tales Series
While the Tales series isn't nearly as big as other series (namely Final Fantasy), it's still a particularly fun and satisfying game to play. For one, the Tales series has always been able to bring about fantastic gameplay and expansive worlds. While the stories sometimes seem generic they're brilliantly told with fantastic characters.Tales of the Abyss is the latest in the series and needless to say, if you liked Tales of Legendia or even the far superior (and arguably best) Tales of Symphonia, you'll more than likely enjoy this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
I loved Xenogears and when it was known that they were going to bring out xenosaga I was so looking forward to it. Well 1 didn't disapoint which led to 2.!! Then there was 2, well talk about a letdown. Then the talk of 3 started. At first I was unsure if I wanted to lay down any more money and be disapointed yet again... But WOW am I glad I did. It was a beauty to watch and play. Many of the answers from games 1 and 2 can be found it breath taking cut scenes. Im not going to spoil things for you but just to say WOW isnt enough to discribe the CGI's and twist and turns. I just hope you enjoy this game as much as I have.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most beautiful game on the market.
The game has a LOT of plot development and cutscenes. If you are into it then that's great.I find I scan for the gist and then move on to the next dialogue. That being said, all of the backgrounds are simply the best ever put on screen.I find myself actually commenting aloud to myself how beautiful the game is.The action is good and the plot does suck you in.Nothing novel in the battle system, while the plot managed to surprise me after playing both of it's predecessors.Completely worth your while.

4-0 out of 5 stars With a story as detailed and absorbing as Xenosaga III's, it's nearly impossible to not be hooked.
Xenosaga Episode I remains a type of paragon for a story and character driven RPG.There was so much to tell in the game that players looking to sink their teeth into a 40 or so hour cinematic RPG wouldn't need to look any further, and would also be very satisfied.Episode II was a bit shorter and not quite as good as the first installment. However, Xenosaga III is as good as an RPG can get.I love to watch films with solid plots and memorable, meaningful characters. It is a pleasure to experience a video game that can achieve that kind of involvement through a long period of 40+ hours.Episode III, throughout its duration, constantly engrosses the player with the many plot developments, flashbacks, and insights into the many characters.Every primary characater is respected with deep explorations into their own motives and agendas.Everything about the game is meticulously crafted.Every bit of plot and dialogue builds upon itself from the intro all the way to the conculsion, and still there is room for much more to be pondered.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Game But Some Parts Take Too Long
This is a pretty cool game that kills off the lonely, boring hours of my life, but I feel that some of the levels have too long of a time limit--Not that I can finish them that quickly, but I think they should be designed to be shorter levels. For instance, I think the Make the Moon level gives you 25 minutes to complete it. Well, that's just great if I have 25 minutes to kill, but that's quite a bit of time to just sit down and space out the world while I roll junk up into a ball. So like 10 tries on that level kills off 4 hours of my life, which gets me closer to my sweet, sweet death, but sometimes I like to have my playtimes in shorter fixes. For those times, I play Zuma, but I wish I could play a shorter version of Katamari.

4-0 out of 5 stars Weirdly addictive, disappointingly short
I played this game with some friends out-of-town, and seriously had to acquire a PS2 just to satisfy my craving. Not a shooter game, not an rpg, you just roll.Seriously.It's surprisingly awesome actually - but my big disappointment came when after about 2 days of mildly committed playing, it was done.I'd beat it, and I'm really not a big gamer. And I don't know how much mileage I'm really gonna get out of the sort of limited 2-player mode.Maybe the sequel is better - I hope?

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game

This game is too fun to express in words. You not only get to experience the show in your personal home theater and play as several characters and learn bending skills including airbending, but you get experience it has a fighting game (in the fighting levels) rather than RPG or strategy style like in the Final Fantasy series.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great.. not horrible.. just eh..
I waited a long time to buy this game because my brother told me not to waste my money.I'm glad I listened to him. This game was pretty much a bad graphic movie.I would say that the game is 60% short little movies with bad graphics, 10% beautiful graphic movies, and 30% actual game play.I was so frustrated when all I wanted to do was level up, or explore and instead I had to sit there and watch a dumb movie. The main character, Tidus, was so unrealistic as a hero and Yuna, the main female character, said "yes" as her only dialogue about 100 times! Oh my god, they would have a whole movie scene just to have her say yes!!Also, there were long pauses in between speeches... it was really annoying. The game itself was ok.By the end, the bad guy was really easy... i thought he would be more of a challenge. All in all, this game is only average. The story line could have been more thought out, and instead of a twist, it was more like a confusing reality. But an even worse game is FF X-2... Stay away from that one at all cost! The one thing I really loved about this game was the sphere system for gaining skills and abilities.I wish that could be the main way from now on. Looks like FF VII is still my fav FF game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Graphics And Deep Gameplay
There is so much to see and discover in this game. It took me over 70 hours just to complete the walkthrough and I am still working on capturing all the monsters for the Monster Arena. Someone who wanted to complete all side quests, find all special items, etc. could easily spend more than 100 hours on this game and never get bored -just incredibly deep gameplay. The graphics are also outstanding, among the best I have seen in a video game. It took me awhile to get used to the Sphere Grid used to increase your characters' stats. At first I didn't find it as satisfying as the typical method of "leveling up". But eventually I began to enjoy it and it's now one of my favorite aspects of the game. The only thing I found tiresome was how long the cutscenes were. The storyline itself was quite good. But I wish it was told with shorter cutscenes or at least gave players the option to skip through the cutscenes. Still this is a minor complaint to an otherwise excellent game. Definitely worth buying!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure Magic!
All I have to say is that squaresoft out did themselves with X. It truly is a masterpiece and a feast for the eyes. I was lost in it's story, creativity, music, and charcters. Beautiful! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A new look for the MegaTen franchise
While Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army isn't actually an SMT game, it is a member of the franchise. It is actually part of a family of spin-off games in the MegaTen series that is just using the SMT name to establish connections between the different series in the franchise finally appearing in America. 5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks!
Yes, I am a die-hard Star Wars fan and yes, I love a good mission-based action game so man, if this isn't the perfect game for me! It's so much fun and there's so much freedom in the game in itself! Add on to that the space missions and Wow, this game totally blows me away! Highly recommended for anyone who is a Star Wars fan, a FPS fan, or a fan of fun gameplay!

