5-0 out of 5 stars Good first version
The game play is pretty good. The graphics are workable. It is a little too easy on the easy level. It does well accessing the Star Wars world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Empire at War
The graphics leave a little to be desired, but overall the game is fun to play.My kids really get into the battles.

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is fun, but still has severe bugs after 5 patches.
I love the graphics and gameplay in Star Wars, Empire at War.The space battles are geat and there is plenty of strategy.Beware, however, that this game has SEVERE bugs.It will crash randomly to the dektop, and freeze to make you restart your computer. You may not be able to complete the campaign because of the bugs and glitches. This already has 5 patches, but they only introduce new issues.BUT, this game is still worth it in my opinion, because it is so fun and strategic. You will have to make that decision for yourself. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It Couldn't be Better....For the First Game....
I LOVE this game! The storyline is wonderful!I guess if you feel bored with the campaign, just go looking for easter eggs! But what I LOVE is playing multiplayer! And someone did bash the multiplayer, but there are TONS of rooms that will kick you out for cussing and/or killing your teammates! I've had this game for years, and I never get tired of playing online!Actually...it's kind of addicting...

5-0 out of 5 stars Halo is an ausome game no matter what the other reviews say!
Halo combat evolved is one of the best games I have played. I haven't played multiplayer yet. This game has good graphics and a great storyline. You start out on the human ship the pillar of autumn. The covenent (sorry if i spelled this wrong) ship has cought up with the pillar of autumn and has boarded it. The covenent are aliens fighting to destroy the human race. Your only choice is to take cortana the main information program and try to escape the damaged pillar of autumn. You escape onto a giant ring floating in space. The outside of the ring is metal. But the inside is a world much like earth. The covenent believe Halo(the ring) is a weapon. The covenent do not know how to use Halo yet. You find Halo's main control system and find out what Halo really is. It is a prison for the flood. The human flood are truly gross creatures and I will not go into full detail about their "habits". Halo is not only a prison to keep the flood from escaping and spreading across the universe but it is also a place to study the human flood. This is only a few parts of the game. Don't ask me how I went from building to building without getting lost. All of the buildings look the same on the inside so watch out! I love the machines you get to ride in. My favorites are the ghosts. I highly recommend this game to any gamer anywhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly reccomended way to become socially reclusive!
Love this game. Great story line. Just make sure your computer can handle it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars KOTOR the 2003 Game of the Year
When i bought this game, ti was originally to stop my friend naggingf at me to get it. When i did, well i was glsad to have bought it. The storyline is awesome,a nd i have beaten it a lot. Another friend of mine, didnt think much of it and he thought it kind of sucked, but later on, he got an X-box, and he bought that game to try it out. He said it was awesome. Last year, we were talking about it and i asked him how could u have thught this game sucked?
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most addicting games that I've ever played.
I am a huge Star Wars fan, but I don't really like RPG's all that much (at least not video games; I do play DnD).That said, this game absolutely blew me away.As a DnD player, I knew that there wouldn't be a learning curve on the game since it uses the D20 system.Knowing the system really helped with feat selection and such, as there really wasn't anything outlandishly new.I was, however, a little disappointed with the small number of Force powers that were in the game.I don't think that I would bother having my main character be a Jedi Consular, as you can really get a decent amount of Force powers even with a Jedi Guardian (and if you have some Wisdom enhancing items, you can use those powers often as well).
3-0 out of 5 stars Maybe there was too much hype?
My friends bought Xboxes soley for this game. They swear by it.Like them, I'm a big fan of the Black Isle/Bioware RPG's.I've played through Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment, Fallout and Neverwinter Nights and loved all of them.My friends told me to get this game, so I did (for PC, obviously).I put in maybe 25 hours into KotOR.It was OK.I had some (at times, major) graphical glitches, but that can be overlooked if the game is great. This wasn't great. The gameplay seemed way to repetitive, and I found the worlds that were to be explored rather boring.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This is seriously one of the best computer games that I have ever played. The game takes a lot of startegy and takes awhile to learn but once you get going it's terrific. You are given a mission or multiple missions to complete during a progress campaign to stop the Beast enemy from wiping out all who stand in their way. Playing the game at harder and harder difficulty levels makes every mission all the more challenging to complete. The graphics are incredible, especially considering that this is hardly a new game.Everything looks realistic, from the phasers and torpedoes to the ships fading in and out as they move farther away from the viewing camera.Controlling an entire battle fleet is a challenge, but the controls are easy to use and fighting battles on three or four different fronts at the same time is not difficult. This game will be a lot of fun to everyone who enjoys strategizing and engaging in massive space battles.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is one of those games that make you feel small and insignificant.
When you start this game you wouldn't expect it to be anything to special. There aren't any big impressive intro cut-scenes, just the game makers insignias. The main menu itself has no impressive grafics, but once you click on single player the fun begins. The inro cut-scene puts you right into the game with a little history, and then a transition from a rendered scene of what is called a Hyper-space core, to an in game shot of two resource collecters latching on and transporting the core to a mothership. This is where I was suddenly swept away by this game. The shear size of the ships you can command. One of my favorites is the largest offensive ship in the fleet; the Battlecruiser. The size and capabilities of each ship is what gets me about this game. I don't even need to mention the actual gameplay itself; just look at my rating. I recommend this game to any rts fan. It's quite a change from the standard X and Y battle fields with the addition of the Z axis. Have fun gamers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, complex, and fun game
I ordered this game after playing the demo, and I have to say it was well worth it.The storyline is interesting, the soundtrack iscool and has an egyptian/middle eastern feel to it.The graphics are excellent, so excellent that sometimes you'll find yourself just watching the war between massive fleets and storms of fighters. Also worth mentioning is the large number of cool mods out there for this game.Being a starship combat game, there are Star Wars mods (the best), Star Trek mods, and other custom mods. This game will give you plenty of hours of entertainment for its good price. It's one of the few extremely good 3-D space combat RTS games you're going to find, so if that's the experience you're looking for, you won't be dissappointed by this game. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Classic game, well worth the $
Great game no matter what anyone says. A little dated but solid story and game to match.

4-0 out of 5 stars Starcraft should be a classic game. It is just that good.
This should be consider one of the classics games in the game world. It has been the top 10 games for a couple of years and it is still widely played today. This package contains the original and expansion pack with strategy guides which is really good deal. This game is a strategy game which has a very awesome story line for its campaign. And if you want to get out of the RPG/MMORPG craze Starcraft is a the best strategy game to go back on. If you are debating between Starcraft and Warcraft, I have to say Starcraft would be a better choice. Starcraft requires more skill and it open lots more opportunity than warcraft with its massive number in army and units.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game
This game initially came out around 10 years ago with an expansion pack couple years later. Personally I only play battle.net mode(online play) because there user created maps and missions unlike the ones that come with the game. If you plan to get this game I highly suggest having internet connection. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Its still fun
I liked this expansion to the original DOW.It was more of the same and since I liked the original game I knew I would like this expansion.I felt it was overpriced for an expansion pack that was on the short side for the single player campaign. Some of the criticism I see here on the Amazon page is justified.I felt the story was well thought out and the voices were beliveable. The graphics and sound were the same as DOW.I saw where some one said the Imperial Guard should have AT weapons, they do its the rocket launchers. It is true the scenarios feel a bit rushed, as if you do not have enough time to really think about your strategy. The problems is I think that is a fair criticism of all RTS games.Once again when installing the game the software secretly tells my firewall to let the game phone home, a very annoying feature.

1-0 out of 5 stars A distinct disappointment
Pros:
2-0 out of 5 stars awful campaign mode
Why does relic spend so much effort and money developing such a sophisticated and exciting RTS platform and then give it a campaign mode that is just a confusing goatf$#k of massed enemies and nonsensical storylines? The game was designed to reward subtly matching unit types to enemy strategies, but the campaign mode is just a wave after wave of mixed units that must be endured with no time or even need to plan a defense.I feel like I've been given a set of surgical tools and then told I have 10 minutes to cut dow a tree with them; the sophistication of the tools makes the brutish nature of the task all the more frustrating.Bad, bad job relic. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Could Have Problems
The game's support for high-res video systems is poor.If you're running a res higher than 1400x1050, you'll get hash when starting the game.Their help files do nothing but warn you to update your video driver to the latest version.Their online support is in a Forum layout that is mostly from other users who likely won't have the same card or problem you're having. No where in the Readme's or help files does it tell your where you can modify the video settings prior to starting the game. You will have to go into My Documents\My Games and open the Prefs.ini file.Locate the resolution settings and change to the approprite numbers then save it.Make sure to have your display settings changed to match before trying to start the game.Max res for a desktop is listed in game as 1400x1050.If you're using a Widescreen monitor, max res you should set both the Prefs.ini and your display settings to is 1280x800.If you try to go any higher than those, you'll get a hash or blank screen.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice but buggy
was a nice game but with a higher end system it was real buggy with a few lockups