4-0 out of 5 stars An Immense Improvement
The promising thing about this series is that each installment is significantly better than the last. Not only that, but the Soul Calibur franchise has made a big influence on other contemporary fighting-genre games. For one, Namco's choice of deciding to produce SCIII on PlayStation 2 alone (instead of having to design it similiarly for Xbox and Gamecube) allowed them to fully make use of the PS2's capabilities. The first obvious change is the graphics; Soul Calibur II's graphics almost look childish in comparison to the more detailed and realistic style of SCIII. As in most fighting games, the main Story mode allows you to choose a character and fight various battles until you come to the final boss. However, the difference with this game is that (before each fight) you are given a synopsis of your character's journey thus far and why you have to fight your next opponent. This is a big change from a lot of fighting games, where you usually just take on one opponent after another, with no real explanation as to why you'd even be fighting them in the first place. Not only is the storyline aspect heightened, but you are also given different paths to take after battles; your choices will affect who you'll have to fight next. There are 25+ characters to choose from and each one has their own unique story.
5-0 out of 5 stars this game rocks
this game is just loads of fun espcially in a tournament scenario with a bunch of friends, and has a great single player mode overall a really fun game

4-0 out of 5 stars Not just kicks
When I first saw this game, I thought it was the same thing as Tekken and Mortal Combat. It does have this mode (versus mode) but it also has other things as well. My two boys enjoy the fact that they can create and arm characters. You choose what type of character you want to create, be it a male or female character, and then add all the attire (armor, helmets, weapons, etc.) You can even choose the voice, the hair color and the eye colors for the character, and the colors of their attire, which my sons have found fun to do. Aside from that, there is a mode where you have different quests, and they can send their newly created character on that quest, to conquer the enemy strongholds. For a teenage audience, who like the "fights" games, this I have found to be more interesting than others I've seen. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars get it while its fresh!
well...This goes out to the previous reviewer...first off.there are numerous new animations..i mean..kobe shoots like..well kobe.....Big Z actually dont jump on his jump shot and numerous other stars have there own jump shot animation..something kinda tight..as for upgrades..well the roster is updated and the A.I. is much smarter..how is that not an update?..plus now you have full control on how your team plays; you now have that option to change in the option menu..and the post game is much better..more realistic..and the shot stick..WOW..perfection...and if you care about jersey numbers..its updated too...so Artest has number 93 and Kobe has 24...(a plus since in any of the 2k series you are not allowed to change numbers)..so dont listen to those fools who say buy 2k6 or switch to live 07...they have no idea about how a true simulation should be...but dont get me wrong Live is also a very good game but not as real in the simulation department like 2k7..so go buy this game....why pay 20 bucks for an old game such as 2k6, when you could add 10 more dollars to it and buy 2k7? why would you do that?..no disrespect to the previous reviewers but people need to think a little bit...

5-0 out of 5 stars NBA2K7 is BETTER than NBA Live 07
This game is HOT!!!!I have never played the NBA2K versions before so playing this game has brought a lot of excitement to playing a basketball game. The game seems so realistic it is scary. The players play and move the way that they do in the real game. The graphics are fantastic and gameplay is a lot of fun.I bought NBA Live 07 and I wish I didn't.I could have saved a few dollars by just buying NBA2K7.In my opinion, it is the best basketball game out there.

1-0 out of 5 stars unfortunately it's a stripped down version
they took out 24/7 mode!!! Now it's only available in the 360 version(which is twice the cost) I'm getting 2K6 instead. Save yourself some money & do the same. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and... FREE (no monthly cost that is :P)
Last year's game that combined most of the best aspects of online role-playing (without any monthly fees attached), action role-playing games, and competitive gaming in general is back in a similarly huge and interestingly complex follow-up. While Guild Wars Factions is inherently similar to its predecessor, and saddled with some of the same relatively minor shortcomings, it still delivers a deep, addictive, and satisfying experience on many levels. The game is ultimately best suited for social, competitive players (like fans of the original), but it effectively weaves together solo, cooperative, and competitive content in a way that's undeniably impressive.