3-0 out of 5 stars tired and repackaged
This game is nothing more than Gal Civ I repackaged with (slightly) better graphic. It plays basically the same - you don't need the tutorials at all.If you played the first game you can play this right out of the box.It was a big disappointment. After four days of having the game, its now just click, click, *Yawn*, click, click, *Yawn*, click... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks!!!
This game is the best Star Wars game I've ever played. Sadly there is only 10 hours of gameplay and only 3 levels. But the levels are long. Some parts can be difficult and when your alone you start to miss your squad. Overall if your a Star Wars fan you'll love it and if your not a fan you'll still love it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great cutscenes and gameplay
The game plays great, scenery and enemies are very well done so if you're into the star wars genre you'll love it. The game is very balanced too, not boringly easy or unplayably hard. The only real problem with the game is you'll wish there were more single player levels. After playing Far Cry which takes some serious time to conquer, it's not brief but it does seem short.

5-0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Republic Commando

4-0 out of 5 stars Great RTS with LOTS of action.
True to the Warhammer 40K universe, this game puts you right in the middle of a war on the planet Tartarus for the souls of every man and woman on the planet. The forces of Chaos have hatched a diabolical scheme to free a foul daemon from its prison and cast its evil shadow on the universe. The Space Marins, Blood Ravens unit, must battle to stop them. Fight a WAAGHG! army of Orks as well as the crafty Eldar as you unfold the great story of those oh to short RTS.A must play.

3-0 out of 5 stars Half a game, not bad.
The single user game is way too short, I have not seen a large number of game editsd out there to create original fan content, the online community is a little anemic, and the online multiplayer tends to have 'issues'.
5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely fun and immersive game!
I played the demo of Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War perhaps 6 months before I was able to purchase the full version... After I got the full version, this game simply went to the top 5 of my RTS games.

5-0 out of 5 stars StarCraft:A Classic
Wow, I wasn't really sure what to expect when I bought this game!I had only played once before at a friend's house, and thought, "Oh sure, it's fun, I guess."But after buying this from Amazon, I had yet to discover the fulness of the game!As old as it may be, I discovered how many people still go online to play the game! That alone is proof of how good a game this is.Creating armies to conquer the battlefield, using great strategy along the way, this game really gets you thinking, too!I absolutely love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Blizzard gets the formula right!
Hailed by critics as merely "Warcraft in Space" back when it was released, Blizzard Entertainment's gem is a standard by which all strategy games are now judged. There are 3 playable races to choose from, the xenomorphic alien Zergs, the highly evolved technological Protoss, and the resourceful Terrans. The races are meticulously balanced, and all of them are unique in every sense of the word. The strategies you must devise to win have to be drastically different based on the race you play with, there is no single formula for success, you have to utilize your races' strengths and cover up your weaknesses against your enemy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best
This game is the ultimate in RTS.All of the new RTS games focus on beautiful graphics and cool cut scenes. But after all these years, Starcraft still remains the most refined RTS with the best balance and gameplay you can imagine. If you're a RTS game fan, then you already know how great this game is.If you're not an RTS game fan, then get this game and see the light! ... "The game crashes while playing in windows xp", it only happened with me twice.
5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
doeasn't need a patch, not buggy, just excellent (Win98, runs on Me as well, and therefore XP too). Lots of fun, long hours of gameplay, adddictive. Can go back and play other levels over that you mde it through and won already. CAn alt clickl or double click and hold and drag for close-up veiws of anything . Better than Armada II. Easy, once you get the hang of it. Plannig and strategy wins the game. Manufacture what you need with resouces. Fun to rescue damaged ships and repair them. Save the Steamruner class ships at all costs; they are the best for long-distance assaults ansd you cannot make them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent game.
This is a really cool game. The graphics are great. They're better than the two dimensional graphics of Starcraft. If you liked Starcraft you'll like this one.My only complaint would be the unrealistic size relationships between the Borg and other ships and between the starships and starbases. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well-balanced, works on a modest computer
This is a good, well-balanced game. Start building your city little by little. Build a power plant, small-density residential, commercial and industrial zone, water pipes, that's it. Use the cheapest streets. Every other square in a residential and commercial are should have a bus stop. Of course, bus stops cost money, but it will save you from traffic congestions, and you won't need to invest in expensive roads and motorways. Click on the bus stops and watch the number of passengers, if it's low, demolish it.
1-0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work quite right on modern hardware/XP
This game was extremely frustrating. On either of my PCs (both fairly modern and running XP), graphic elements in the game just randomly wouldn't get drawn. It's possible the game got patched at some point (and it's possible some versions of the game sold in stores already ARE patched and would work), but EA hasn't bothered to archive their patches for older games. In any event, I found it was very difficult to play in its current condition on modern hardware.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but Beware
Don't--I repeat, DO NOT--buy this game if you have a Gateway computer, for when you play it on there it not only blocks out all the words, but when you turn it off you have to reinstall it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Frustration free installation and loading (i.e. free w/purchase)
    Yeah, what a great game! I can see a new approach was taken by the developers. Lets' make a game that DOESN'T work! Listen, more than two and a half hours was spent getting the damn thing to install only to find that the game wouldn't even load. Yeah, even downloaded the V1.2 patch but to no avail. A consumer should NEVER have to hunt down solutions so painstakingly, and customize their computer's settings so specifically, to make up for a developer's SHODDY PROGRAMMING STANDARDS. If you've got some spare change, spare time and alot of spare patience;
4-0 out of 5 stars Deus Ex: Invisible War
Good first person shooter. Story line has some references to story in Deus Ex.You should first play Deus Ex, if possible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, Not great either
You need a hefty computer to handle the graphics. I had turn the graphics to lowest and was still laggy. This games storyline requires you to play Deus Ex in order to understand it. Basically, get Deus Ex and forget about invisible war until you beat Deus Ex. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Always have great fun
Wow wow wow...what can I say, if you think Starcraft is fun, you should REALLY try Broodwar, The enhancement may not be a lot, but they kinda gives everyone a little more incentive to fight. Absolutely fantastic game that still thrills me everytime I play. With hundreds or maybe thousands of map available for downloads, you can be sure of hours, days, weeks, months or even years of fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Old Gamer
This is an awesome game from Blizzard...Graphics, Play, Sound...It's an older game with ALOT to offer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Period
I have been playing this game for 5 or 6 years. It is the best game period. It is somewhat difficult but not impossible to complete. Plenty of levels and missions. Good controls, great graphics for it's time and still stands up well to this day, great sound, good music, great storyline. There is a campaign editor, so after you have finished playing the regular game you can create your own game or play some of the custom games that are already provided. I keep waiting and hoping that Blizzard is going to do a quality sequel to this game and right now I am very disappointed that I have not heard anything to indicate that they are. One more thing, although system requirements does not state it, it will work on Windows XP, it has on mine anyway, without using the compatibility mode I might add. This is a great game do yourself a favor go out and buy it, now! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game, prompt shipping
I've been a longtime fan of starcraft ever since it came out... which I'm sad to say is becoming a quite large body of time. The product was great, except that the cd-key I was provided with the software was muted on battle.net.I'd never even seen that before.I'm having to spend a great ammount of time correcting that, but otherwise, delicious!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Time Strategic Slugfest
StarCraft does fall into the RTS genre; resource gathering, unit creation, base building, ect. But it isn't as demanding for a strategic genius as games like Age of Empires or Rise of Nations. Nonetheless, it's an explosive game that will keep you busy for a long time. In a way, StarCraft is a great change of pace for fans of more complex RTS games (like me). Playing Rise of Nations all the time can start to get overwhelming because of the constant mass and micro management needed. In StarCraft, you don't have to deal with a ton of diplomacy issues or anything like that. A typical game has things set up kind of like an RTS death match. All of the resources you need are sitting right next to your base. Collect them, build defenses, then build an army. You can choose from three different races. The Terran, a human army of colonists, Zerg, a race of bugs, mutants, and everything creepy and crawley, and the Protos, a super intelligent race with psionic powers. Each race (Terran, Zerg, Protos) have their one advantages and disadvantages. The Terran are well balanced and are best for beginners. They have good infantry and a variety of defenses. One good advantage is that important Terran Buildings (command centers, barracks, ect.) can lift off the ground and fly to a new area for a quick escape. The Zerg rely on the masses. Their units are not as powerful but they are also less expensive and some are created in groups. One of their disadvantages is that they cannot build (mutate) on normal ground; only on a thick slime that covers the ground near their buildings. The Protos have very powerful units, but they are more expensive and take longer to build. A huge advantage for the Protos is that they don't have to sit at a construction site and waste time building it up. All you have to do is get one of your little probes to warp the building in. The second the probe reaches the building site, they actavate a portal and the building basically starts to build itself, allowing the probe to tend to other matters. As a side effect, they can't repair damaged buildings. The sounds are nothing to make a whole extra section about (zap, boom, kerpow, "gimme somethin' to shoot.") but they're what you would expect from a game like this. The music also fits the mood perfectly. The graphics are about the same as Age of Empires II with a slightly more animated look making everything look and run smooth. It's hard to tell how good the AI is because of the simple tactics they use; launch waves of troops at your enemies and destroy them all. The AI also loves to rush. Expect to be attacked about five minutes into the game. Along those lines, the computer does very well. The environments are very interesting and original, covered with black dirt, craters, strange animals and purple trees. StarCraft also has a great (and free) online multiplayer with an endless number of people to play with. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You won't regret getting it
Most people will want me to start at the negative parts of the game, but that's simply impossible, I mean Starcraft doesn't even come close! My friend first introduced total annihilation to me and I didn't think much of it but I soon realized how wrong I was. The graphics aren't the best but they're still above average. The unit selection is great and the multiplayer is brilliant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
TA is one of my all time favorite games. It is old, the graphics aren't very good, and it's somewhat two dimensional but it is an amazing game. The economy is simple, yet satisfying; the military part of the game (definitely the more comprehensive of the two) is AMAZING.This is one of the only games where it is futuristic but still makes sense. There are plenty of units for the two nations, arm and core, and I find that this game has the most variety out of all the strategy computer games I have ever played. The campaigns are great. The skirmish on the game is also good, although I find computers, given the time, will rise up and may tend to be a little too hard.I find that this game is a great way to spend $8.00, and you may find yourself coming back to this game again and again and find that it never really does get boring (I've been playing this game for about 6 or 7 years) and it is extremely fun, especially in multiplayer.Get this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars 7 years later and I just realized why I still play it...
Sad, when you think about it, that it took me that long. Anyways, there are a few things that make this game really unique. The first one is the number of units on the two sides. a bit over 60 for each side. the second one is that it is easy enough to program that there are a lot of mods on the internet for it. when i say mods, i don't mean those weak excuses that starcraft and warcraft have for mods, i mean real mods. the whole game is replaced, sparing only the engine in some. third, smaller than the other two but still important, is the diversity and usefulness of aircraft. in most other games, they exist with the sole purpose of taking out defenses so that your ground forces can destroy their base with little resistance. in Total Annihilation the aircraft can be used, unsupported, to destroy bases. Oh, i almost forgot. the base defenses are effective, unlike in command and conquer and the blizzard RTS's.

I had a lot of fun with this game. While I'm not really into first-person shooters, this one actually delivered some great gameplay in a very unique gaming world. The game does have a few minor games; however, overall it's easily worth the price.

Alpha Centauri is perhaps one of the best strategy games ever. I really like the way you can change your environment with the formers. I usually create rover formers and run with those. They're the same as rovers only can move 2 squares instead of the usual one so you do more faster!@!@
5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting and Engaging
A friend let me borrow a demo cd with this game on it when I was thirteen. For two years I was addicted to this game until I got a new computer and no longer had the demo. Unfortunately I was only playing the demo so did not get to play all of the characters or go the whole game through so finally, at age nineteen, I stumbled upon the game here on Amazon and must say that the full version is double the excitement of the demo. It has a few new characters and a few missing ones from the demo. Two of my favorite factions "the progenitors" and "the nautilus" were cut out of the full version of the game that I have so I was dissapointed there but otherwise this is a very engaging game that I reccomend to anyone interested in colonizing their own new world and fighting for it against other very unique and objective driven factions with their own different personalities.

5-0 out of 5 stars If like Sci-Fi games or Civilization games, then you'll LOVE this game!
I don't really know where to begin, but perhaps a good place to start would be to discuss the in-depth story this game has. There is a SERIES of books based off of this game!Sid Meier's as a company in my opinion did not do enough to hype this game, because this game is SO MUCH BETTER than civilization!!!It's like civilization of the future! They should take this game and ADD IT to the Civilization as a future technology expansion, like have different planets you could zoom into and run.Isn't that really the next step for civilization anyways?MARS!ALPHA CENTAURI!THE MOON!Ect.lolThere are a few things you have to get used to in this game, like for example, you can CUSTOMIZE yor units with different armor, weapons, ect. and they build fast/slower depending on how much they cost ect.So you see how it can get a little tricky, but you can leave everything standard if you want.Like I said this game has TONS of depth and in my opinion is BETTER than Civilzation 4 (which I have and am not happy with)Civ 4 is too much hype and not enough game play. It's fun, but Alpha Centauri just DOES IT BETTER.This game draws you in and keeps you telling yourself, 'Just one more turn'.Until 8 hours have gone by and you're thinking to yourself, 'Just ONE MORE turn.'lolI don't know what else to say about this game except I'm hoping to acquire the expansion pack and I hope that Sid Meier's gets a clue and makes a 2nd version of this game. ...
